1. Boarded: Your ship has been boarded, and as captain you've been captured! Better hope the other captain gives quarter. Alternatively, it's a nice warm day for a swim. That plank was made for walking.

2. Victory: You've captured another ship! You knew those extra cannons would come in handy. And let's hope they've got lots of swag! Where's the captain? Are you the decent sort, or are you going to rub their face in it for a bit?

3. Swab the decks: You're a cabin boy! It's a good thing you don't mind doing all the dirty work, right? Anyway, the captain's calling; better see what they want.

4. Marooned: For a bit there you'd thought you were in Davy's Jones' grip, but somehow you've washed ashore with the driftwood. As you stare dazedly up from the surf, you have questions. Where are you? And who's that already on the shore?

5. Buried Treasure: Sink me! You've really found the mother lode...but you're not the only one. Who gets to take the treasure back to their ship? Better make sure it's you.

6. Rum: Rum, everywhere.

7. Swordfight: It's that person you can't stand! And they've taken your most valuable possession, that one of a kind thing you just can't live without! Better get that trinket back before it and your nemesis are gone over the side forever. Let's hear some swashes buckling.

8. Mutiny: The tack is full of maggots and this drinking water may as well have come from the gutter. There's one person to blame for this, and you're here to make especially sure that they pay for it. The captain does always seem to take the best treasure before everybody else.

9. Kidnapping: Don't they look rather peaceful, innocent even, sleeping so soundly there with their fancy nightclothes and pillows. Brings a tear to your eye, it does. Better take them aboard and send for a ransom.

10. Take a Gamble: Gotta spend your loot somehow, but it must have been the rum that had you bettin' everything at once! You've lost to your hornswagglin' shipmate; what did you lose, and what will they make you do now?

11. Under the Sea: You are now a Mermaid/Merman! That sailor over there sure looks appealing; let's see if you can lure them in with your charms. Don't forget that they can't breathe under water! You do seem to always forget, don't you. . .

12. Enemy from the Deep: What was that? Did you feel that? An unseen enemy is about to take this ship swiftly to the bottom of the ocean. Giant squid, enormous whales, sea serpents...hope you make it.

13. The Doldrums: Can you say cabin fever? The sails haven't moved in weeks. You're about seeing if your mates can relieve this awful boredom. And hopefully find some food and water. Don't squabble over it, now.

14. The Brig: Something you did has gotten you imprisoned in the very depths of this ship. How long until you see your next meal? When you see who put you here again, you'll make them pay. Hold on, maybe there's someone else here too.

He's not one of the flashy ratline swingers or swashbucklers and for the most part he stays below decks, but the view he gets over the nose of the cannon is good enough for him. He's lost two fingers to cannonballs but his spirits are hardly dimmed by it.]

Sinful, sure, but he'd rather sell his soul to the devil than to the ones who arranged the murder of his best friend.

Also as first mate to a pirate captain he's much more likely to get a claim on captured sweets. Sugar's rare out here and he values it more than gold.]

His crew is a rag-tag bunch of rogues united mainly by their loathing for unjust authority figures and the bounties placed upon their heads. They rarely kill, and during sacks of towns are as likely to redistribute the wealth as they are to take it for themselves. It's what makes him such an enemy to the corrupt Owl Commodore's side...he's as much a folk hero as he is a criminal. Perhaps not the most profitable enterprise, but sticking a fork in the Owl's eye is worth a few lost guineas here or there.]

[ Quite a good marksman, athletic, there's no one who can beat him for locating and hunting down rare game on out of the way islands. Also a good one to have on your side if you're fighting a sea monster.

He makes a good second in command, the quiet and competent doesn't-talk-much expertise-in-strange-places guy who only answers to the captain. ]

She paid Shai a hefty sum to impersonate her and delay her father's discovery of the elopement, and Shai - eager as only a thief could be for access to the Liu estates - gladly accepted. This is only a small snag in her plans. Of course, if anyone finds out she's an imposter, there's a good deal less incentive to keep her alive and intact.]

A coward by nature, this foppish son of English aristocrats began spreading rumors about his own bravery and ferocity and while there is very little proof to his claims, the ladies of the local ports are only too eager to swoon over a pirate with such an impressive reputation... not to mention looks. His handsome countenance is the stuff of legends. After all, it's not often one sees a pirate with such white and shiny teeth! ]

[The only reason the Pearl puts into port in Tortuga is a need of repairs. A Spanish merchant ship had given them a run for their money, and while she now sat in Jones' Locker, Hector's own ship is in desperate need of attention, listing horribly near the scuppers and missing a mast.

Well, missing is perhaps the wrong word. It's still laid across the main deck, but splintered, and they've already pulled down the sails, in preparation for what must be done once she can be hauled from the water. And perhaps it's not that bad of a thing, really, Hector realizes, as he stands on the dock watching the crew work, since God only knows when Jack Sparrow last had her out of the water to scrape the hull. There was no telling what muck was growing on her.

But, damage was done, and that was gold out of the ship's account that would punch quite a hole in the money for supplies. Money he'd no doubt have to match with gold from his own shares of the loot. Of course.

Turning from the Pearl with a sigh, he starts off toward the town, which is, as always, full of activity: Stumpets selling themselves, gunfire, and of course, fist fights and loud, drunken singing. Ah, Tortuga.

