How It Works

Sometimes, memes can be awkward. There's always that feeling that, if you don't know the person behind the curtain, you'll be intruding somehow. Don't worry. We've all been there. Still, it's nice to have that little reassurance that hey, it's cool. We're all in this together and we just want to play.

That's where this meme comes in! The point here is to play with someone you've never played with before, OR play with a character/canon you're unfamiliar with. The prompts provided include mundane activities, chance meetings, platonic fluff, romance/smut, fighting, and crack. This is pretty much the granddaddy of meme variety, so there should be something for just about everyone.

INSTRUCTIONS
- Comment with you character(s). In the subject field, put all the info that's relevant + any preferences.
- Reply to others. Remember, the goal is to play with new people!
- The initial set of prompts is in this post. The subsequent sets are linked GoogleDocs.

[ how thrilling is it to actually come in and be part of this team? incredibly thrilling. he's silent as he stands by the wall, awaiting for someone to come outside so he can actually start work, or ... be lectured? what exactly will this job entail? he's just an assistant, after all. that could range from... anything to nothing.

he'll just have to wait. ]

[And wait he will, just a little before Cinna emerges from behind a door with an opaque window. He closes it behind him before leaning against the wall directly opposing Riku. Fingers laced together in front of him.] So you're Riku.

[Why yes he is surveying Riku as calmly as he speaks.] I'm Cinna, the head stylist. You're my new assistant, correct?

[ granted, Riku may have expected someone different--someone more ... well, he supposes normal for his standards are pulled and colored skin and parts. he tries not to show a slight flash of wonder, putting on a professional face. ]

That's me.

I've heard good things about you.

[He straightens up.] You'll be introduced to the prep team; Venia, Octavia and Flavius. You'll get to know them and you'll be working alongside them when I don't have you busy.

If they ask you to do something when you're not busy, you can do it. If you are busy, you do it later. Don't doubt what they tell you, don't doubt what I tell you to do. Also, all decisions need to be finalized by me.

[He smiles.] So far so good?

[ right. he nods every now and then, trying to grasp onto the names as quick as he can, taking careful measure to remember which goes first, what's most important. it's meticulous work--details have to be remembered, he knows. if he had a pad of paper, he'd be taking notes.

there's a moment of hesitance when Cinna smiles--he has to review everything he's taken note of. Venia, Octavia and Flavius, will work along them when not busy, do what they ask if not busy, if busy, schedule for later. don't doubt the team. all decisions brought to Cinna and finalized.

mmhm. he's got everything; a ghost of a smile appears on Riku's face. ]

Yeah. I've got it.

It'll be overwhelming. But if you're as as good as I've heard, you'll manage.

[He tilts his head.] The prep team are finishing something for me right now, I'll introduce you to them later. If things aren't overwhelming yet, they certainly will be then. [Lightly amused, his prep team is really something-- you'll see.]

Do you have any questions?

[ he definitely wonders what they're like, hearing Cinna speak about them now. it already sounds daunting, but he isn't a slouch when it comes to hard work. ]

Guess I'll just brace myself.

[ a beat. ]

Not really... maybe just why you need an assistant. You look like you've got everything under control. [ not worried or frantic, and he'd seen that behavior from practically everyone else he'd worked for. ] It's probably a bad idea to question my position, though.

I might not need another set of hands all the time but when things get going, they get going. I'd hope to hire someone who truly appreciates fashion and mentor them with what I know. But either way there's work experience to be had, which I don't mind handing out.

[ the fact that he got an answer brings a touch of surprise to his face--that ghost of a smile shapes into a real one. ]

Then I won't let you down, as overwhelming as things get.

[Katniss sits across from him, staring for a moment and just chewing on her words.]

Ah... I usually have Katniss mid Mockingjay but if we want a LIVING Cinna that's cool too LOL... :3c (sorry i totally realized i didn't answer that question LOL duur)

[His sits back in his chair, watching her. Waiting for her to ready her words.]

I saw you - they... they took you away...[Her voice practically breaks at the memories coupled with her attempt at speaking.]

I'm sorry for that. [He knew what it meant for him when he designed that dress, rigging it up. He's not apologizing for his work.

The apologetic tone is for what she had to witness, for Katniss.] To unnerve you before the Games... I didn't think it would happen like that.

[A dry laugh. It was something of a game between her and Snow, how much could he break her?]

It wasn't your totally your fault. [She laughs a bit more freely. The dress had had been his fault.]

I uhm... wow I don't even know where to start.

I know what I designed. [A thin smile, he is responsible for what he designs as well.]

It let me be a part of your transformation. [So tell him, how did that go for you?]

Well it worked. We're still getting the districts on our side but I... went through the Quarter Quell and they broke us out of the arena. I got through it.

Thank you... [She whispers that last part.]

[His lips keep quirked, and he leans forward with his hand slipping across the surface, palm up for hers.] No, thank you, Katniss.
