over a drink

The OVER A DRINK Meme

1. Post with your character.

2. You're at a bar. What kind of bar? Any kind you want. From fantasy taverns where various species mingle to futuristic space bars where half the drinks will probably kill you, or even an overly kitsch themed place where everything is overpriced, it's all good as long as there are drinks and company.

3. Respond to other characters. Perhaps you want to buy them a drink. Or perhaps you're inclined to be bought a drink. Maybe you saw someone you knew, or maybe you just want someone to talk to. Could be there's nowhere else to sit, and could be you want to drag them out to dance.

4. Get drunk. Or don't! Be the guest, or the bartender, or the newcomer, or even the janitor. Mingle, make friends, or lurk in a corner.

5. They say alcohol lowers one's inhibitions. Might just be time to find out how much.

[ true, nevarra's cocktail clubs and bars weren't emmrich's usual haunt, but rook (and to some degree, the others) had been adamant about such nonsense as 'taking breaks' and 'letting loose'. concepts that he was plainly unfamiliar with, but to entertain the good intentions of the lighthouse inhabitants, he'd somehow managed to con rook into joining him for a drink at a place he'd admittedly not stepped in for some years.

teaching and research left little time for frivolity, but even emmrich is quietly pleased that the place still had the same classy ambience as the last time he'd been here - and as the drinks arrived, it seemed like the quality hadn't slipped either. taking his from the serving platter, it's only when he's about to take a sip that he notices rook's internal panic. ]

Well, of course. [ he pauses. ] Or do the Wardens prefer to observe their drinks, rather than partake?

[ it's completely unclear whether he's being sincere or teasing rook, but either way, emmrich smiles politely. ]

[He can't let his teammates burn out! And when you're hunting down 'gods', it's very, very easy to burn through your wick. Emmrich's seems longer than others, but that doesn't mean he should neglect it- so here they are, having a drink at the classiest bar Rook has ever been in. A far cry from the bars in the Anderfels.]

This one looks particularly observable. I've never seen orange slices this uniform- which sounds ridiculous, but you know what I mean, right?

[It's just... so fancy.

He takes a sip, and oh, man, that is the best drink he's ever had. There are flavours here he has no idea how to describe. He has some of the fruit before his next sip, and he completely understands why Emmrich would like this place.]

I suppose Nevarrans are quite methodical in most things, orange slicing included.

[ maybe it'd be silly to expect less from a country that dealt mostly in death and ritual - method and care was laced into every aspect of their culture, right down to the way this bar prepared its patron's drinks. taking a polite sip of his own drink, the mild burn of the aged rum was both nostalgic and welcome at the same time. perhaps their team would be surprised to know that nevarra had a booming rum and whiskey industry?

so much underground real estate to hide casks. ]

How's your drink? I do admit it's been some time since I last set foot in here, but unlike the rest of Thedas, it seems to have remained relatively unchanged in terms of quality.

[ perhaps he's a little anxious, having been tasked with recommending something he had scant experience in - reveling - but at least rook hadn't spat it out. ]

[After this, he wouldn't be surprised at all to hear of a booming rum and whiskey industry. People would pay good money for spirits this rich and refined. He's never been one to splurge on this sort of thing, but, well... their circumstances call for some indulgence.

He drinks a little more, slowly and appreciatively.]

Hm-? [Getting lost in the sauce. Give him a moment.] Oh! Good. It's very good. Might be the best drink I've had to date. Which is a low bar to clear, granted; I'm not sure if you've had drink served in the Anderfels, but most of it just tastes like bitter water.

[He didn't go to many reputable bars, and the board provided by the Grey Wardens wasn't much better.]

When was the last time you set foot in here?
