Carnival
"Was it fun where you went?" asked the boy,
"No, it was miserable." said the man,
"It could never be fun without you.
Have you been to the tree house lately?"
"Not since you left," said the boy.
"I've just been sitting here waiting,
for you to take me to the carnival,
where we could eat candy floss
and hot dogs to our bellies ached."
-Paddy Martin, "So You're Back, Than!"
WHAT TO DO:
1. Post with your character--name, fandom and any particular preferences go in the subject line as usual.
2. You can either roll or pick a scenario (or scenarios!) from the list or leave your comment blank.
3. Reply to people!
4. Have fun and be mindful of your partner's preferences.

OPTIONS:
1. Games: From classic ring toss to the shooting gallery, here's your chance to win a prize for yourself or for that special someone. Some say the games at a carnival are rigged, but maybe, just maybe, you'll get lucky!
2. Food and Drink: The sweet smell of funnel cake and the familiar briny aroma of popcorn draw you over to the food and drink tent. There's cotton candy, candied nuts, and cheep booze, all here for your enjoyment.
3. Classic Rides: The carousel, the ferris wheel. All carnivals need these classic rides for kids and adults who aren't looking for the excitement of the faster-paced rides. Snuggle close to your partner and see if you can see your house from the top of the wheel.
4. Something More Exciting: This is for thrill-seekers. Here you'll find the Tilt-a-Whirl, the Gravitron, the Screamin' Swing--all the rides designed to make you lose your lunch. Hope you didn't have too much cotton candy!
5. Freakshow: o they really have a bearded lady in that tent? It's time to find out. Buy a ticket and see the greatest oddities the world has to offer.
Hard Mode: one of you actually is the oddity being gawked at by the other. How does that make you feel?
6. Tunnel of Love: Or perhaps tunnel of mild boredom. The red-tinted lights and quasi-romantic music are meant to make this ride a great makeout spot, if the chemistry is there.
7. Hall of Mirrors: You and your partner entered, thinking it would be easy to get out again, but dead ends abound in this wacky mirror-maze, and each mirror seems to show a more and more distorted image of each of you.
8. Fortune Teller Whether one of the creepy machines or the even creepier women dressed up in a culturally insensitive costume, you cross someone's palms with silver and get your future told. Will it be happiness forever with your partner, or will ill tidings be bound your way?
Optional: Use http://www.wisdomportal.com/JS/RandomFortunes.html o get your fortun
9. Wildcard!: I know I forgot something, probably several somethings, so here's your wildcard for whatever else you can fit into this meme.

Ganymede | a different kind of carnival but here we are~
"T'is beautiful work," he murmured, sliding one onto his arm to tug the laces closed, though he'd rolled up his sleeves in deference to the sun dappling the grounds. There was music playing from a staage somewhere nearby, the smells of food breezing around them, and the riotous colors of everyone's clothes blurring into the crowd. "Ashley, look at these..."
no subject
Reaching for his husband's hand he turned it over so he could help him with the laces. There is a soft smile on his lips. "I'm looking, baby. They are very... distracting."
Because Ashley loves the way his arms look. Damn. Especially when he rolls up his sleeves like that.
no subject
"Thank you for bringing me here," he murmured, once he'd bought the little leather pieces, and they were staning on the wooden step back down to the dirt 'street'. "It's been a long time since I did this. And I remember parts of this," Ganymede said lightly.
no subject
A little too well, he thought. The outfit he was wearing was very distracting. Standing on the street again Ashley took the second leather brace from Ganymede's hand and helped him lace it up. "I like doing things with you. Things you enjoy. And?" His hands smoothed over the front of his jacket. "Look at me. I might wear this to a board meeting."
no subject
He liked the way the blue made Ashley's eyes stand out--those deep gold-flecked eyes were magical, and he'd seen them so many ways, he loved it. "You're going to have all the girls wanting pictures with you looking like that. Like everyone's prince charming."
no subject
Ashley has noticed the way people look at his husband. He doesn't mind one bit. Not feeling jealous is different for him. There isn't any part of him that doesn't trust Ganymede completely. Until they were together he didn't really understand that was where his jealousy came from, not trusting the person he was with. Hell, Ash had even trusted Ganymede to go out and date other men when they were first together. The small group of girls that have trailed behind them not so quietly commenting makes him smirk, not squirm with jealousy.
"Have you seen Princess Bride? Those chicks back there think you are a much sexier version of the pirate guy." Ash grins. "The curvy blonde girl said she, and I quote, needs you biblically."
no subject
His head tilted gently towards the tug, listing a little towards Ash between steps and turning on his heels as he laced his fingers with his love's. "And anyway if you all think I'm sexy you should see my husband," Ganymede called to the girls behind them, tilting his head at Ashley.
no subject
He glanced back at the group behind them and grinned, shaking his head as he did. Ash loved hearing Ganymede call him husband to other people. It still caused him to faintly blush and his heart raced. "Don't tease them. We'll end up mauled by feral women." Giving his hand a tug Ash took them in the direction of cheering and clapping.
"Let's go watch them fight."
no subject
Not so much for what would undoubtedly happen before or after--possibly both--but that was neither here nor there. And he liked teasing Ashley with the unspoken knowledge that he understood exactly what was going on between them. "Did you figure out which one you're cheering for yet?" The knight participants in the joust had been advertised on broadside posters all over the little area, touting their skills so the audience could choose from among them.
"We should make a weekend of this sometime. Stay in a hotel, dress up the whole day...stay for all the acts. I forgot how fun these are," Ganymede murmured. "Getting to be whoever you want, accurate or not."
no subject
Then again just thinking about tying Ganymede up in a chair had him half hard. He bumped his husband with his shoulder. "I like the underdog. Which ever one that is."
Tugging him closer Ash brushes his lips against his temple. "We can get a hotel and stay." Another kiss but this one is lower and is brushed against that spot on his neck he loves so much. "Sounds like you want to roleplay, sweetheart."
no subject
"The underdog...I think that's the yellow and black. Keoghan? Something like that. The one with the long hair," he chuckled. "I should have known." Today was a day they had play sword fights as well, you could match up with an opponent and a wooden sword in the arena, and he'd be lying if he said the idea wasn't appealing. "Maybe I do....but I kind of like the idea. Getting to be someone else for a minute."

