any sort of setup preferred? wasted kaveh not minding the patrons getting a little too handsy, or a sober kaveh being hit on by a client who has less than good intentions but kaveh being kaveh wants to believe it’s the best case scenario, etc., etc… ]

[ it's late. later than alhaitham ever prefers to be awake and, of course, it's over the one person who could ever make him break away from his rationality or perfectly planned schedule.

kaveh has been out late before, but there are things that make this time different. after days on end of a mix of both a scant few hours of sleep and no sleep at all— alhaitham can tell, always— kaveh has finally finished the blueprints for a client. he'd come to their home to pick up the blueprints, and then asked kaveh out for drinks. alhaitham, without missing a beat, answered for kaveh with resolute "no."

of course, this led to an argument. right in front of kaveh's client, no less. kaveh won't look out for himself— alhaitham is painfully aware of this. drinking alcohol on an abysmal amount of sleep, and who knows how little food, is an awful choice, and kaveh needs to rest. if he wants to celebrate, he can celebrate here, and without his client. alhaitham doesn't say any of this but insists on kaveh staying. of course, kaveh takes this the worst possible way and storms out after giving alhaitham what he's sure he considers a piece of his mind.

perhaps the worst of it is, alhaitham knows kaveh was a least somewhat justified. kaveh is allowed to go out with whomever he pleases. unfortunately, not even rational men are free from irrational emotions.

alhaitham doesn't tell himself he's only here to bring kaveh home because he's concerned. he accepts that it's because he's jealous as well, because he loves kaveh, as much as kaveh thinks he hates him and thrives on mocking him, for whatever reason.

he immediately spots kaveh. it's hard not to; he's animated and loud, even for the current hour. and... his client's arm is around his shoulders. alhaitham exhales sharp through his nose before making a swift but calm beeline over to the two of them. ]

Kaveh.

[ooc: Could I perhaps interest you in something of a 12/15/19 sort of scenario? I can easily enough place Robin in the Akademiya in an AU. Perhaps give Kaveh a somewhat more recent Haravatat graduate who specialized in inter-darshan collaboration for this? Also would be happy to hear any further ideas you may have, or establish a bit of background if you'd like!]

[Robin's life had changed quite dramatically over his time at the Akademiya. Many of his fellow students had looked down on him or even openly mocked him for his background. Surely the abandoned child of unknown Eremite mercenaries had no reason to be among them in such esteemed company of seniors and peers alike.

To the dismay of several, Robin had proved himself to be exceptionally bright and able to think on his feet. It really never sat right with him to give up on something simply because it was difficult or deemed not worth the time of other Haravatat students, and over the years of his studies he'd gained a rather unique reputation. Instead of butting heads with the members of all other darshans, Robin had made a point to work closely with each several times -- after all, language was quite universally important between fields. From blueprints on odd or unrealized designs to documentation about ancient remedies, or even something as innocent as a tale or two, Robin had found all of it fascinating. So he'd thought why not make himself of use to those whose studies would benefit from what he found?

Eventually, his reputation had handily changed from an unknown nobody to a friendly and intelligent young man, one who was easily approachable as well as helpful. He'd really had no shortage of collaborations over the years, all of which had led to his graduation quite well before most of his peers.

All of that had led to where he was today, some carefully rolled copies of various ancient diagrams -- most of which depicted designs that had only remained concepts, and had never been implemented by their creators -- and bundles of his own notes. The ancient scrawl on the originals had certainly been in a sorry state, and while he wasn't necessarily finished with deciphering all of it, he had more than enough to get them started.

Perhaps he'd been up a little late getting this much done, but he supposed that working on a project with Kaveh could probably bring that out in a lot of people. No few of his past Kshahrewar partners had absolutely sung their senior's praises, and Robin had absolutely understood why. He'd spent some time over the years curiously analyzing a lot of past works, and Kaveh's had been some of the most visually interesting.

He breathes a sigh as he steps into the quiet side room where they were meeting, expression rather immediately apologetic even as he never lost his smile.]
