[ Every muscle in her body hurt, screamed as a convincing protest to stop moving so damn much as just lie down, but she couldn't. She had to keep going, because there was really not much else she could do. She had people here, people she was responsible for bringing in, people she was responsible for loosing, too.

Grim, those pilots and now Roth - oh God, Roth - and the ones that were still alive? It was on her, all of it. To get them out, to figure out a way. Half of the damn battle was trying to convince them that this island wasn't going to let them leave without it sounding like she was crazy. Jonah was close to believing her; Reyes was just angry and Sam wanted for this to be over. Alex too. Joel? She didn't know what he was thinking about all this half the time.

She knew what she saw, in that storm; and she was beginning to suspect the men stranded here were seeing the same thing.

The island is filled with unset rocks, with old rotten wood and ruins and metal grates barely hanging on and old debris and it isn't a wonder that this fall had taken such a heavy toll. She was to meet the others on that beach; was supposed to keep moving and catch up and try and make another bloody plan but instead she nearly blindly ran into the hunters as soon as she was getting close to the spot.

It was instinct that drove her to dive for cover just as they drew their guns, and she had to reach for hers.

The fight wasn't a long one, but through it, she has to jump to a roof and it's then that the grains of the old wood give from her weight. She lands with a yelp, instinctively rolls even as her ankle gives a pitiful whine of protest and she fires off two more shots to the remaining man above.

She's bleeding, a breath heaved as she takes in the damage done; a bullet had grazed her arm, a long gash of flesh torn through by the damn thing; hurt just about as much as it looked like it would, with adrenaline finally leaving her system. Her side stung too, where she'd burned her wound shut, a pulsing sort of pain starkly noticeable when she could actually focus on it, and her ankle felt dislocated; she'd had enough of those as a kid to recognize it straight away.

There's steps in the distance, she hears them, maybe even hears something like a huff. Of course it was her luck for someone to have heard. She changes the magazine in Roth's handgun, and holds it ready. ]

[ Small cases like this never garnered the attention of the DSO or BSAA, thankfully enough. At least Jessica could do solo reconnaissance without the presence of any bigwig organization breathing down her neck. She was still a wanted person, but incidents that took place outside of the city was never a problem. All she had to worry about was dodging detectives or local police to lift whatever information the organization wanted.

So far she was able to glean a number of things: shady numbers in their budget, buried reports of malpractice, and treatments or procedures that would begin spill into outright experimentation. The usual. The hospital itself was large enough to be broken into five separate wings, usually places like this held more than just rust and squatters.

What she hadn't expected was the loud crash that carried itself down the halls, and a wounded detective in tow. Although ammo was never scarce when she came prepared, there was no real reason to arrive armed to the teeth. Figuring her G18 to be good enough, she makes quick work of whoever was chasing the poor detective before ushering them both into a nearby room, locking it for good measure. After giving Sebastian a flimsy cover of being some small-time reporter looking for a big case, she's quick to asses the cut on his arm after throwing open the musty curtains from the window to let in some light. Not that the moonlight could offer much, but it's all she could manage with no electricity and two pocket flashlights. ]

We might've ended up in the right place during the wrong time, but how do you feel about using any of this? [ Stepping aside from the steel medicine cabinet to show him what she means. ] We'd better think fast if you're set for a little patch-up job.

[Okay. So he'd probably had this coming. That didn't make the shooting pain from his ankle any more bearable as Loki lay in a sprawled heap in the bushes beneath his window. It was getting on to sunrise, and he'd been trying to slip quiet and unnoticed back into his room before he was missing.

Unfortunately, he hadn't thought that anyone else might be out at this time of night, or morning, as the case may be. So when he'd heard someone creeping up on him, that had been bad enough. When they'd called him by name, that had startled him enough that he'd lost his grip on the windowsill and gone crashing back into the bushes - thankfully only a fall from the second floor, which was perfectly survivable for a half-giant with him.

Not without a sprained ankle, however.