But as he pushes through the crowd (some of whom back off the minute they get a look at him, because even drunk, the reputation of Hector Barbossa resonates) toward the Faithful Bride, for something perhaps a little stronger than the grog they'd been making due with, he spots a figure he's sure he knows. And as he looks, he realizes who he's staring at, and his brow draws down.

That absolute fool Lockhart. Wonderful. No doubt telling more lies for he benefit of the ladies of the night (none of whom Hector would personally touch with a pole, as Jack Sparrow was more than acquainted with all of them). His hand drops to the hilt of the sword hanging from his baldric, and he honestly can't help himself, his temper getting the best of him.]

Lockhart, ye coward. It was my understanding ye weren't to show your face in Tortuga nary again.

[Fujiwara no Mokou isn't well known in most circles, but most people have at least heard of government ships being burned to ashes, or of the same fate befalling pirate ships.

Living for as long as she has, and being unable to die, Mokou isn't a typical human. Nobody knows how or why she got to this part of the world, but the story would probably go some way to describing her bad attitude.

Her ship is tiny, more of a pirate raft than a ship, and barely big enough for a crew of four, but it's big enough for her on her own, and that's all she needs.

Something seems to have her riled up these days, and some days it's enough to make her attack the first ship in sight. Or to jump aboard and see what they have in their holds. A girl has to eat, after all.

[of all the tales of ghost ships and crews that are shared from port to port, the story of Captain Murasa has to be the most infamous. a young deckhand, victim of a drowning accident, reborn as a furious spirit who seized control of the first unfortunate ship to pass over her watery grave. they say she's more likely to sink vessels rather than plunder them and is unable to sail near any land for some reason.

it's true, really. so maybe it's inaccurate to label her as a pirate. but she's certainly one of the more ruthless seafarers out there.

the ship that Mokou had been captured on is actually Murasa's fourth ship; the others were capsized the moment the crew displayed any sign of mutiny. idiots. ghosts can't be killed. rats scurry across the damp ground of the brig, ready to snatch any food that's left for prisoners. the human is wrapped up in heavy chains meant to hold anchors; overkill, maybe, but Murasa had been haunting the seas long enough to know about Mokou.

and the ghostly captain herself makes an appearance after a few hours of silent solitude, phasing through the wall on the other side of the bars. she doesn't say anything, just stares at Mokou with dead, glassy eyes.]

Telmarine ships are known far and wide. It doesn't matter. It hasn't yet stopped them being ridiculously successful. They were known, after all, for being successful--cut-throat, rough, able pirates who captured the ships they wanted and sank the ones they didn't.

At the end of the day, there's perhaps only a handful of ships in the world a Telmarine vessel would turn from. Four, to be precise.

And of course one of those four crossed Caspian's path, still young and fresh into his maiden voyage. Of course he's led his men well, battled without restraint, in the face of the overwhelming forces from the other. Of course he's managing, barely, to hold his head up high despite being forced to his knees before the captain of the ship which has--after a long pitched battle--taken his.

[Must be pretty miserable, being thrown in your own ship's brig by an enemy crew. All Stiles knows is that his name is John Mitchell--respectable enough--and he'd objected pretty fiercely to walking the plank. Can't blame him for that, either.

Meanwhile, Stiles has been demoted from cabin boy to watch dog, so here he is, eyeing the shackles on Mitchell's wrists and ankle as he sniffs at an unmarked bottle, then takes a tentative sip. Could get in trouble for this. Doesn't really care.]

The wind on her face, the salt on her lips, a tilting deck under her boots all things that made this life worth living. Of course it didn't help that she was the Captain of her own ship. A barque, rigged with orange triangle sails, even in port it looked as if was faster than the wind. A fact many ships of the line had discovered to be true (and not counting many of the slow moving frigates carrying gold and other riches back to the Continent.)

Yoruichi Shihōin, Captain Yoruichi to her crew, commanded "The Black Cat" one of the more feared corsairs in the Caribbean. One could not outrun her, none had out gunned her, many had struck their colours and heaved to at just the sight of those orange sails.

Honestly, it was a bit of a let down for the Captain. A pirate's life indeed, she thought to herself as she walked over the deck to her quarters.

To say that one of Captain Yoruichi's crew was a bit odd was putting it somewhat nicely. River Tam often remained silent and locked away in her own world. It wouldn't seem that she could off much at all except both the Captain and the crew knew differently. There wasn't much River couldn't do from ringing sails, fixing weapons, and especially navigating.

In fact it was fair to say that no one in the world could navigate as well as River Tam. Which was why finding her standing on the bow of the ship, telescope in hand and writing on a sheet of paper next to the map on the table wasn't usual at all.

"The island could come into view in ten minutes," she pause, "and thirty-two seconds."

From his excellent hat (ostrich feathers and a big goofy pendant on the tricorn, for maximum fancy) to his three-toed boots, he is the consummate corsair. Though, being as he's entirely too soft-hearted to actually damage anyone and not too greedy, he's a more historically accurate sort of pirate, raiding occasionally for supplies and mostly just kicking around with a lot of other outcasts not having to put up with anyone's nonsense.]

[He's rather practical really, minimal crew (or sometimes no crew at all), no squawking parrot at the moment because the last one made a better experiment from the mast.

He's more likely to raid random ships, including his fellow pirates', which makes him an annoying git. He probably doesn't have a full size ship just yet and isn't after gold as much as he is after things to trade, including honey. Don't call him Sweet Teeth to his face though, he'll have to run you through for that.]
