the drunk meme

The Drunk Meme
1. Drinking Games. You're at that special level of drunkenness where previously unimagined things start to sound like a good idea, like another drink. It's cool, I know this great game that will inevitably end with everyone involved being totally wasted. You play until... shit, what were the rules again?
2. Unsolicited Advice. Oh man, you suddenly know the solutions to all of life's mysteries. All it took to figure it all out was half a pint of whiskey! It's time to tell all your friends how to fix the problems with their personal lives, whether they want you to or not.
3. Drunk Texting. Frankly, you can't IMAGINE why anyone wouldn't want to hear about how drunk you are right now. If only you could remember where the vowels are on this tiny keyboard. Drawing inspiration from TFLN is encouraged.
4. Tell them How You Really Feel. You lost some of your less important inhibitions three or four drinks ago, and it's time to tell it how it is! Time to hunt down the person you love, or possibly the person you hate, or even just the person you don't ACTUALLY despise, and bare your heart to them in a way that you'll almost definitely regret tomorrow morning.
5. Karaoke. Shot through the heart, and you're to blame! You give love... a bad... something...
6. Terrible Ideas. This is going to be so awesome, guys. I've got the skateboard, and I'm handcuffed to Steve... is the camera rolling? And who's lighting the fireworks?
7. Flirting. While all that booze may not have enhanced your charm, it certainly did wonders for your ego! Time to find all the hottest dudes and/or chicks in this place and make them swoon before your gin-powered charisma.
8. On the Streets. What better way to follow up a good bar run than by drunkenly wandering the streets in the middle of the night? There may be loud, embarrassing singing. There may be puking in the gutter. You may be completely lost, and not sure why that police officer is speaking Italian.
9. Take Me Home Tonight. Yeah, it's time to go home but you're not going alone, time to drag someone home for a hook up. Let's just hope you can get your body to agree or don't fall asleep first
10. The Next Day. All that you took with you from last night's adventures was a blur of jumbled, confusing memories, a lampshade with googly eyes drawn on it taped to your head, and a brutal hangover. What exactly happened here? And who's that sleeping next to you?

Seth | Lost Odyssey
no subject
And she had wanted a small amount of time to compose her thoughts in solitude. It wasn't every day she invited pirates into her home, after all! But she had no fear, none whatsoever. Seth was, if nothing else, a good woman and one who's soul was true. She had seen that, in her eyes.
No, it wasn't the presence of pirates that had her in deep thought, it was simply the encroaching of the outside world upon Numara. It excited and frightened her at once. For over five hundred years the islands remained, for the most part, untouched by any outside influence. Ming herself had never traveled beyond her own small sea since coming to them. But when Seth had boarded her ship...
Even she needed some excitement in her life. And this way it was contained and safe. Besides, Seth was her own kin. And she had never met one of her own kin before, she wanted to learn as much as she could. Seth's life was the very opposite of hers, embracing everything Ming had denied herself. Beyond that, there was just something about the fiery spirited woman that drew Ming. Something captivating and hard to place.
When she had finished her tasks for the day and delegated everything else, she returned to the private suite she had had prepared for Captain Balmore. She had ordered a late lunch sent before her, with a variety of refreshments, so that they could dine together.
She hoped Seth hadn't stood on ceremony and waited for her to join...

And when the food came she had been eager to dig in, but knew that it was proper to wait. Though a pirate she was, she could manage some manners for the Queen. So Seth had brushed off the servants, putting together the final preparations for their meal herself. She mixed them both drinks, setting their plates across from one another at the table.
Even though it would be time to go before she knew it, Seth would savor the time she had at the palace. Ming was a kind and fascinating woman; it was only a matter of time before she returned.

