[New York in July is a character in and of itself. More than that, it's a force of nature. The city is alive with heat, the streets themselves roiling with a sort of cosmic, lazy tension, as the city settles in for another baking hot summer. No matter where you go it never quite gets better. Everyone gets sweaty and snappish and hot as hell, even their visitors from another world (Bruce wouldn't have thought a deity could be described as crabby, but Thor proves him wrong.)

And Loki, well. He's never quite sure what to make of Loki, and sometimes gets the impression the feeling is mutual. So on this particular swelteringly hot day, he comes and finds him, and clears his throat, and offers him a coca-cola, one from one of the old glass bottles that Steve likes so much.

The heat doesn't actually get to Bruce, but that doesn't mean he doesn't appreciate an ice-cold soda, the way the condensation feels on his skin when he touches the glass.]

It's hot. Incredibly hot. In fact, Asuka's not sure of the last time it was this hot (yesterday). As it is, the day has crept by in little lurches and starts, seconds scraping by as the heat seems to soak into everything, permeate it. It makes her want to sit still, to immerse herself in it and simply let the seconds roll past as the cicadas chirp on outside in their endless drone. She tries to be energetic, but today - today she's just going to let it go. So instead of trying to do anything about it, she's slumped over the couch, stripped down to a loose, over-large tank top and pair of shorts. The fan she has going whirrs in the background as it slowly turns side-to-side. She can feel beads of sweat rolling down the back of her neck and she groans out loud.

"Why is it so hot?"

More of a whine, really. As if someone owes her an explanation.
