Blind Date meme

The Blind Date meme. Pretty self-explanatory. No matter how awkward and unexpected they might be, there is always something exciting about them. Who is your company for the evening going to be? Will it be a person of your innermost dreams or someone you absolutely can't stand? And most importantly...

[ She remains unconvinced that there wasn't some charmspeak involved in getting her here, but no point in questioning it now.

Piper shows up to the appointed meeting place, a fountain in a public park, and looks around for signs of her date. Her half-siblings hadn't given her much to go on... "good looking" was too subjective no matter how they insisted she'd "know him when [she saw] him", but they'd at least had the foresight to give them specific colors to wear. So here she is in cut off jean shorts, sneakers, and a dark red tank top, and a red and black flannel jacket with the sleeves rolled up. The feathers hanging from the ends of her mini-braids today are white and brown.

Hope you don't mind your date going casual, Kise.

As it is she's probably a few minutes early at least, so she tucks her hands into her jacket pockets and waits for this guy to show up. Honestly she just hopes that her half-siblings had taken her tastes into account... ]

[Kise isn't used to dates. At all. But he'd somehow gotten talked into this one, and he's not one to refuse a friend when they take the time to actually ask him something.

So he makes his way to the meeting place, only given a vague description of his partner: stunning! beautiful! gorgeous dark hair!

As if there weren't tons of people in the world who could fit that description.

Well, if he doesn't find her, maybe he can just call it an early night.

Luckily, however, the park isn't too crowded, and the others milling about are way too young for him to be on a date with. He approaches her with a winning smile.]

Hello- would you happen to be waiting for me?

[ Agreeing to a blind date isn't that big of a deal to Takao. He enjoys being around people and he's outgoing and friendly enough that he can get along with just about anyone. If anything, there's at least potential for a new friend at the end if nothing else comes from it.

All of that is fine. Not knowing who he'll end up with is part of the fun.

What's not fun is the fact that he's asked to do this by Midorima, of all people. That is reason enough to worry. Because while Midorima's not behind it - he makes it clear that it's a favor for Momoi - he seems fine with requesting that Takao take part. And coming from a guy who doesn't even seem to know what a date is, it's a little worrying.

In the end, Takao agrees to go. It's half for Midorima's sake, because his teammate took the time to ask him in the first place, and half sheer curiosity over who he'll end up with. His first assumption is that it must be someone from Touou, but after some time musing over their basketball team members, he finds himself hoping it's someone he's never seen before.

He's still hoping when he shows up at the gates of the amusement park he's sent to. After being left with the promise that his date will have the tickets to get inside, he settles in for watching people as they approach, expecting to spot someone also on the lookout for a stranger. ]

[Kise isn't really into dates. At all. At all. He'd been just on the cusp of refusing Momoi this strange little situation, but she'd just been so insistent and how she's so worried for him and how she promises she'd like the person!

She'd been very particular about how he dressed: a yellow scarf, a white cardigan, emphasizing how it was important that he bright and noticeable. She then shoved an envelope in his hand and marched him off to the amusement park.

He just hopes it isn't some weird fangirl of his who bribed Momoi somehow to get him to take her out.

She was also clear on who to look out for: black hair and wearing orange. And luckily, there's only one person who fits that description. He prepares his best model smile and best polite personality-- until he realizes who it is. Suddenly, this date doesn't seem so bad anymore.

He rushes up with a bounce, waving his arms.] Takaocchi!!!

[ For the most part, Takao sticks to keeping an eye out for a girl, figuring maybe he's going to be out with one of Momoi's classmates. As much as he considers connections, his thoughts don't actually wander to any of Midorima's former teammates.

That's probably why, despite seeing the flash of blond hair in scanning the crowd, Takao's surprised to hear a familiar voice calling his name. He's even more surprised when Kise bounds up to him and he actually takes note of the yellow scarf - the identifying article of clothing he's been told to look for. ]

Kise-kun? It's you? [ It takes a second for the look of surprise to shift to a wide, happy grin, the tiny bit of nervousness over Midorima's involvement lost with the reveal.

It leaves one question, though. ] Wait. Why do you need to be set up on something like this?

It's me! [Kise is so relieved he could absolutely die. He doesn't know Takao very well, but he supposes that's about to change. A ~blind date~ with a fellow basketball player is worlds better than one with a random fan.]

Ah-- Momocchi said she was concerned about me? Because I never go on dates. [SHRUG. How does one say "I'm glad my fans support me, but it'd be nice if they liked me for more than just my face" without it getting awkward? Kise can't think of anything, so he brushes it off.] But whatever, come on, let's go!

[Leading them to the ticket gate, Kise grabs Takao's hand and pulls out his envelope - which he assumes has the tickets to this place.] Do you like rides, Takaocchi?

[ They might not know each other that well, but being familiar with each other is enough to leave Takao at ease. Considering the interests they already share and the friends they have in common, he knows they won't end up searching for topics of conversation.

The reasoning behind their being set up - or behind Kise's end of it, anyway - earns a soft snort from Takao. ] I wonder if this means she'll try to set Shin-chan up with somebody next. If that happens, we've gotta spy on it. [ Maybe he'll get Momoi's number and drop a suggestion or two after this.

