minor injury meme.

You or your meme partner has been hurt, but don't worry! This time around it's not that bad. You can still limp your way out of this mess.
INJURIES.
1. Sprain/strain. How did you screw up walking?
2. Broken bones. Simple fractures still hurt.
3. Cuts. Hopefully one of you has a sewing kit.
4. Burns. Location, location, location. Let's pray this one isn't on your ass.
5. Concussion. No, they're most likely not holding up fifteen fingers.
6. Other. I'm not a doctor.
HOW'D IT HAPPEN.
1. Stupidity. You did this to yourself.
2. Accident. Is an unintentional attack still an attack?
3. Attack. Don't lie, you deserved it.
4. Other. It's probably still your own fault.
WHERE'D IT HAPPEN.
1. Home. Did you remember to invest in a first aid kit?
2. School/Work. This should be excellent for getting you out of doing stuff!
3. Outdoors. Predators like the smell of blood. Clean up asap.
4. In the water. Hopefully there aren't any sharks!
5. Other. Like a hospital. That'd be handy.
5-3-2!
As it is, this job was meant to be an easy one -- get in, steal some schematics from some shady dudes, and get out without being detected, with a smug smile and a warm, fuzzy feeling for having done their daily good deed. A two-man job, at most. And since it was meant to be so easy, and since it had been so long since the two of them had seen each other (busy with jobs and assignments and missions, as they are), this was the closest thing to a date that Kasumi and Peter have had since their confessions in a rain-drenched ruin.
Which is kind of sad, but what can they do?
Well, for starters, they could get taken by surprise when they realized they had landed on the same day as a super duper top-secret weapons shipment. The two of them managed to clear out the goons once their cover was blown (and it totally wasn’t Peter’s fault. For real. For real), but there was no Drax to take care of the big dude with a penchant for big, powerful concussive blasts. So when the cheese stood alone, he had aimed a blast at Peter and Kasumi as they crouched together behind cover. The blow had sent them both sprawling, while a second blast (and what the fuck where was this guy’s cooldown?!) sent them both flying into a wall.
Peter recovered first, thanks to his helmet absorbing the hit, and electricity arced through the air as he unloaded on the guy. It isn’t until the dude falls to the ground, twitching and writhing (and very much dead) that Peter withdraws his mask and drops to Kasumi’s side.
Also? Wow, he’s totally not panicking, why would you think that? ]
Goto, hey, c’mon, eyes on me.

But being on the receiving end? As it turns out--not fun at all.
She might remember ducking behind cover with Peter in a hurry, how a desk wasn't quite enough to protect them against the blast, and she might remember not having enough time to think anything but, Now that's just unfair, as the big guy lets loose another blast. Then she might remember her head crashing into a wall.
But she doesn't actually, because as she comes to, her thoughts are all in a mush and she can barely even formulate words, but at least she recognizes the person next to her as her favorite partner, so she can at least manage this: ]
... Hey.
no subject
I know you like lettin' me do all the work, but no sleepin' on the job, babe. [ And his words are clipped and quick, definitely worried, because he can tell, at least, that she probably has a concussion, but he can't remember -- are you allowed to sleep or not with one? He thinks he remembers TV shows from his childhood where they would desperately shout, "Stay awake!" after someone suffered a blow to the head, but he seriously doubts most of those scriptwriters had medical degrees. ]
You remember what happened?
no subject
Whatever it was... it must have sucked? Ow, ow.
[ Which is to say, what the hell happened? She's slowly starting to recollect her thoughts, though, not that she can really put any words to them at the moment. She probably couldn't even spell her name if Peter asked. ]

