The "Wedding Dress" Meme
In the past, weddings and marriages were simply business contracts to bind family and property together. Though that remains in some cultures, weddings in the modern day tend to be a time of joy, commitment, and looking forward to the future. That is, of course, if you're the one getting married to the person you love. But what if that person is getting married, and you're the one on the outside looking in? Maybe they left you, maybe you didn't know a good thing until it was gone, or perhaps they were forced into marrying someone else.
That decision is made, and the only one that remains is this: what will you do?
HOW TO PLAY
- Comment with your character and preferences. State whether or not you want your character being the one married or the one crashing the wedding - the default state, and for best results, is characters being able to do both.
- Tag others.

1. Can't Believe What's Going On: You've just been told the "happy" news. How do you respond?
2. Screamin' Out of Control: There's still time before the wedding day. You could still talk them out of all this foolishness! You're the one they should be with!
3. Is It too Late?: Uh oh, it's the end of the line! You have to get to the church and crash this wedding.
4. Hurt the One I've Cared For: You were hesitant about trying to interfere, but then you heard the person your love is marrying has hurt them in some way.
5. I Was Never Perfect: You weren't exactly good to your ex-lover, and now you're willing to change. Too bad you picked this day to tell them that...
6. Making You Uncomfortable: This isn't a marriage of love, it's an arranged marriage! That stings even more, and you're determined to set things right.
7. Claimed Everything Was Okay: Right before the wedding, you're trying to get him/her to call it off, but they seem hesitant, even with the past history between you. They really love their spouse to be...or there's something else...
8. Gotta Keep My Cool, Be Calm: Okay, just barging in isn't the right thing to do. You have to find some way to get this wedding derailed, whether it be calling in an anonymous bomb threat, raising your army, or ordering party clowns.
9. No, No, No: There's nothing else to do but crash this in front of everyone the old fashioned way. I OBJECT!
10. I Know We're Done: It's your wedding being interrupted by a familiar face! Are you angry? Hurt? Happy?
11. Cause You Should Be My Lady: You're one of those people of dubious morals, so when in doubt, kidnap the object of your affection so they can't get married! Great plan!
12. Take My Hand: Or, on the other, more ethical side, they've come along with you and the two of you are going to start a life away from all of this.
13. I'd Never Let It Go: You may not even love this person or your love may not yet be clear, but one thing's for certain, and that's that you don't want to share or give them up.
14. Life Carries On: You've decided to let the wedding go on and live with your regrets.

[He's getting older. Jane wasn't ready to settle down. There are so many reasons why, even though they were married on so many planets..this one is the one his ex wife was on.]

Damnit, Jane, what do you want me to say? That we should make what we vowed on those other planets legal on this one? They'll kick me off the ship! They'll kick you off the ship! And--and I gotta think of Jojo on this one.

[Jane releases him with a jerk and stomps across the room to the large paned window. She presses her forehead to the glass and let's out a deep sigh. Every bit of her is trembling, including her voice.]
Regulations allow for married couples to serve on the same ship and always have. The only thing stopping you is thinking Jocelyn has a leg to stand on when it comes to Jo's happiness, which is bullshit. You think anyone is happy the two of you are doing this? You think Joanna is? No kid wants to sit around and watch their parents hate each other because they're both so stupid.

[There's an insistant knocking on the door and Jocelyn's voice filtering through asking what the hell was taking him so long. Leonard runs a hand through his hair. He couldn't lose Jane. But he couldn't lose his daughter either.]

She's a smart kid. She just wants her daddy however she can get him. And trust me, she wants you happy.
[What you think they never once talked after that summer? Jane probably knows more about Joanna's feelings here than her parents. Sometimes it's easier to talk to someone not related.
Actually, he probably ought to be worried about what kind of advice Jane's been giving his baby girl since she's not really a baby anymore.]

[Now who is the one acting stupid? Jane swings around and grabs him by the shoulders, and not for the first time, hates how tiny she is.]
I love you. I am not me if you are not around. [It's got to be some sort of problem that he's her moral compass and she's the one giving advice right now. It's got to be a problem that she wants to open the door just to slam it in whichever family member's face is standing out there trying to get in.] You made me a better person, Bones. You know that, right?

[Jocelyn makes a move toward Jane but Leonard steps in his ex-wife's way, face exactly like he'd been]

[Jane waves gamely at Jocelyn right before the door shuts in her face, and Jane, being Jane, locks it with a defiant click. But then she wavers.]

[His whole family is going to hate her .All of them but Jojo who was, in Jane's opinion, the only person who counted. But Bones actually liked his family. Hell, he loved them, and Jane couldn't begin to understand what he might be thinking right now.]

[He grabs her and kisses her with all he's got. Leonard genuinely hopes this doesn't lead to a court martial of any sort. When he pulls away, he goes and opens up a window]

[Oh hell, a court martial is the last of their concerns. They're going to have to face your grandmother at some point, Bones. Priorities, man! Jane's heart swoops and her brain checks out for a good ten seconds and she staggers a little when he leaves her standing there on unsteady feet.
She checks herself just in time for him to open a window and she slips right past him to swing her legs over the windowsill.]
Probably. [She practically beams. Her smile is blinding when she hops out of the church, landing in a bush.]
But you've gotta admit, you're sure as hell never going to be bored.
