[The Rules]

[Molly is first to the party and she is annoyed with herself for getting there too early. She goes to get herself a drink to try to look less awkward and hopes someone else shows up soon.]

"Anyone here you know?" Egan rests an elbow against the bar and orders a whiskey.

"Oh..hello," she says brightly after swallowing her sip of gin and tonic. "No. Except now you.

Do you? Know anyone, that is."

Rays extending from the corners of his eyes, he might smile, but hasn't made up his mind. "I know many people, Miss Hooper, whether or not I have actually been introduced."

Egan was a people watcher, when he wasn't being told long extended life stories.

"Well, that sounds a little ominous," she says with a slight laugh. "I hope you didn't know me before being introduced."

"You do not recall the first time we met then. I picked up my sister's body from the hospital's morgue."

Not his sister, but he was not going to tell anyone that. The scar he gave Irene when they were just children was missing. A sign that she was safe and in hiding. The body was cremated and he went though the motions of grief to cover her trail.

Nervous. Was very nervous. The only reason she came was because this party is being held in a room of the museum that has been opened for a preview of newly arrived paintings. Sherring's nose is approximately four inches away from Rembrandt's Night Watch as she memorizes the piece.

Dressed in a man's white collared shirt, dark slacks, black leather dress boots with a low heel that does nothing to help her height disadvantage (5'3"), Sherring did not stop at the coat check either and still wearing her long black wool that blended well into the London streets, but not in a room of party goers.

Because she's distracted, she might answer one question or two before recognizing who you are.

Mycroft steps up, and smiles politely at the woman and the young haunted looking man and states simply, "You know, there's a man at this party, who has met the Queen, and her corgis. You really must meet him."

Pointed in a random direction, or at least Aodhagan assumes it's random, the woman who is rounder than she is tall, sweeps waddles off armed with a description of a short blond man.

"The depths of my gratitude cannot be fully expressed. Thank you, Mister...?" extending his hand in greeting.

Mycroft sipped the wine in his hand, smirking after the woman, before turning back to the young man before him. "Oh, gracious, nothing that extensive, I am sure."

He took his hand, and shook it once. "Holmes. Mycroft. A pleasure."

"Trust me, after hearing about the multiple delusions of a chihuahua and its disorganized thinking, a lack of emotion and a lack of motivation... and now you just have. I apologize." Eye to eye, his handshake firm, "Aodhagán [pronounced EH-gahn] Adler."

Molly Hooper's Twin Brother / Dr. M.M. Hooper

[Her phone starts making a noise like it's ringing but when she takes it out of her bag she realizes it's actually Jim's voice like from the telly. She looks deeply disturbed and tries to make it stop all while looking around in worry that he might pop out from somewhere.]

[Mycroft can be seen smoothly talking to more than one group of people at a time. This is a party, he can do chit-chat with the best of them. It is, after all, part of his job.]

[Molly sees the elder Holmes making the rounds at the party, but tries to avoid catching his eye. He's quite intimidating to her and one Holmes making her feel like shoe gum is enough. She does find him interesting to watch though. His social graces are so much more developed in some ways than Sherlock's, or he just cares enough to put them on.]

[He steps back away from one group, an empty glass in hand, and then catches sight of her. For a moment, he is non-plussed. She looks considerably different here, then when he has seen her before. He lifts his empty glass in silent greeting, before he started towards the bar. Usually acknowledging his brother's friends were enough to send them scattering, and he did not wish to ruin her evening. Especially since this seemed to be a special occasion.]

[She nods her head and smiles slightly at him as she lifts her own half-full glass. As intimidating as she finds Mycroft, she does like him. He has always treated her pretty well, even if it's just for show. Or maybe he knows Sherlock has a knack for treating her poorly and he feels bad for her.

And since they were the only two who knew the truth about Sherlock's "death" those two years, she did feel a bit of a kinship with him.]

[It is all of these, and a little more. The Holmes brothers rarely encounter truly kind people - they are far too busy finding the mean flaws and dirty little secrets. Good people are a rarity, something to tilt one's head at in confusion.

Molly was one of those people, and Mycroft treated her more carefully because of it.

Beyond that, Sherlock trusted her. Implicitly. With his life, with Mycroft's secrets and honor, so ...

He refreshed the drink, watching her curiously from the bar. This wasn't Molly's typical 'scene'. Was she with some young man? Woman?]
