The Court of Night Blooming Flowers
The Night Court is the casual name for the 13 houses of Mont Nuit in the City of Elua
where the Servants of Naamah worship and ply thier trade.
Elua's blessed principle is 'Love as thou wilt' but love can take many forms.
These houses see to each and every shade and color of Elua's principle.
Pay a house fee and take your pick, but remember to leave a patron gift if you have been well pleased by Naamah's gifts.

How it Works

1. Comment with your character/s. Put their name and canon along with preferences in the subject space.
2. Others will tag with their character and the house they have chosen from the list.
3. Your character can either be visiting the house or working as one of Naamah's servants.
4. Play nice! Or naughtily, if you happen to be in Valerian or Mandrake house.

The 13 houses are essentially brothels, although religiously affiliated ones, so sexual situations are to expected. Also some houses lend themselves to more triggering fare so please be respectful of each other and talk it out with your RP partner if there are problems with a scenario.

The Midwinter Masque

On the Longest Night Cereus House hosts the Midwinter Masque, an elite and private function that all the houses attend in grand costume. The guests of the house are those chosen by each house's Dowaynes and of the highest status. Royalty, political leaders, high ranking officials. All of these are likely to attend and on the Longest Night no coin is exchanged. It is a night of revelry and gaiety spurred on by the evening's drink of choice. Joie a clear, potent liquor made from a rare and exquisite white flower served in small crystalline glasses by the youths of the House.

The 13 Houses of the Night Court

1. Alyssum - The House canon is modesty. Their motto is "with eyes averted", and the servants here are well suited to acting shy, modest, and slightly uncomfortable with their own desires. If you wish your lover to tremble and blush with shame when you reveal their nakedness, this is your destination.

2. Balm - The House canon is compassion. Their motto is "rest and be soothed". Those who need healing and soothing through gentle touch and companionship may come here. These adepts are also the most skilled at massage of all the houses.

3. Bryony - The House canon is cupidity and the desire for money. Their house is more of a carnival of wonders, where you may gamble with your desires in a game of will and wits. Be careful what favors you gamble with though, for the adepts who work here are said to rarely lose.

4. Camellia - The House canon is perfection. Those who work here are physically perfect, without flaw, and as such they are considerably more proud of their station. Perhaps haughty and brilliant would best describe the adepts who reside here.

5. Cereus - The House canon is fragility, their motto "all lovliness fades". The youthful and delicate serve here, those who hold their beauty for a fleeting moment. Cereus also has the distinction of being the oldest of all the houses. The adepts here are ones who know the value of living for the present and making each moment count.

6. Dahlia - The House canon is dignity and regality. All those who serve in Dahlia house conduct themselves as royalty, with the proper mannerisms, decorum, and attitude.

7. Eglantine - The House canon is performance. Those who serve here are skilled in the arts of singing, dancing, and poetry and can perform together or privately for their patrons.

8. Gentian - The House canon is purity of spirit. The adepts here can read visions and dreams, and may reveal things that hold great meaning to those they share their knowledge with.

9. Heliotrope - The House canon is love and devotion. Their motto is "thou and no other". It is said that when one lies with an adept from Heliotrope, they shall make you feel as if you are the only one who has ever touched their hearts.

10. Jasmine - The House canon is sensuality. Their motto is "for pleasure's sake" and the experience is pure hedonism. Adepts are said to be the most exotic of all the houses, and they emphasize this in their dress.

11. Mandrake - The House canon is sadism and dominance. The motto is "yield all". Adepts are Mandrake are trained to dominate those who come seeking such release, using skills and tools to bestow plain and pleasure. A signale is arranged beforehand that patrons can use should they ever wish to stop their session.

12. Orchis - The House canon is mirth, it's motto "joy in laughter". Adepts from this house are joyful people who believe in fun above all else. They are quick with a grin and a game, and skilled in making their patrons smile.

13. Valerian - The House canon is submission, the motto "I yield". Adepts are trained from childhood to experience pain with all pleasure and pleasure with all pain. They also have a signale they can use if they need to stop.

Tonight in the House of Eglantine there was a new performer. Rip had been taken on as a new courtesan and already it proved her voice was rather unique.

So when the performance started, the crowed was treated to the unique sight of a woman as pale as moonlight with long raven hair that billowed around her tall frame and with the most striking sapphire eyes. Her dress was a darker shade of purple that highlighted her physical attributes easily enough. She smiled towards the crowd before beginning.

The song she sang.. was indescribable. She moved across the stage like a flitting shadow as her song reached it's climax before finally crashing down. Every note spoke of longing and sensuality between lovers as a night to passion played out. Once the song drew to a close she gave a slight bow and moved off stage.

Rip was ushered off to one of the private rooms where she new a patron was waiting for a private performance from her.

Touda really wasn't sure quite why he was anywhere near the place he was currently occupying. True, it was nowhere near where the other officials were gathered in drifting clumps of conversation and drinks, sometimes with each other, sometimes with one of the various flowers on display. Touda hadn't always been so jaded as to avoid companionship, there had been a time years ago he'd been quite willing to enjoy a few hours with a Servant of Naamah. But even though he knew that tonight's entertainments and company had been paid for as a reward for their work over the last few months, Touda usually found some polite reason to be absent.

