the MINOR INJURY meme

You or your meme partner has been hurt, but don't worry! This time around it's not that bad. You can still limp your way out of this mess.
INJURIES.
1. Sprain/strain. How did you screw up walking?
2. Broken bones. Simple fractures still hurt.
3. Cuts. Hopefully one of you has a sewing kit.
4. Burns. Location, location, location. Let's pray this one isn't on your ass.
5. Concussion. No, they're most likely not holding up fifteen fingers.
6. Other. I'm not a doctor.
HOW'D IT HAPPEN.
1. Stupidity. You did this to yourself.
2. Accident. Is an unintentional attack still an attack?
3. Attack. Don't lie, you deserved it.
4. Other. It's probably still your own fault.
WHERE'D IT HAPPEN.
1. Home. Did you remember to invest in a first aid kit?
2. School/Work. This should be excellent for getting you out of doing stuff!
3. Outdoors. Predators like the smell of blood. Clean up asap.
4. In the water. Hopefully there aren't any sharks!
5. Other. Like a hospital. That'd be handy.
Gabriel Starling | OC | OTA

He was aware he wasn't a teenager anymore and that the late nights would eventually catch up on him, but he persisted regardless.
It was as he rounded a corner and had to dodge a passerby with more speed than he was prepared for that he found his head swimming. His vision speckled at the edges. No matter how hard he tried to tell his body to keep going, it seemed that was the last straw.
He didn't get enough time to brace himself as he hit the floor. His ears rang, the site of impact blooming into burning pain.
Oh good. Another opportunity for the paparazzi to hound him. He wanted to yell at the person for not looking where they were going. He was half convinced they'd tripped him. Who in this city would even dare?]

That was who the scent belonged to. He thought it was familiar.
Stepping past the people who'd been stood there - and apparently done nothing, though he didn't like to assume - Gabriel crouched in front of him, and in the process blocked the view of a lot of the people slowing down to see what'd happened. As for the rest of them,
he turned around and addressed them as a whole in a voice that rarely found itself raised. ]
Can you give us some space here, please - I know him, I'll sort him out. Not much of a spectator sport, go on now.
[ Only once everyone had begun to move away did he turn his attention back to Kaiba. He'd hit his head, broken the skin - that much was immediately obvious. But he knew from experience how bad head trauma could be. Bringing his voice back down to normal volume, he hovered a hand over Kaiba's shoulder. ]
Hey- don't try to sit up too quickly. Just take it steady for a minute. [ And then, just to test the waters, he smiled softly. ] We really need to stop meeting like this, you know.

This part, however, was utterly disregarded as reality set in, the list of things he still needed to do began their cacophony in the back of his mind. The powerful and massively influential Seto Kaiba tripped up on the street. They wouldn't dare put it into gossip magazines, would they? To be honest it was most likely the most mundane thing that the paparazzi would ever be able to pick him up on. And ridiculous. He had better balance than that.]
[Slowly he opened his eyes. Aware of the dry sting and now added pressure around his sinuses he winced. Wishing that perhaps he had given it a little longer. Nothing he couldn't sort out back at the office, but he could only dread how annoying the inevitable fuss would be.]
I'm fine- [He tried to sound sure of it. But as he did sit up his head throbbed once again. Instinctually he put his hand up to swipe away any contact. The swift motion almost sending him off balance again.] You?
[He grunted in displeasure and clutched at his head to feel for the damage. How he wished he wasn't going to need stitches.]
no subject
No, you aren't. You hit the pavement pretty hard there, and foreheads don't take impact too well...
[ Kaiba please don't fight him on this.
You're obviously going to but.
Please. ]
This is what's going to happen here, okay? I'm either going to call an ambulance and this scene is going to become even more of one, or you're going to let me help you. It's your choice.
no subject
When people give ultimatums with only two options it usually means they're withholding other choices. [He winced again, getting angry only seemed to make his head throb more.]
I didn't ask for your help. I can handle this.
[He hated being mollycoddled. It was a moment of weakness on his part and he wouldn't allow someone else to pick up after him.
He gave a low growl as he pushed himself up onto his feet. His head running with small calculations to try and counteract the dizziness. It would in theory work, but getting the rest of his limbs to behave was another matter. Still, at least he felt a little more awake now.]

