( everything smells worse than it used to. that's what stands out the most about new york, even with a flood of pulses singing through the air. maybe he should have stayed in d.c. it wasn't anywhere near as overwhelming to his senses, there, and breaking into the hospital for blood packs was far easier to get away with.

but. but it would have been too easy, too obvious. no, he knows they're already hunting for him again. he's too valuable for them to give up, even having been pried from their very fingers. this is still a better choice.

and he's certainly not biding his time in brooklyn, even if his old memories—the few he recalls easily, anyway—tempt him to find something soothing and filled with comfort. things have changed too much, and he's no longer who he used to be. he deserves the filth and decay, the rot that digs itself into the darkest alleys and leaves nothing to spare.

he almost wants to talk himself out of it. blood. fresh. some brutish looking folk that pissed off the wrong guy and ate pavement for it instead. bruised knuckles, cracked ribs. god, he can smell all of it and some sick part of him want to lick every fleck off every break of skin.

but there's something else, a few drips that don't belong to them. maybe a broken nose? or a cut? there's barely a hint of it in the air, for all the mess that's been left behind. that's not normal. only a few drips. a fluke? or danger? )

She's big into flowers and plants and gardening. I know his planet is THE DESERT to end all deserts so it might be tall order to find her a garden somewhere. Or maybe she's isolated near a plant nobody is living near and happens to be able to help encourage growth? I don't remember the canon to that degree but I definitely wanna swing something! He can be a goof, she can laugh at him and make him a flower crown. ]

She's out to take vengeance protect her kindred and upend The System with the power of friendship and this gun she found. Easily AUed into other sci-fi settings since her canon is somewhat vague interstellar military sci-fi, or I'm down for having fun with respeccing her into another genre. Regardless of setting she's probably some type of rogue construct or formerly bound servant, and she's likely to cause trouble for anyone in her way. ]

Sex Work AU

• "Guys Literally Only Want One Thing And It's Fucking Disgusting," am I right?
• Looking to try out two different options here:
  • Canon/Medieval Brothel AU - Basic gist of this one keeps Clive either in the world of FFXVI or AUs into an equivalent or generic medieval-ish setting.
    • Similar flow of events: (1) Clive loses his father and brother because of his mother's scheming, and (2) is taken prisoner by an enemy empire.
    • Canon divergence would be that his mother didn't care enough that she was like, "Don't even bother putting him with the Bearers/soldiers," or something happened like a paperwork snafu or the person responsible for him thought he was too pretty to be wasted as a soldier, etc.
    • In any case, he ended up thrown into a brothel and spending 13 years either as part of the brothel or eventually pawned off as a male courtesan/hetaira to a client.
    • Looking for clients, fellow sex workers, patrons (if going the courtesan/hetaira route), and canonmates in general (could still be fun to be rescued/freed by Cid, reunite with Jill and Joshua, etc.)
  • Modern Porn AU - Obviously, a lot more divergent, but ideally lighter/"happier" and without the elements of coercion/slavery.
    • Elements I'd prefer for this route would be that Clive wasn't so much forced into this as much as he chose it.
    • Could still have elements like his father dying and being cut off from the family by his mother, so he had to make his own way as a teenager.
    • Honestly looking for glitz and glam RP with this setting, so modernity, obscene luxury, and maybe some romance or erotica novel tropes.
• General thrust of this is obviously sexual, potentially romantic, etc. but I am also looking for gen threads and platonic friendships/family connections/enemies, etc. with these backgrounds.
• If shipping and/or smut are your thing, I am OTA: M/M, M/F, nonbinary, trans, and xeno characters all welcome.
• Canonmates (strict canon and AU'd), OCs, and crosscanon all welcome.

( up for canon AUs, given the... obvious ghfhf but also i'm really up for anything. jyn was canonically a child soldier who spent some time in a rebel cell after her mother was killed and her father taken into imperial custody, so that's something that can be played around with in any other space/sci-fi setting, as well as her time on her own as a petty criminal/taking whatever jobs for survival before being found by the rebellion. i also have an AU for her in a pacific rim setting, and i have both a college AU and a modern AU if that's more your speed, so really i'm here for whatever! )

( canon AUs are my jam, given... stares at the ending of rogue one, lmao. as far as other stuff goes, cassian is canonically a spy and assassin for the rebellion with a fuckton of trauma that he's accumulated, so that's pretty malleable into any number of settings that i'm all down to play with. there is a pacific rim AU i've thought of specifically, and i do also have both college and general modern AUs if you'd prefer that. up for anything! )

Even with things looking good for the mages, even if they're all free now and don't have to live in the Circles, there will still be those who want Anders' blood. Even if he was pardoned, there would be those who will wanted him to suffer. As long as he was in Thedas, he wouldn't be safe. Therefor, he'd decided that he had to leave Thedas. Initially, he'd planned on just going out to sea and finding a new continent, but once he caught up to Isabela and Merrill, they had a more radical idea. Merrill still had her mirror and she managed to get it working. In her research, she'd discovered that it was more than just a portal to the Fade. It could outright take Anders to anywhere in the greater multiverse. It was risky, but what did he have to lose?

After some heartfelt goodbyes with his former companions, Anders steps through the mirror and into the unknown.

When he wakes up, it's sunrise and he's in an unfamiliar wilderness. Standing up, he surveys his surroundings, thankful that there's enough light out. He can see some thick woods nearby, and to his other side he can see a beach. And on that beach is a vessel of some kind. Are those giant tentacles?

He can hear shuffling nearby and he goes to investigate. There's a very pale elf with curly white hair nearby. Any suspicious thoughts as to why someone is skulking about the woods at night are overridden by cold and hunger as he approaches the elf.

"Excuse me. Do you know where the nearest village is?"

[ the shift from stablekeeper to knight happens very quickly and unexpectedly. it's sudden: blitzø doesn't actually get any proper knight's training, and he's expected to act as one without knowing left from right.

all because when the time had come, he'd managed to protect the prince when no one else could. with prince stolas' actual knight dead at the feet of the attacker, no one had expected the man that took care of the horses to be the one to pick up his fallen sword and take out the threat neatly and cleanly.

unflinchingly, too: he'd seemed completely unaffected by needing to kill a man, simply getting the job done and then letting others take care of the rest of the issues. he'd intended to slink back into the quiet shadows, to go back to what he'd been doing for years beforehand, but he hadn't been so lucky.

and now, to be the personal knight of the prince he'd spent scarce time in childhood with? who he wasn't allowed to be the friend of once stolas had hit the age where he'd had duties as a prince?

it's not as though they'd interacted more than in passing since they were children. not as though blitzø's done anything but watch him grow, come into his own, get married as he'd been meant to (when they were children, stolas had once said he'd wanted to marry blitzø and even then, he'd laughed at the absurdity), and have a child.

it doesn't matter. blitzø is, apparently, moving up in the world even though he doesn't know what he's doing and he's waiting for the pitfalls to open up under him and swallow both himself and stolas whole.

tonight, it's a social event. tonight, blitzø should be able to stand quietly on the sidelines and just watch as stolas goes about his charmed life. tonight, blitzø stands as stolas sulkily finishes getting ready for the night's festivities, hands clasped behind his back and head tilted to the side to keep unruly dark hair out of his face. ]