This year though, he had been caught without any escape and so he was sitting in the shadow of a dimly lit fountain with a eye-rollingly delicate cup of liquor dangling from his fingers. So many things he could be doing...

Though it was the Masque and he was dressed in clean, white falls of embroidered cloth, he was to meet an adept that his sister had requested on his behalf. Standing just outside of the grand ballroom, he wasn't much in the mood for revelry but the evening's drink helped in relaxing. The liquor burned as it slid down his throat and that warmth would soon spread to the rest of him.

There were very few things that the nobleman, Subaru, actively sought in life - that is, aside from what he was entrusted to seek as a practitioner of certain arts. But being alone for an extended time wrecks havoc on the soul and his sister bade him to visit the Night Court after a long month of self-imposed solitude. A heart-break of some sort, was the rumored reason.

Subaru considered what kind of adept was chosen for him. Tonight, what he wanted was to feel wanted and feel loved, and in all ways. Heliotrope would be fitting, it seemed.

Zandakar was lost in these strange lands so far from his home. Lands where they talked of Angels instead of the god, instead of Chalava. His tongue was still clumsy around the delicate D'angeline speech, used to the harsh language of his people as it was. He'd never known a people could make simple words sound like music until he'd come here. It was a strange place but beautiful and it made his heart ache for his Lilit that she could not see this beauty... and that it would all be destroyed one day when his mother and cruel baby brother came to conquer it.

For now though he had no place here, he had traded hands many times, bought and sold and escaped. There had been talk of giving him to Jasmine House once, exotic as he was. He was not built for the Night Court, though. He was built for hard labor... and killing. But it was not easy to blend in. He was tall and powerful, moving with the grace only a Mijaki knife-dancer could possess. Dark skinned and blue haired, his hair finally long enough again to be godbraided. Though it had taken a good deal of fumbled words to explain to these D'angeline what godbraids were. Tcha.

He did simple work now. Lead a simple life. Earned his keep and then some, if only because there were many that chose his shop over others for the chance to ogle the exotic young man in their city. He didn't feel young. 26 and most of those years had been spent fighting... killing. He felt old and more weary now than he had been even when he had met sweet, gentle Lilit with her kind smile and forgiving eyes.

It was not often he had money enough to visit the night court, rarer still that he accepted the company of strangers over the bitter company provided by memory. There were times, though, when his bed was too cold and the ache of loss too sharp and he would visit Balm, thinking of how Dimmi would have ridiculed him for it. But now, tonight, it was late... very late and his feeble attempts at sleep had only mocked him with dreams of Lilit, her sweet laugh and the way the sun shone on her skin. Which is why he had slipped silently through the streets, lost in thoughts only to find his feet had lead him to Orchis, instead of Balm. Which surely meant he was seen by the god and the god knew what his damaged heart needed. How long since he had smiled? How long since he had felt any joy?

So he had spoken in his muddled D'Angeline, tried to convey the particularly heart breakingly beautiful shade of blue of Lilit's eyes. The D'Angeline, these people had a word for everything. Too many words. The bright blue of clear skies over the rich red earth of the desert. The blue of the streams in his father's city. Blue like freedom and home and forgiveness... He did not have the words for it but the man seemed to understand what he meant. He also seemed to have someone in mind. So he had been led to a chamber, his hard earned money swept away. And now... he waited.

Terra d'Ange..... never has Lexaeus seen a land so very steeped in Light, even when the very precepts of the land seem as though they should be rooted in Darkness. He's been sent to do reconnaissance on this world, and while he hasn't seen every territory yet, he can't help but be impressed. Naamah's province leaves him most keenly aware of the strange twining and balance of what most worlds would believe should be a sharp dichotomy--especially in this 'Night Court' they're so very proud of. It's fascinating, really.....

Oh, he's sure Xigbar would be howling in laughter to hear that he's visiting what amounts to a brothel; the sniper would never let him live it down. Vexen would turn purple with the sheer impropriety of the admission, he imagines, while Xaldin would probably snort and approvingly mutter something about how he was finally learning the truth of these matters, and it was about time, too. Lexaeus isn't so sure about that, though--there's more to this place than meets the eye, he's sure of that. People seem fairly open about their religious teachings, here, this 'Elua and His Companions' that they revere. He's heard quite a few different versions of the stories already. But still, trying to unknot everything and come to a conclusion about it all.....

It's more difficult than anyone would really believe, given how freely they toss about this 'Love as Thou Wilt' principle. But is that really the whole story? Is this land, are these people all so incomprehensible for him right now because this is so powerfully a culture of the heart? Has he truly lost so much of himself that he finds himself lost and estranged from such expressions of pure humanity and intimacy?

It's a dark, discouraging thought, a thoroughly disturbing one that Lexaeus would prefer not to think on too hard if he can help it. So he selects a house to investigate--to patron, he supposes--, and heads off to it, buying an anemone from a street vendor on the way as a token offering. Balm, the house of compassion..... the most fitting place to unravel the mysteries of the Court of Night-Blooming Flowers, he thinks, if this country, this whole world truly aligns with the realm of the human heart. He leaves the flower, and the house fee, and allows himself to be escorted in to await an adept.

If nothing else, at least tonight isn't bound to end in awkwardness--Balm is supposed to be famous for massages even over and above the carnal arts, isn't it?
