But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.

i. Scenarios ① kidnapped for ransom - everyone wants to make a quick buck. and what quicker way is there than ransoming someones life. Not that everything always goes to plan. Let's just hope that everyone comes out alive and happy. ② kidnapped for revenge - Someone was on the wrong side. Maybe it's the significant other of an Ex. Maybe it's the Ex themselves. Or perhaps it's even more complicated than that. Either way, there's nothing sweeter. ③ cracknapping - Okay, so you didn't mean to drink that much, but now you have woken up in a room with a bunch of mascots from the game and what is going on? ④ kidnapped for help - We need you help. Whether you're willingly up to offer it or not. ⑤ kidnapped for their own good - Want to get you out of a bad situation. It's for your own good. Trust us. You're safe now, you won't be hurt any more. ⑥accidental kidnapping - okay. so this wasn't... exactly what was planned. But looks like we've got an extra person now. W H O O P S ??? ⑦ wildcard - Anyway you want it. ii. relationship ① kidnapper and kidnapee - The prize and the thief, what better combination? ② kidnapee and rescuer - Don't worry, they're here to save you. ③kidnapees! - Well. Stuck together. This is a good bonding moment. ④ kidnappers anonymous - All of you need to get together and feel bad about yourselves. ⑤ wild card - That's the way you need it

Hmmm. (That's most likely a boast, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if she were skilled enough in their use to misdirect someone while feeding something hidden on her person yet too large to store inside through them.)

It's not like I had choice! I stole him from the biology lab this morning.... I didn't know this was going to happen!

= The rabbit in question is pure white, and it twitches its tiny pink nose calmly in Edgeworth's direction. ]

They were going to kill him! The teacher said that tomorrow he would be dissected.... I couldn't let that happen...

Innocent or not, he is the rightful property of your school district and the theft thereof is not the right way to address animal cruelty!

No one listens to people my age. Are you saying that you would have let them kill the bunny? Why is his life worth any less than yours or mine?

[ She pets the bunny at this point, not willing to give the animal back to the school. It's written all over her face. ]

I'm saying that you ought to have sought more legal means of addressing the moral quandary at hand! For example, why did you not simply ask for someone more qualified to make arguments on your behalf?!

With what time? Mr. Edgeworth, they were going to kill him tomorrow! Besides, who would be willing to go to that sort of legal extreme for a bunny? I saved a life, maybe it wasn't the best way to go about it, but I'm not sorry for what I did.

[ It's true, too. ]

You know in your heart that letting them kill this innocent creature is wrong!

I wasn't proposing a courtroom battle, merely convincing an adult you know to speak with the biology teacher in question. Unlike theft, there's no law against that. As for the question of whether or not their intent was wrong regardless of its legality, there are two angles from which to consider the problem which you seem not to have considered.

The problem of how to weigh this rabbit's life as compared to the educational purpose for which it was intended to be sacrificed. The first question which must be asked is this: is it always wrong to kill an animal?

No, it isn't right, especially for something like this! That's like someone taking a baby and doing the same thing -- just because it can't speak doesn't mean we have the right to be cruel to them, educational or not!

[truthsnomiracle]

Withdraw from the immediate situation for the moment and look at the larger picture, Trucy. Do you intend to swear off meat?

If I have to in order to prove my point, then yes.

If your intent is to fight for the belief that one ought not kill an animal for any reason, then such would be a necessary step toward consistency in your beliefs, yes. Is that the cause for which you fight, or do you draw the line elsewhere?

[Edgeworth rubs the back of his head due to his headache, but this time he seems intent on ignoring it. Indeed, he seems to have slipped into a professional bearing...]

Don't be too quick to paint your morals nor anything else in black and white, Trucy. Though we may strive for nobility, to adhere to extremes can cause more suffering than it prevents. Furthermore, there are times when multiple moral imperatives come into conflict.

The life of this one rabbit is clearly something that matters to you. I acknowledge that there is a moral question to be considered, but I also believe there's far more to the situation than whether or not to save an innocent life. Indeed, haven't you committed a crime, however small, in the process of upholding beliefs you had not and have not given full consideration before acting upon?