You're right, there is a third option - you try and stagger home and end up vomiting and disorientated later. I figured the first two might be more suited to you.
[ He stood up as Kaiba did, fully prepared to catch him if he stumbled. That'd probably earn him a letter-opener to the kidney, but hey. ]
Will you at least let me get you some ice for that? [ He gestured to his own forehead where Kaiba's injury was. ] I've had my share of beatings, I know how bad that'll look in a few hours if you leave it be.

There is a fourth one.
[Slowly he reaches into his jacket and pulls out his phone. Despite landing on it it's still in perfect condition. At least it proved that it was drop proof. The top three contacts - Mokuba, the office and Isono. He couldn't deal with Mokuba fussing, so he opted with his ever faithful bodyguard.]
If it makes you happy. [He held the phone to his head, wincing at the volume of the ringing. If it got rid of Gabe then that was all he needed.]
no subject
Gabriel will just stand here and expertly keep the satisfaction from his face. You'd better believe he'll say there until whoever Kaiba's calling shows up. ]

Kaiba didn't keep to English and switched over so that he could be as honest about the situation as he perhaps wouldn't be with Gabe. Whilst this was a case of a good deed returned, it didn't stop Kaiba from bristling. He had an image to maintain.
Isono had seen him through his worst since he was a young teen, so the pretence of an image was unnecessary. He told him how nauseous he felt, how he hadn't gotten enough sleep and was suffering for pushing himself.
His bodyguard was understanding however, giving him the express orders to sit down, get some water and he'd be with the CEO asap.]
...Would you mind getting me some water?
[Kaiba asked quietly, already feeling himself relax somewhat.]

If you promise you won't try and run off when I do. Staggering into traffic isn't a good look for anyone.
[ This is all said in gentle, obvious jest. There was a cafe literally across the street, which he soon returned from with a cup of water as requested. ]
Drink it slowly - it's pretty cold.

[He watched the man disappear. Now that Isono was on his way there wasn't any means to quietly slip away from Gabe. Though given his situation, as frustrating as it was, he was thankful that Gabe was around when he was.
As tempting as it was to chug the water he didn't want to add brain freeze on top of a potential concussion. It was enough to make him feel more alert though, though that didn't quite chase off the haze of tiredness.]
This is a lot of trouble for someone who is practically a stranger. Do you make it a habit to go out of your way for random people?
no subject
[ Said without a hint of sarcasm, just with soft sincerity. The world had been cruel enough to him - there was no point in his adding to how crap it could be by ignoring people who needed help. ]
I figure it's not always less effort to help other people, but it's always worth it. Besides, you brought me coffee. We're practically best friends in my book.
[ Now that's said with a playful smirk. ]
no subject
That's an awfully low bar you've set yourself there. Be careful that people don't take advantage of that kind streak.
[Another sip, another wince. But it was stopping his stomach from feeling like it was about to empty its contents everywhere.]
Although, this does mean I owe you now.
no subject
If they do, it says more about them - but there'll always be people that do that. There's not point in reining it in just to try and avoid them.
[ Taking a seat on the pavement next to him, Gabriel shook his head. ]
Don't be daft; you brought me breakfast. I'd call it even.
no subject
The most damaging are the sort that worm their way into your life and then treat you poorly when you're not in a position to leave.
I think this falls a little higher on the dedication scale.
no subject
Yeah..I can imagine. [ His smile picked up then. ] Then I guess I'm glad it's not a competition then. Hopefully this'll maybe teach you to take better care of yourself in future..? I won't always be on hand to bully you into sitting down and calling someone for help.
no subject
I'll gladly compete in most games, but oppression olympics isn't my thing. I'll have to decline that one.
Let's not get too ahead of ourselves. [He takes another sip of water and winces as the cold makes his head throb.] Though I do respond poorly to negative reinforcement.
