[He sends over a holo of a piece of a stone slab. It's obviously very old, and was once part of a bigger piece. The slab is covered in an ancient, dead language and depicts an ancient Sith.]

I believe this dates back thousands of years, but writings of that era are scarce, and I have little artwork to compare it to.

they're not as scarce as you'd think
this is about three thousand years old, some of my studies go as far back as twenty thousand years ago which makes this almost look fresh off the holonet

the figure's someone of the sith species, not sure how much you know about them. they're not really around nowadays, and some people don't even know the word sith was ever used to indicate a species at all

why are you looking into this anyways? curiosity? or is it a more professional inquiry?

I know very little of the Sith species, I'm afraid. But now that you've confirmed some details for me, I can start to get a more accurate reading from this.

A contact of mine wished to know about this. Sating my own curiosity is simply an extra benefit.

i didn't think we'd have something in common, but what do you know!

i know of them. figured they were all dead by now, whether at the hands of rogue jedi or their masters

My contact claims to be one of the few survivors. They found that artifact on Dromund Kaas and wanted me to look into it.

so i take it this isn't an empire-sanctioned inquiry

that costs extra yknow. i'm not great at keeping my mouth shut

My findings tell me that Dromund Kaas was once the seat of power for the Sith Empire, though it is mostly overgrown ruins by now. If my contact found anything else of note, they won't say.

honestly these sort of things usually boil down to boring force politics. they're not useful to you unless you're looking for something specific, whether for power or money

Sith politics are something I don't think I'll ever understand, unfortunately.

got it! there's another fee for fieldwork

there's not much to it honestly. some guy wants power so he kills another guy for it. repeat for tens of thousands of years

although to be fair to the sith, that's almost all of history.

That seems terribly inefficient and wasteful. Why kill someone when they could be a potential ally instead?

because you can't trust that they're actually on your side. in the end, everyone only cares about their own survival.

That amount of distrust can only lead to ruin.
