Oh, pray do not tell me you dislike my monologues! Surely my smooth voice and perfect poetry elicit some form of pleasure from those overly long ears of yours.
i've the Gold Saucer's little games well in hand. 'tis the reading i struggle with. you lot don't leave me with much time to practice, you know. just as soon as i'm three pages deep, something's on fire or there're people being kidnapped and used for horrendous things
Ah, so it is reading my texts that overwhelms you so.
My replies are long because you give me much to think about. That is a rare compliment, by the way, accept it in the spirit it is intended.
So many long evenings are spent in that empty palace with Lord Zenos. Days can pass without him even looking at me. As I am sure you can imagine, he is not a compelling conversationalist.
a compliment it is. it is heartening to know that you consider aught i have to say for longer than it takes to read the words, honestly. [ dangerous, to give the guileless hero more reason to hope. ]
that sounds wretched, you know. lonely. i wish you would give something new a chance. are you truly so set in your ways that you would not consider attempting to put yourself in a warmer, more welcoming atmosphere? this world is not the one it was even a year ago. there is much in it to love.
seven hells!! you're all always so quick to talk about how you don't need food for sustenance!! i know!! it is ridiculous!! are you so divorced from the pleasures of living?? who eats food because they have to?? food is amazing!!
have you even tried a lime?? barbecue sauce?? grilled mushrooms?? ICE CREAM?????? F R I E D P O P O T O E S???
you're coming to Radz-at-Han. you are getting curry with me. i will not take no for an answer. if it makes you feel better, you can tell me all about your nightmarish scenarios and dark echoes while we eat.
[Upon arrival at the Aetheryte one of the first things one may notice, beyond the pleasant bustle of activity and scents of spices in the breeze, is a young woman running through the plaza, screaming and holding a tray of something that was once food. Whatever it was, it's a fireball now and it leaves a smoking trail behind her.
[ Weight shifted to one leg and arms folded back behind his head, catching one ear, the Warrior tracks the panicked girl's path with lifted brows. It'd be wise to pursue, to render aid or at least keep an eye on her, but then, his attention is pulled away.
More surprises. Viktor does not bother to stop the faint upward tug at the corners of his mouth. ]
You could've taken the credit and I'd've believed you, you know. [ His lips part, he hangs a moment, then knocks his head in the direction the young woman went. ] Don't suppose you'd be amenable to a detour before our meal?
[ a one shoulder shrug, lazy and good-natured. ] Rectification is m-my business.
[ he glides easily past the words that want to stick to his tongue, on to answer the next question. ] You've my word that the wait will make the meal sweeter. And- hells, if it's gotten out of hand, I may even require your assistance! That's not w-waiting at all. [ a put-on gasp, a bright smile, and then he sets off. ]
Aye, and I'd p-put up twice the f-fuss if you tried!
[ even with Radz-at-Han's lively streets, the girl is not hard to track. the acrid smell of burnt food and smoke lingers along her path, even where the plume that trailed her has dissipated. viktor follows, glancing back every so often to ensure fandaniel is still behind - perhaps it is mistrust? or is he simply making sure he hasn't moved too quickly?
either way, viktor does not let fandaniel fall too far behind. and it is not a long trek, anyway. the girl is crouched before the fountains near the city gate. her platter dumped beside the basin, still smoldering, her hands submerged in water. ]
I will s-see to her. [ a glance fandaniel's way. perhaps an excessive amount of trust placed in a being who regularly proclaims to want everyone to die horribly. ] You can h-hang back if you'd prefer. 'Twill be but a moment.
[Fandaniel trails behind Viktor, close enough to always be seen but far enough to playfully twirl and swerve around the people who move between them. His hips sway in rhythm to a tune that plays only in his mind; a ballad from Belah'dia about an adventurer with a very long saber and all the women who loved him for it.
He comes to a stop when the Warrior does and a cold smirk lifts the corner of his lips.]
Go then. I promise not to do anything too terrible in your absence.
[ but a moment. in a few steps, viktor is beside the girl. the tray, pushed aside. he gains her attention with the lightest touch. words are exchanged. the girl's sobbing slows. injured hands, presented. a flick of fingers and aether swirls. a sparkle of his Mother's Light pressed to reddened palms, soothing, chilling. new flowers, aether lilies, white touched with red, sprout and open in viktor's air, at his ears. a sin eater, still.
he plucks the one that grows at the nape of his neck and holds it out in offering. goads a smile out of the girl as she takes it, peering curiously at the softly glowing petals. viktor stands. a few more words. then he turns, points right at fandaniel, and the girl giggles.
there, they part. viktor strolls away, arms stretched lazily over his head as he returns to fandaniel's side. ]
All better. Foment any new d-dark and wicked plots while I was busy? Or just working on that appetite?
[Fandaniel watches as Viktor approaches the girl and speaks to her. New flowers blossom along his hair, a curious sight that the Ascian isn't sure he understands.
After a moment he lifts his gaze to study the high walls of Radz-at-Han, covered in glittering mosaics and brilliant silk tapestries, all of which might as well be overcast in gray for all the beauty they hold to him.
A particular mosaic catches his eye, depicting three dancing figures that he recognizes as the triple goddess the locals call the Magus Sisters. What are you three so damnably happy about?
He looks back to the fountain in time to see Viktor point him out to the girl, who giggles in response.]
Oh, nothing so dark and wicked you need to worry about it just yet.
[Fandaniel has to lift his chin as the Warrior of Light returns to his side, just to meet the taller man's gaze.]
I hope whatever joke you just made at my expense was a funny one.

Now.
What thing is it that I do? The omnicide thing? Is that what we're talking about?
no subject
well, yes, that. obviously.
but also sometimes i struggle to keep up with all the monologues.

no subject
but it IS an awful lot of words, and i am poor at keeping up.
how am i to better understand you if i cannot keep up with it?

You must read a book or two. Play a few games of skill at the Gold Saucer. Limber up your mind and you will follow my words.
Honestly, wishing for me to speak less when I need to fill the air for myself and my Lord... How selfish.

You and yours should worry about that.

I cannot even remember the last time I sat down for a proper meal. It must have been around the time the Republic of Garlemald was formed.

A voice lilts behind Viktor.]
Believe it or not, I had nothing to do with that.

[He folds his arms over his chest and his dark silver eyes slowly drift in the direction Viktor nods toward.
For a long moment, he is silent, then...]
Whims, it would seem, you would like to correct, hmm?
It's been centuries since I last ate a meal and you'd have me wait?

[A deep, overly theatrical sigh as he throws his hands into the air.]
Very well, noble hero, lead on.
