the drunk meme

The Drunk Meme
1. Drinking Games. You're at that special level of drunkenness where previously unimagined things start to sound like a good idea, like another drink. It's cool, I know this great game that will inevitably end with everyone involved being totally wasted. You play until... shit, what were the rules again?
2. Unsolicited Advice. Oh man, you suddenly know the solutions to all of life's mysteries. All it took to figure it all out was half a pint of whiskey! It's time to tell all your friends how to fix the problems with their personal lives, whether they want you to or not.
3. Drunk Texting. Frankly, you can't IMAGINE why anyone wouldn't want to hear about how drunk you are right now. If only you could remember where the vowels are on this tiny keyboard. Drawing inspiration from TFLN is encouraged.
4. Tell them How You Really Feel. You lost some of your less important inhibitions three or four drinks ago, and it's time to tell it how it is! Time to hunt down the person you love, or possibly the person you hate, or even just the person you don't ACTUALLY despise, and bare your heart to them in a way that you'll almost definitely regret tomorrow morning.
5. Karaoke. Shot through the heart, and you're to blame! You give love... a bad... something...
6. Terrible Ideas. This is going to be so awesome, guys. I've got the skateboard, and I'm handcuffed to Steve... is the camera rolling? And who's lighting the fireworks?
7. Flirting. While all that booze may not have enhanced your charm, it certainly did wonders for your ego! Time to find all the hottest dudes and/or chicks in this place and make them swoon before your gin-powered charisma.
8. On the Streets. What better way to follow up a good bar run than by drunkenly wandering the streets in the middle of the night? There may be loud, embarrassing singing. There may be puking in the gutter. You may be completely lost, and not sure why that police officer is speaking Italian.
9. Take Me Home Tonight. Yeah, it's time to go home but you're not going alone, time to drag someone home for a hook up. Let's just hope you can get your body to agree or don't fall asleep first
10. The Next Day. All that you took with you from last night's adventures was a blur of jumbled, confusing memories, a lampshade with googly eyes drawn on it taped to your head, and a brutal hangover. What exactly happened here? And who's that sleeping next to you?

"Anything I can help with?" She might as well offer. Seth knew that there were servants for this sort of thing, but it was polite to ask, right?
no subject
No, within moments, a trio of handmaidens had descended and set up a changing screen. Ming disappeared under them and behind it, the young women skillfully and speedily outfitting her in a far more simple, Grecian style gown that fell to just below her knees. Far more comfortable and practical for their little journey! The belt, though intricate and ornate, was adorned with a variety of small pouches and compartments.
Far simpler than packs!
no subject
Nope, there's the screen. Damn.
"...You're not too tipsy, are you?" Seth knew better than to trust the words of a drunken woman, but she seemed to be sobering up relatively quickly. And she had hardly had any alcohol! Seth smiled to herself.

She supposed it was an easy mistake. She was flushed and giddy, after all. But it was only the prospect of getting out.
Wasn't it?
no subject
"I had no idea!-" But wait. None of the aids had realized. Ming clearly had no idea...
"How come there's a rule like that?" Seth ought to just change the subject. Thankfully, though, she was quite good at covering her tracks after all these years of living life as a pirate. She could just pretend it had never happened!
no subject
"Because I prefer it that way," she said, carefully. "It's my rule and I keep it for personal reasons."
There was no need to share those particular reasons. Her need to always be in complete control of herself, to never have a moment where she could be caught off guard. She could not afford it, for so many reasons! But the story behind it all was not one she wished to share. It was painful and personal and something she wished she could forget.
"Now, if we're all ready, I believe we can make our way down to canal!"
no subject
Instead, she popped up from her seat in one fluid motion, putting a smile back on.
"Lead the way, my queen!" she replied with a wink.
no subject
And Seth was like her! Another immortal! Someone who couldn't leave her life, not permanently anyway. What was the harm in light flirtation? Even Immortal queens had needs and desires that couldn't be tended to in a solitary nature. Physical gratification was easy enough, but not companionship.
And for at least a small time, however long Seth was willing to stay, Ming could have that.
"Come along, if we're lucky we can hit our destination just when the sun's begun to touch the mountains..."
no subject
"How long's the trip?" she asked out of simple curiosity and the desire to keep conversation going. Seth tended to get chatty when she got excited. She hadn't done anything of the 'dating' nature in a long time. It was difficult to actively look, living the way she did. Not to mention her lifespan often posed problems.
But Ming seemed actively interested! It was a start, anyway!

They would leave from the canal that ran beside the palace, out to the sea and then hug the coast to the river mouth before sailing up it. It was...more private that way, rather than taking the canals through the city to meet with the river itself.
And the walk down to the canal was a quick and pleasant one.

Their ship was pleasantly small, a charming thing that had clearly been kept in excellent shape. Seth let go of Ming's arm, easily leaping aboard. She outstretched a hand to help Ming.
"Prepared to embark?" she asked with a smile and another quick wink.
no subject
"Everything is in order, Captain." She smiled impishly as she crossed her ankles, that giddy excitement rising up once more.
no subject
"Aye-aye, my queen!" It was with an almost primal energy that Seth took the helm. Little skiff she may be, but still a ship. The engine was fired up in no time, the boat flowing easily over the open sea. Maneuvering something so small was a piece of cake compared to what Seth was used to.
She stole the occasional glance back at Ming, making sure she was doing alright.
no subject
"There will be an inlet up ahead," Ming called out, gesturing vaguely off to the side. "Turn in there, it's the mouth of the river we want to follow."
no subject
"It's quiet," she murmured with a touch of awe in her tone. No matter how many places she had seen, something new never ceased to amaze her. And Numara was unlike any other island country. There was something special about its forests, something Seth couldn't really put her finger on.
no subject
And she preferred it that way. A horizon full of ships wasn't a vista she'd any desire to gaze upon day in and day out.
"And the river will be entirely free of other boats. Once we travel further up, you'll note the dense vegetation along the banks. There's nothing at its head but a scenic area, so it's hardly ever used."
no subject
But she wasn't sure if she understood why the queen would go to such drastic measures to keep it so empty. Did everyone on Numara truly like this? Being so cut off from the rest of the world? The concept was one that Seth would never truly understand. She kept quiet about it, though.
Of course, this came with the vague realization of how lucky she was to be getting a personalized tour as an outsider. The thought made her smile.
"So do you always take prisoners in for lunch and bring them out on a tour of the islands?" She shot a grin over her shoulder, fairly certain that the answer was 'no'.
no subject
This was much for herself as it was for Seth. She wanted this, needed this brief feeling of kinship and camaraderie. Even though they'd only just met, Ming felt like she'd known the pirate captain for all of her life!
no subject
"Well then what do you call a captured pirate around here?" Now she turned around, giving Ming a playful smirk.
no subject
"I don't like to keep prisoners."
no subject
Seth tossed a playful smile over her shoulder. It was obvious her teasing was good natured.
no subject
"I wouldn't invite back anyone capable of doing me harm."
no subject
"I... Are you telling me that I was never a threat at all??" Sure, she had never intending on hurting the queen! But really! A pirate was to be powerful! Feared above all else! The mere mention of her name struck terror into the enemies' hearts!!
Apparently not! Seth was indignant.
no subject
Had she sounded Seth's pride? That hadn't been her intent at all!
no subject
"I guess you do have a point." She would concede defeat in this matter. "Who am I, a mere peasant in front of the Great Eternal Queen of Numara?" she added with a dramatic flourish of her hand.