Ming could see from the moment she entered the suite that Seth had done just that. Which was very kind, but hardly necessary. "I imagine you don't see spreads like this often on your ship. I can't imagine that, making a ship my home!"
Never feeling connected to a place, knowing a place as intimately as knowing her own body...it was such a strange way to think of living. But the things that Seth must have seen! It was the price to be paid for those things, and Seth certainly didn't seem to mind paying it.
How strange, that they were the same and yet so very different! Ming took a seat on the low couch across from the pirate captain, folding her hands demurely in her lap for the moment. And places already set, how sweet!
no subject
"Of course I did! After what I owe you?" She shrugged, settling back down into her chair. She wasn't used to sitting in anything so soft. Seth took a sip from her drink. "Waiting for you to get back is the least I could do."
Seth plucked a grape from a fruit basket, tossing it into her mouth.
"Everything go alright today?"
no subject
"And yes, thank you. The minutia of the monarchy are more tedious than anything. Signing things and reading lists, it's almost impossible to make a mistake!" Certainly at this point. "I hardly even think about it at this point. It's been the same for centuries. We may advance and birth new discoveries regularly, but in truth, Numara herself changes very little."
Or as little as possible, while still growing and evolving. Ming liked it that way. Some things, those she could control at least, were always the same. Out of politeness, she folded a napkin across her lap and surveyed lunch. She was hungry.
no subject
"I can't imagine being holed up here every day. Doesn't it get boring?" She started piling food on her plate. She hadn't seen so much of it in years!
no subject
"I suppose sometimes. But I don't spend every moment here inside the palace. Numara's larger than just her capital city. The hills and forests are beautiful, and the rivers lead to all sorts of secret places, hidden back in the deepest parts of the country."
And she knew it all, though every so often the landscape had changed enough to surprise her.
no subject
"Sorry if this is forward, but..." She frowned, slightly. "Are you lonely?" She seemed so, had that weary look in her eye that came from solitude.
no subject
"You're a forward woman," she said, mildly. Seth's bluntness didn't bother her. In a way it was refreshing. But still, it was a question she didn't quite want to answer straight out. Rather than forward, she felt it an intensely personal question. But her loneliness was a private thing.
"Aren't all of us, who go on without end, lonely in one way or another?"
no subject
"I'm sorry," she said quietly. She took another sip of her drink. "You have a point. It doesn't have to be all bad, though." Though Ming didn't out and out show it, Seth could tell that she shouldn't have asked. But she didn't understand, really, how someone could be so guarded. It simply wasn't her nature.
no subject
She began placing food on her own plate, a small smile still on her lips.
"And surely even you, in all your travels, have never seen a land as beautiful as Numara."
no subject
"It's a gorgeous place, yeah." Seth glanced out the window, smiling. "I have to admit, it sure is something else." The architecture, the weather, the plants, the people... Yes, this was a beautiful place. "All thanks to you, no doubt."
no subject
Ming stood, taking her drink and moving to stand before the large window that looked out over the ocean.
"I don't think I could truly ever live far from the sea." She turned a warm smile to Seth. "You and I have that in common. There's something about it..." She sipped her drink and watched the waves, taking in the peace they brought her. It, at least, was always there.
"Sometimes I think I have more in common with the sea than any person."
no subject
There was no way she could be that lightweight... Could she?
"How come?"
no subject
Seth had asked her a question. She responded, not turning, without thinking.
"We are both ancient things that never truly change, and legends have sprung up around us both. Our faces, even when calm, cover a multitude of mysteries. We're fluid, flowing and graceful but far stronger than any would ever guess. And we know so many secrets that man could never conceive of even in dreams."
Yes, at the moment, she felt quite bound to the sea.
no subject
"Do you think about stuff like this often?" She wasn't sure where to go with the current conversation. And she was beginning to regret mixing Ming's drink without asking first. She had assumed it was normal, but...
Clearly not.
no subject
She would think that of anyone, an Immortal who lived her life on the waves could understand. But her thinking seemed tired all of a sudden, languid. Like swimming slowly through warm water. Which wasn't an unpleasant feeling, really.
"Don't you ever wish you had a place to call your own?"
no subject
"And that's the beauty of being a pirate. I have the whole world to call my own." She leaned back in her chair, still sipping at her own drink. "The sea is jut how I get there."
no subject
As much as she longed for something new, the thought of such a boundless existence in such a wide wide world made her shiver.
"And I like to know that no matter where I am, I always have my own bed and my own home waiting for me." Not that she went terribly far, but the furthest island of Numara was a day's travel.
no subject
"And you always have a home waiting among your friends." Seth would rather sleep on the floor and in good company than alone in a bed to call all her own.
But perhaps this all tied into the sense of loneliness she had picked up.
no subject
Ming colored and placed her hand over her mouth. She hadn't meant to sound as though she dismissed the very concept of friendship! "I only mean that there are certain comforts I'm very used to, and would hate to think weren't there whenever I wanted them. And while, in theory, a friend can be found anywhere, my own bed is only in my own bedroom here. I'm almost ashamed to admit it, but I do like my comforts."
In many ways, they were the only things she could take in joy in.
no subject
"Good to know I'm on par with your mattress," she said sarcastically. At least she hoped she counted as a friend, now. She could understand the need for the simplicity of a permanent home, but it would never be for her.
"I think the endless is a lot less frightening if you face it with friends, though. Maybe you'd feel more comfortable if you stretched out a bit more."
no subject
"And I'm sure that may be the case, but even then, it's still something that can be frightening." She pursed her lips, thoughtful. "To someone like you...surely living as I do seems frightening. Remaining still, the same view every morning, the same people and streets. And that's alright - we're different, you and I. Our hearts sing different songs, that's all. You're a wild thing, Captain Balmore, and a wild thing needs to be free. I am not. My pleasure is Numara, and I am a tame thing that belongs to her."
She didn't know how else to explain, to make Seth understand. She seemed snagged on this idea of loneliness, no matter how Ming attempted to turn the conversation away!
no subject
"I get it, really. We're different. Quite the opposite, really, in many respects." She crossed her legs, unable to shake from her mind how cute she was, flushed and fumbling with her words. It was a silly notion, but one that Seth didn't mind pondering.
