Life is hard. You can go through rough patches and over bumps, and sometimes it feels as though you're definitely worse for the wear, both physically and mentally. It's nice to have someone - someone more than a friend - there for you in those times...even if you don't think you want them or deserve them. But they're here, and they'll take care of you.

How to Play:
* This is a shipping meme for more tender, soft moments, but a little more serious than your usual "fluff." It's for people who've been broken down by their experience and those who wish to heal them.
* Comment with your character/your preferences. You may also want to specify whether your character will be the one "cared for" or the one doing the "caring" + pertinent information, but for most effectiveness, it's best to be open to both.
* Comment around.

Prompts
1. Know You've Been Hurt By Someone Else: There are scars left on their heart from a past relationship or fling, and you have to let them know you're not the same way.
2. Can Tell By the Way You Carry Yourself: The person you have feelings for is one of those "cold stone wall" types who pushes people away. Can you get past that?
3. I've Asked About You: You've only heard bad things about this person, but you don't believe it.
4. What's a Life with No Fun: Lighten up a bit! You'd do anything to bring a smile to their face.
5. Please Don't Be So Ashamed: You have a big, BIG secret you don't want the other person to find out about, because surely they wouldn't want to even be near you if they did.
6. I've Had Mine, You've Had Yours: You've both had problems, and it could help to compare wounds so they can begin to heal.
7. Those Lies Heal: Protecting your loved one is more important that the truth, isn't it? It's a lie, but there are good intentions here.
8. You Can't Sleep: Because of past trauma, you're having a sleepless night. Luckily, this time you have somebody to help you and give you some comfort.
9. You Cry Still: The obligatory "seeing your significant other/love cry over something and wanting to make them stop at any cost" option.

18. We All Have Our Nights: Your lover, because of their past experience, is having a complete breakdown. You have to bring them back from the edge.
19. You Don't Say You Love Me: You both know how you feel, but one of you is having problems saying the four letter word. That's okay, though. Your lover understands.
20. To Save You: After months or years, you've both worked on the problems and old scars and you might just be ready to start something resembling a normal love.

[ She flips the flashlight off, trying to let her eyes adjust to the dimness in his room. ]

Because you were asleep! Waking you up would have been rude.

[This look, Jade.]

You said I could come over!

Yeah, come over. Not come over and creep on the end of my bed. You generally wake someone up when you want to be around them.

[ Jade is visibly flustered and embarrassed, now. ]

I wasn't trying to creep! I just - I didn't want to keep you up, you were tired, I just really - didn't want to be alone. Sorry! Sorry.

[As grumpy as he was at being woken up, he didn't want to have her actually upset.]

Stoooooooop. Just stop. It's okay. You're here now and I'm up and it's fine. So what's up? Why can't you sleep?

[ She fidgets, shuts her book and kind of just shrugs listlessly. ]

Bad dreams.

So you thought you'd pass them on to me?

[You scared the crap out of him, Jade. He was allowed to be a little snippy.]

No, I didn't know you wanted me to wake you up!

[ Huffily. ]

I can go!

Don't be a jerk.

[He held up one corner of the blankets while he wormed under them even further.]

Come on.

I'm not being a jerk! You're being a jerk.

[ But she hesitates, putting the book and flashlight on the ground by the bed and sort of crawling beneath the blankets with him. ]

-- I had one of those silly hats made, you know. It looks pretty funny with my ears sticking out.

Totally being a jerk.

[He dropped the blankets over her, then moved to curl up against her, hoping that maybe she'd just... drift off.]

It's supposed to look funny. That's the whole point of having a hat with ears.

I know. I think it's a different level of funny, though.

[ She responds immediately to the closeness, physically comforted by it, and curls her hand into a loose fist against his side. ]

And nuh uh. I'm never a jerk.

You're totally a jerk. The jerkiest of all jerk kind.

[He yawned, hiding it against her hair. Or, trying to.]

I'm sure it looks fine, Jade.

[ He yawns and she lets her hand crawl a little, stroking his back softly through his shirt. The angle is a little awkward, but she's attempting to be soothing. ]

-- go back to sleep, Stiles.

You go back to sleep.

[He's trying to tuck around her, but he's not quite sure where to put his own hands. They wind up somewhere near her waist, trying not to be too close to anything that might get him smacked.]

[ She doesn't seem to mind his hands, and instead just burrows a little closer. ]

Told you. I can't.

Sure you can. You jus' need to close your eyes and your mouth.

[It's nice and warm under the blankets and Jade smells nice. Why do girls always smell so nice?]

[ Because girls take great pains to smell nice. Enjoy the scent of that strawberry shampoo, Stiles, Jade pays like three bucks a bottle for it. ]

-- I'll have nightmares again.

[ It sounds really childish even to her. ]

Nuh uh. No nightmares allowed in my bed. Nightmare free zone. G'sleep.

[He was going to enjoy it, Jade. He was going to bury his nose in her hair and sniff.]

[ .. did he just smell her. ]

Way too awake to sleep, Stiles..

[ But she's yawning. :C ]

Lullaby and goodnight, sleepy sleep sleep sleep Jaaaaade. Sleepy Jaaade, sleepy Jaaaade, sleepy sleepy sleep sleep Jaaaaade.

[His hand might have moved to her back, wrapping around her and tucking her in even closer as he sang his very awesome lullaby of awesomeness.]

[ Jade is quiet for a nice, long minute. And then, face buried against his chest, her entire body trembles softly with barely suppressed laughter.

She mumbles: ]

... oh my god, Stiles, that was the funniest thing I've ever heard in my life.

[ She is clearly fighting sleep at this point. She sort of gently bumps her knees against his. ]

[He should be offended, but he's too busy smiling and enjoying the strawberry smell so close to his nose.]

Whatever. That was the best lullaby you've ever heard and now you're totally unable to stop yourself from falling asleep.

-- hehe. You're right, I lied. It was the best song I've ever heard in my life.

[ She shifts to get a little more comfortable, though, and briefly, dog-like, sort of snuffles her face against the crook of his neck. ]
