[The Rules]

1. Find the thread for the canons/fandoms of your character. If you don't see one, make one!

2. Post with all of your character accounts. Yes, all of them. Throwing in your entire musebox is totally fine in this meme. (Please write down the name and canon/fandom of the character in the subject line, and also if they're canon, AU, crossover or OC, etc.)

"Well, that sounds a little ominous," she says with a slight laugh. "I hope you didn't know me before being introduced."

"You do not recall the first time we met then. I picked up my sister's body from the hospital's morgue."

Not his sister, but he was not going to tell anyone that. The scar he gave Irene when they were just children was missing. A sign that she was safe and in hiding. The body was cremated and he went though the motions of grief to cover her trail.

"Oh gosh," she says, looking dismayed. "I'm so very sorry. I'm afraid I don't.

"And incredibly sorry to hear about your sister."

She's at a loss. It's true people are in and out of the morgue quite often, but she's surprised she wouldn't remember him. He's quite attractive after all. It must have been a busy day or she was preoccupied in some other way.

His shoulder rises and falls gracefully, easily letting it go. "There is little to remember. I arranged for Irene's cremation and signed the appropriate documents. End of story. Not memorable in the least."

But that didn't mean he wasn't watching Molly press her lips together, as he looked at down the faceless corpse.

"Irene..." she says as her brain tries to remember and then she puts the pieces together with his last name - not exactly unique, but when put with a first name like Irene, it stood out more. Then she flushes slightly at the memory of "not her face." Then she feels guilty about giving this man's poor sister a label like that.

"Oh. I...yes...I do remember her. And I remember you coming in now. It was just awful. I'm so sorry."

No one should have to see their loved one like that.

"Id est quod est. [Latin: It is what it is.]" Sipping the burning liquid, " No one's fault but her own and a brother who failed to keep an eye on her. Our mother performed some kind of Wiccan dance or ritual for her and did a research piece on the dangers of London. No one heard it over here."

He smiles, but it's a forced thing, "So yes, we met before we were introduced and I saw you capably discharging your duties." And that you have a difficult time seeing through lies.

Molly was one of those odd kids who took Latin in high school, so she understands the saying and nods, but still feels bad for him.

"I...I'm sure she was a special woman," she says, especially if she had caught the attention of Sherlock Holmes. "But I don't think you should blame yourself for what happened to her."

From what she understood, Irene Adler had an interesting circle of friends and potential enemies and that she liked to play games with powerful people.

"Special just like every other zebra in the herd. And now I sound callous, I apologize. As we counselors tell our patients, each person reacts to death differently. I would guess that you see it yourself, given your profession - the reactions of friends and family members."

Shaking his head, "And how did we get on such a gruesome subject? No, do not answer that, it is fuel for the fire." Aodhagán deliberately changed the subject, "Do you dance Miss Hooper? A waltz perhaps?"

She opens her mouth and then closes it, not sure what to say to any of it. And then she's further surprised when he changes the subject entirely before she has any time to react.

"Oh...uh...I suppose," she says, still trying to catch up. "Probably not very well though."

She took some dance lessons in uni, but it has been a while since she's had the occasion to get any practice.

"Riddle me this, why is that?" Eyebrow rising, "Our children are taught manners, which fork to use for salad, to be genuinely nice, but not to dance a waltz?" He was smiling though to take the edge off. "We should rectify that, as soon as one of us is King, or Queen, if you prefer."

"I...well...I learned," she says. "It doesn't mean I'm any good."

She smirks a little.

"I suppose you are."

"I teach ballroom dancing, so I have to be," he's not smirking, but he might as well be with that almost 'so there' tone of voice. "You must have had the wrong teacher, or the wrong incentive."

She raises her eyebrows.

"You teach ballroom dancing? Honestly?" she asks. A ballroom dance teaching psychiatrist. Obviously.

"I had to put myself through school somehow." And it gave Irene something to do on the nights she didn't have clients...or as she put it, 'making clients for the future'.

Grinning, "Finish your wine and you'll relearn half a waltz before the hour is out, or double your money back."

"You never heard of working at a chip shop or Marks and Spencer?" she asks with a smirk. The latter seems more his speed she thinks.

"But okay, I'll let you re-teach me the waltz. It's your toes."

"Harrods. I received a sizable discount on clothing after modeling the seasonal wear. Thankfully I was at my full growth, else you would be seeing my casual attire."

"Of course you were a model at Harrods," she says, rolling her eyes a bit but in a playful way. He was gorgeous. She keeps wondering why he's still talking to her and not a fellow model-type. There are enough around here.

His cheek quirks into a grin. And perhaps it's because he's spent time with models that makes him prefer the company of intelligent people. Beautiful people can be very shallow, if they don't have anything else to sustain them, no other reason for living. No wonder he doesn't still do it.

"Like I said. A waiter, a model, a dance instructor, jack of many trades, master of few."

"That seems far more interesting than being master of one thing," she says. Which is basically what she is. And even worse, her mastery isn't usually something to speak about in polite company.

"Or a sign of a disorganized mind, someone who cannot concentrate or does not stay interested for long, he says stupidly, putting doubts in her mind," teasing the smile is still in place. "Or someone who is flexible enough and open minded enough to attempt many different activities until he finds a few things he can do, just to keep himself housed, fed, and in school."

"And which am I supposed to assume you are?" she asks with a smile, eyebrow raising a bit.

"The nutter, of course. Family honour and tradition to uphold and all that. That and those in the know say that people only go into psychiatry because they want to examine their own problems."

Seriously going to laugh.

She does laugh.

"Well, at least you're honest, I suppose," she says, not entirely taking him seriously. "I can't imagine what people say about those who go into pathology.

"Probably best I don't know."

[aodhagan]

"Ahh, it's just another way of getting inside someone and figuring out how they tick," savoring the smoky liquid. "I wouldn't worry about it, especially as your patients don't complain that you aren't helping them."

"Their family members complain enough for them," she says and then realizes he was one of those family members once. Not that he'd complained or caused problems that she could remember. She probably would have remembered meeting him sooner if he had. "Sorry, I didn't mean...you weren't..."