He leaves the idea aside for the time being as his hand is taken and they head for the gate, the move alone enough to draw whispers from a few girls who have recognized Kise but haven't tried to approach him yet. Amused, Takao curls his fingers around Kise's hand as he nods. ] Yeah, I do! You're not afraid of heights or anything, are you?

[The idea of Midorima with anyone is actually kind of hilarious.] I wonder if anyone besides you can actually stand to be around Midorimacchi for that long... we should definitely spy! What if he ends up with a girl? It'll be too hilarious...

[Kise is ignoring his fangirls - he doesn't want to be rude to his date!!! - and pulling them toward the first big roller coaster.] I don't mind heights- after all, I'm all the way up here, aren't I? [He'll still scream on the ride, though. And cling from fear.]

If there's anybody else that likes being around him that long, I think we've gotta make Shin-chan marry them. It's too rare, we can't chance losing it! [ The suggestion is made with a loud laugh as he walks along with Kise, not bothered by the hand still linked with his own or the small group that's likely going to follow them for their entire visit. ]

Uh huh. We'll see when your feet aren't on the ground anymore. [ Takao's amused already as they get in the fairly short line for the roller coaster. ] Are there any rides you don't wanna go on here?

Ehhh, Takaocchi, are you saying if there's no one else like that, you'll have to marry Midorimacchi instead? What an awful think to say to your date! [He laughs. It's so, so great being around someone who teases and jokes around in return. Unlike the rest of his Teiko and Kaijo teammates! All sticks in the mud!!]

If I have such a big, strong guy around, I think I can handle anything! [A gentle shoulder bump to emphasize their height differences. Kise's not as tall as Midorima, but he's still not short by any means.]

[ Kise's comment makes Takao let out a playful, amused-sounding gasp as he tightens his grip on Kise's hand for a second. ] If that's the case, you've gotta help save me, Kise-kun! We'll have to run away together so I don't end up in that kind of marriage.

[ His staged concern for his own future is broken by the laugh that comes with the bump to his shoulder. ] Hey, hey. My height is a nice balance. It's right between all you tall guys and people like Kuroko-kun. [ And Akashi, but he refrains from mentioning that height difference. ]

Ah-- you're right!! I don't want you to suffer in a sea of lucky items... [He returns the grip, determined!!] After this, I'll take you away from here, Takaocchi, don't worry! You don't have to think about oha-asa ever again!!

[Kise laughs.] You're like- the messenger from us tall people to Kurokocchi!!! Ah- even on the court, too... it's amazing.

I knew I could count on you! [ The exclamation is followed by a laugh as they move forward in line, now close enough to see the cars of the roller coaster they're currently filling. They may not make the one in front of them, but they're surely be on the one that follows. ]

I get the feeling Kuroko-kun wouldn't like hearing that. It makes it sound like you guys can't talk to him yourselves!

Well, I definitely can't see Kurokocchi all the time by myself... [Even though he tries so hard...and loves Kurokocchi so much... the pain.]

That reminds me- I really wanna play against you on the court sometime. It'd be pretty fun, hmm? I've always wanted to see how the hawk eye works for myself. [~innocent smile~]

You don't have to see him to talk to him, Kise-kun. That's what we've all got phones for. [ It's teasing, though, said with a grin aimed at Kise. ]

Trying to borrow my moves? [ He nudges Kise as they move forward again, a train of cars currently emptying to allow them on next. ] You can't have that one! It's built in and you're not getting in my head.

[Kise climbs in and buckles down, nearly bouncing with how excited he is for this ride. He slides down a little in his seat, though, so he isn't as stupidly tall.]

Kurokocchi never texts me back! And he hangs up on me when I try to call him! Even though I know he cares about me- he has to act this way. It hurts!

[But his sad face quickly turns to a grin.]

I just wanna see~ No harm in trying, hmm?

Sometimes being rich is such a burden. For example, the completely unironic arranged marriage Wakana's father has set up for her with... some high school kid? Is this really happening to her?

She's been putting it off and putting it off, but after the stunt Saeko and her creepy new doctor boyfriend pulled the other day Wakana can't get out of this any longer. She has to be the good little heiress to the Sonozaki fortune, and that means going on a date with Ryouta Kise.

And that means putting on a fake smile. At least she doesn't have to completely go along with it, though. Instead of waiting at home for her fiancee (ugh) to pick her up, Wakana stands outside the fancy restaurant they have a reservation at. She'll do whatever she can to undermine this stupid, stupid tradition.

Sometimes being semi-famous is such a burden. He's not rich, but he's quickly gaining popularity, and his manager thinks it'd be a great opportunity to have him seen with one of the most famous radio personalities on air.

Well, at least she's not just some nameless fan, so he'll put up with it for now, break it off somehow later. Amicably. And they can go their own separate ways.

He puts on his best smile when he approaches the restaurant, holding out his arm for her to take. He may be younger, but he's still significantly taller than she is. "Miss Sonozaki?"
