there's only one bed!

Two characters have to share a room for the night. Every room is occupied, but fortunately there is one last room available.

There's just one problem — there's only one bed, and the characters aren't comfortable sharing it.

Let me support you while you walk, at least.

[ Logan is chuffed by the comment about how it's addicting, and it shows in how he straightens up a little too, presenting his chest a little in subconscious pride. ]

Lean on me. Okay?

[ He throws an arm around his shoulders. ]

[That gets another huff, but he acquiesces, leaning into Logan with a sigh.]

I'm taking my clothes and jacket with me. The latter needs... the mess taken off.

[He does, however, brush a kiss to Logan's scruffy jaw.]

...I've been relying on you a lot.

[Trying to say "sorry" without using the word outright.]

[ He senses the apology and he's not for it. ]

So? I'm sure if I ever run into trouble, you'll let me rely on you too. It's fine.

[ He makes sure they stop by the clothes on the way out, so he can grab them. ]

[That gets an audible grumble, making a point to do the work to pick up his own stuff, thank you.]

You're making it harder for me to keep hating myself, you know that?

[He phrases it with a complaining tone on purpose.]

Gods.

Good.

[ Logan looks at him, satisfied with what he's heard, a bit smug about it. ]

Because you don't deserve to hate yourself. I don't hate you, and never will.

[ Maybe this is part of how he pays back how Wade saved him, by helping someone else. ]

...This is the part where I say "you suck" like a hormonal teenager, but don't mean it in the slightest.

[Alivian tucks his boots under one arm with a sigh, and makes sure his mask and other belongings are in his jacket pocket. He glances over at Logan, and then nods at the door. He's ready to clean up if he is.]

Ready to try again to keep our hands off each other?

Speaking of being like a hormonal teenager...

[ Logan shakes his head and laughs. ]

I'll keep my hands to myself. At least for an hour.

[ He opens the door to head out. ]

[This time, at least, they do. Alivian cleans up, dresses, and gets fully settled before resolving to head back with him. He's absently grabbed onto Logan's wrist during the walk, only to frown when a sensation of something rippling past them like water manifests, and instead, they're in the depths of a forest, the trees towering high and blotting out a majority of the sunlight.

[The air smells different, and Alivian coughs a little.]

Um. We're both awake, right now, right?

....we are.

[ It smells so familiar. He focuses on the scent of modern society wafting through from the edges of the trees. ]

I think we're - we could be at my home.

It smells like it.

...Ah.

[His ears airplane, but he moves to put his mask back on in a hurry, just in case, and starts to tug on his coat, too, in order to reattach the hood and stick it back on his head. He can faintly hear people beyond the trees.

[Absently, he tugs his hood down a bit, as if to hide even his masked eyes. Trepidation oozes from his scent, but his expression remains neutral.]

Don't be afraid of the people. You won't - you won't hurt them.

[ He knows that's what Alivian is scared of. He knows that's why he's hiding himself. ]

Come on.

[ He reaches out to try to take his hand. ]

What if I do???

[He takes Logan's hand a bit too hard (for most people,) but doesn't hesitate to fall into step next to him, his hold nervous and trembling.]

What if they look at me and can just tell that I'm.. that I'm dangerous??

[As a fear response takes hold, Alivian struggles to calm himself, but clings to Logan's hand for support.

[He trusts him enough that he isn't even attempting to run away.]

[ Logan shakes his head. He's had similar thoughts all his life, he knows this path well, which means he can also combat it. ]

I've always wondered that. Nobody's figured me out yet, except the good people, and then they help me.

The only people I've hurt is those cruising for a fight.

[ Okay, that's not necessarily true, but he's trying to be optimistic here. ]

You?? But you're--

[Alivian stops, stares, and clears his throat. Of course he understands the moment the words leave his mouth.]

...You're like a scruffy stuffie.

[Flat stare.]

...what?

[ Logan starts laughing. Rogue used to tell him the same damn thing, or at least similar, but he hasn't heard it in awhile. ]

I'm nice to you. A lot of people, I'm not.

[ He continues to walk and tugs on his hand to follow. ]

[The laughter prompts Alivian to smile, and he doesn't need to be urged twice to keep following.]

Why not?

[ Logan grumbles. It's hard to explain how he feels a temper rising at most people, and he can't really control it. How because his genetics can make him slightly feral, he can get animalistic at people without noticing. ]

They're assholes.

[ Yeah, he's not even trying. ]

[Excuse me, sir.]

But you want me to have faith in the people here... but they're assholes?

Assholes doesn't mean they're not good people.

It just means they have poor attitudes.

[ He sighs. Maybe he should try to explain, but it seems so difficult. ]

...or maybe I have a poor attitude. I feel a quick temper, all the time, when I'm not paying attention. It's like a really angry animal.

[Alivian squeezes his hand and tries to get Logan to stop marching on, get him to face him for a moment. Or he'll step in front of Logan to face him, instead]

I don't smell it on you. Do I incite your temper, too?

[He's not accusing, and only just wants to know.]

[ Alivian does end up having to step in front of him, and Logan stops at that point. He sighs. ]

No, you don't. Maybe it's because I feel a kinship with you? Because you're a wolf.

But I never really felt a temper towards Jean, either. So it might just be my feelings.

[ He tilts his head a little. ]

Everything you are, all I do is love, not get angry.

[Alivian's ear flicks where it is under his hood at that, his cheeks burning bright pink at such a casual declaration. He clears his throat and pulls back a bit, flustered.]

I, uh. I see. Point taken.

[He steps aside then, heart racing in a way that gives his nerves the jitters.

["Everything you are, all I do is love."]

Wait a moment.

[ He steps towards him again and places his hand on his bright cheek, before leaning in and kissing him underneath that hood. ]

Just something to steel your nerves before we get out of this forest.

[This added kiss is about enough to make him look like Flower from Bambi. He's too flustered to come up with any sort of retort, and only just stares at him with a slightly-dropped jaw.

[It's super-effective; his hand doesn't stop trembling, now thanks to a pulse that races from affection.]

[ Logan puffs his cheeks and then smirks at him. ]

You alright?

[ He's gently teasing in his statement. Oh, he knows he's alright. But he's going to make a slightly big deal out of this. ]
