THE CHILDHOOD MEME

Childhood. That magical time between infancy and adulthood where you feel invincible. Where you haven't a care or responsibility in the world. It's a time where imagination runs wild and every day is a new adventure waiting to be had.

While there's plenty of fun out there in the world of adults, there's nothing that quite compares to the innocence of those early years. So, grab your juice box, your favorite toy and remember to be back before the streetlights come on.

HOW TO PLAY:

○ This meme is targeted toward the younger end of the age spectrum (15 and under), but that doesn't mean older characters aren't welcome. Does your character have a soft spot for children? Are they typically the type to be the babysitter? Or maybe they're the older sibling being dragged along to keep an eye on the younger one? Aging down is also an acceptable option, haven't we all wondered what our characters would have been like as kids?

1. PLAYGROUND/PARK : The spot where all the best childhood memories are made. Are you playing a game of tag? Are you hanging upside down on the jungle gym? Are you getting into trouble while your mom is catching up on the latest gossip?

2. SCHOOL : The place where 75% of your day is spent and lifelong friendships are forged. Maybe you're in art class, maybe you're at recess, or maybe you're on a school field trip. The possibilities are endless. Just don't be that kid eating paste.

3. MALL : For the kids on the older end of the spectrum. Whether you're at the arcade, whether you're meeting with friends, or whether your parents gave you twenty bucks to get out of their hair, you've got the entire shopping mall at your disposal.

4. CIRCUS : It's the greatest show on earth! Lion tamers! Acrobats! Elephants! Feats meant to stun and amaze you! Cotton candy the size of your head! Are you watching the show from the stands? Or is your family a part of the show?

5. THEME PARK/AMUSEMENT PARK : It's a classic vacation that's fun for the whole family. Are you the roller coaster type? Or are you the type to shy away from the thrill rides and stick to the carousel instead? Keep a hold of someone's hand, though, the only thing that can ruin a day is a lost child in the park.

6. FAIR/FESTIVAL/CARNIVAL : The theme park on a smaller scale. Sometimes the rides are a little shaky, but there's plenty of good deep fried foods and games to be played. Go out and win yourself a goldfish!

7. NEVERLAND : Yes, you read that right. Just like in Peter Pan, it's the magical place where no one has to ever grow up and adults aren't welcome. What kind of adventures will you get into? Remember, it only takes a little bit of fairy dust and good thoughts to fly.

[First! year! SUGA!!!]

Tak...tak. [ Little Swede, wearing a very short smock made for very small children even though he looks about ten, is trying to talk to him in Swedish. He is not very verbal at this age yet b-but he loffs to make friends with the smaller childrens. His Mama is looking for him. ]

[Maitimo does not know what it means, but the other boy seems nice so it must be a a good thing to say to someone. And he's just happy to have made a new friend, really, his parents are always traveling so he's not had all that many of them.] I'm Maitimo! [He says with a big grin as he latches on to the Swede's hand.] What's your name? [For such a small child he's unusualy good at speaking.]

[ Swede can barely speak Swedish and no English so all he does is smile, showing off his prominent buck teeth, he's getting tall now and is on the skinny side but despite being bigger than the other boy, he can't communicate all that well yet. He's wearing one of his siblings' old toddler smocks b-but when he turns twelve he'll get his grown up tunic and breeches... for now he looks silly, though but it's easier for Swede's Mama to halp him with keeping clean in this. ]

Svenske... [ That just means 'Little Swede'. He's not named because his family never thought he'd live this long a-and now it's just... his name... ]

Svenske. [Maitimo repeats, enunciating it slowly to make sure he get's it right. Looking up at the bigger boy with a smile, hoping he got it right.] You don't talk much, do you? That's ok, though, I think you're nice anyways.

Ja... [ The Swede twirls his hair shyly and just begins tugging him. He wants to show his new friend a sea shell he found!

His Mama is definitely looking for him, they've been to church and he wandered off. Eventually he'll become more verbal and even learn some English but- but not just yet. He only plays with small children or he'll just stay with his Mama in the kitchen. ]

[And little Maitimo is only too happy to follow wherever his new friend want's to take him.

Waiting for his ammë and atar while they are of exploring or surveying get's boring and he himself has wandered off to find something more interesting to do than to talk to the birds.]

[ The Swede manages to locate the sea shell and picks it up, holding it out to give to his new friend. He is veryyy shy but new friend is small and not scary. He knows, if he is lost, Mama wants him to only talk to other childrens so he is being good even if he ran off. ]

Tak tak. [ That means 'thank thank' or 'thank you', his favorite word because he can say it after he gets food! ]

Ooooh! [The little elf boy is appropriately impressed by the sea shell, taking it into his hands with awe. He's never had a sea shell before and he finds it both very interesting and very pretty.

Then he jumps in to give the other boy a big hug.] Thank you!

[ The Swede hugs back shyly... ooh... friend! New friend! Hopefully, the little elf's Mama and Papa return soon so they can halp Swede find his Mama.

For now, he's very happy new friend loffed his present. He wiggles shyly. ]

Älska, tak tak! [ He smiles a little bigger, proclaiming loff and friendship. But then... ]

Svenske Mamma?

[Maitimo giggles with delight, hugging his new friend a bit tighter.]

Tak tak! [He exclaims, having gained some sense of what the word means.]

Mamma...? You mean your ammë?

[ His happy little face turns sad... where is his Mama? Why did he run away after church? At least he has a new small friend... b-but how can he go home? ]

Mamma? [ He looks around for her familiar blonde braid and apron. ]

Lost? [Maitimo asks his new friend worriedly.]

Don't worry. When ammë comes back she'll know what to do! [He says with the certainty of a child believing there is nothing his mother does not know how to fix.]

Svenske ensam... [ He is trying to say he is lonely and he does not know where his Mamma is... he sits down and holds onto his new little friend's hand tightly. At least he'll be easy to find in his white smock and with his very light blonde hair, just like Mama. ]

[Maitimo sits down right beside his new friend, leaning against his side and patting his hand in an attempt to offer some comfort.] It will be alright, friend, ammë will fix it. And if she can't she will ask Aulë to help you! He's a Vala! There's nothing they can't do, I think!

[Maitimo had once again wandered off from where his parents had told him to wait for them while they went exploring. It was, after all, boring all on his own and he wanted to do some exploring of his own.

He hadn't meant to get this lost, however. Which is why he's started following after the first person he's come across, an older girl child. Ammë always told him to find someone older if he needed help, so that's what he was going to do.]

Kind lady, please wait up!