[ He pulls off his jacket, crumpling it into a ball for her to use as a makeshift pillow; he helps ease her onto it. Not the best material for a pillow, to be sure, but it'll have to do. ]
You banged your head pretty good there, it looks like. Just try to relax, alright? No thinking deep, existential thoughts right now.
no subject
What about the--job? Oh god, we're on a job. Where are we? Did we get it done?
[ Talk about being a workaholic. ]
no subject
Easy, tiger, we're good.
[ Well, mostly. They're surrounded by bodies in various degrees of dead, some bleeding out from Kasumi's bullets or sizzling from shots of Peter's blaster. It's pretty romantic, as far as first dates settings go. ]
We should start charging by the corpse.
no subject
I do remember us making one hell of a team, though, Star-Lord.
no subject
Damn straight we do.
[ What the hell are you supposed to do for a concussion, anyway? Probably ice the spot where she hit her head or something, but it's not like they've got ice packs-- maybe they've got something at the shuttle? ]
You stay put, okay? I'm gonna go download the data, and we're getting out of here.
no subject
[ "Download" and "data" are pretty much some of Kasumi's favorite words (especially if all used in the same sentence as, "covertly" and "classified," so she moves like she's about to sit up again, but the continuing swirling around in her head tells her nope, you're just gonna stay put and enjoy your concussion. ]
... Alright.
no subject
Don't worry, I won't fuck it up.
[ Probably.
Anyway, he stands and moves over to one of the consoles, keeping an eye on her the entire time (because he kind of bets she'd try to go all stealthy ninja and get the data from another console if he so much as blinks). The encryption is child's play, and even Peter can get through it (who seriously uses 1234 as a password still, in this day and age?). He grabs the schematics -- and as an afterthought, copies anything else that looks useful -- before going back to Kasumi. ]
All good. [ Now, the tricky part -- getting back to the shuttle, when she seems in no condition to be doing much of anything. ] Hey, you like piggyback rides, right?
no subject
And when he returns, asking about piggyback rides, Kasumi definitely tries to get herself back up on her own two feet. ]
It's fine, I'm--
[ totally failing at this, at which point she just thinks I am never going to laugh at someone getting a concussive blast ever again, and barely manages to put a forward to catch herself and keep from falling right into Peter. ]
--I'm good.
no subject
No, you're seriously not.
[ Worried is fast becoming an understatement, at this rate. He grabs his jacket up off the ground, slipping it on quickly (and, yes, he totally alternates hands so that he can keep a hold on Kasumi in case she topples over again.
He regards her for a silent moment before he finally just-- sweeps an arm under her knees with his other around her back and lifts her up. It's a familiar position, he knows, only there are less catamanders and less explosions and almost no need for jet-boots. Then he starts heading to the shuttle. NO BIG DEAL.]
no subject
Thanks, Peter. Sorry.
no subject
Hey, nothing to be sorry about. Shit like this happens all the time. Just take it easy, okay?
no subject
So this is our first date, huh? I think I might need a redo.
no subject
Next time, I promise there'll be dinner and dancing and awkward attempts at tryin' to sneak in a kiss.
[ A beat, then, ] I won't lie. I haven't been on many dates. That's what you do, right?
[ Because Peter doesn't actually date, and the idea of dating? Pretty weird. Usually he just-- swoops into a bar or a club or a diner or whatever, chats up the first attractive person he sees and buys them a few drinks, and then in the morning it's a wave goodbye and a, "Don't call me, I'll call you."
He's never done steady. He's never done relationships. This is brand new territory, and he'd never admit it, but it's making him nervous. ]
no subject
[ She smiles and reaches up to his cheek with her free hand. ]
--you don't have to sneak in a kiss, Quill. Dinner and dancing is nice once in a while, maybe, but honestly? Doing this kind of thing is much more exciting. Except maybe the part where I get a concussion. Just--don't worry so much, and be you, remember?
no subject
So, stick with shooting things, but maybe next time I make you wear a helmet?
no subject
[ That gets him an equally teasing pull on the cheek. ]
no subject
Ow, quit it.
no subject
[ All this, accompanied by a really? look on her face. ]
no subject
You are so lucky my hands are full, otherwise I'd give you a taste of your own medicine.
no subject
[ She knows that's not entirely true, but she's smiling anyway. ]
no subject
You and I remember that night very differently, but I bet you’re trying to make a point. I can feel it.