The Ultimate Princess turns around to catch sight of it all, her long hair swaying in the wind; the music is extremely corny and almost unbearably loud, the attractions and the mascots running them garish and almost cheap-looking. Its brittle attempt at ostentation is almost laughable in how easy it'd be to pick apart, and Sonia loves it to deatht.
The heavy scent of sweet treats so overwhelmingly fused with that of fried meats and Gods only knew what. The sticky residues of candy on the ramps. The cheap looking prizes from the game stands that are most definitely rigged, as taught by plethora of trustworthy tv dramas. Is this not the pinnacle of mundane relaxation? ]
A fortune teller! Tanaka-san, look!
[ And in the midst of it all, the boy who is also her classmate. ]
Could it be the real thing...?
no subject
Hmph. Of course it's not.
[Gundam dismisses her idea while facing the mechanical fortune teller with an unamused expression.]
It is but an automaton, another of mankind's frivolous imitations of that which is beyind them. Hehehe... Look upon it! It does not even have a third eye!
no subject
[ The princess nods with quite the serious look, stepping closer to the automaton in question in an effort to perceive what is so easily apparent to her classmate. ]
I must confess I fail to recognize the presence of this third eye... But I suppose it is something no machine could ever hope to attain, no matter how advanced.
[ Yes, there is no way that such a thing could happen. ]
It seems I still have much to learn. However...
no subject
[Gundam smirks and folds his arms confidently. It's always nice to have someone who takes him at his word as readily as Sonia does. He watches as she investigates the robotic fortune teller, fully prepared to ramble on about his own superiority to the prophet that was built by man. But her last word leaves him wondering.]
Yes? [He asks with his brow raised.] What is it?
no subject
[ She even has the grace to blush a tiny bit, hands neatly folding themselves over her skirt as she frets. After all, be it people or machine, the fortune tellers were often the focus of great and interesting events on the japanese dramas so beloved by her nation.
So as expected, for the princess so eager to enjoy this taste of normalcy‒ ]
That is... Oh, pay it no mind. How silly of me. Let us move on, Tanaka-san‒ there's much left to be seen!
no subject
Hmph. There's nothing wrong with your whims. In fact... I find myself feeling a faint curiosity myself.
[Not just that, but he finds himself wanting to ensure that Sonia does something that can make her happy. Even if it is a ridiculous robotic fortune teller. He looks off to the side, while adjusting his scarf.]
Go on, ask that false prophet your fate! Let us test how keen its senses truly are.
1/2
[ Turns out making her happy is quiet an easy thing
when your name isn't Soda. She beams at him, hands oh so briefly clinging to his arm as she forgets herself in her excitement. ]Let us see for ourselves what awaits us in the future!
no subject
Let's see... If I understand correctly, I am to please my hand here, and...
[ Resting her hand atop the outline drawn over the plastic crystal ball, she watches the little ring of lights beam and blink at her while the distorted recording of a old crone cackling plays for the long seconds that it takes the apparatus to produce a slip of paper from between its metal lips. ]
Goodness! How creative!
[ She almost feels like applauding. Instead she takes the slip with her fortune, reading it out loud. ]
'A faithful meeting shall soon bear fruit'.
[ ... ]
That's... rather vague, isn't it?
no subject
And yet, he can't help but be somewhat endeared by Sonia's fascination with it. Gundam continues watching as the fortune teller regurgitates its fortune, and he looks unimpressed as she reads it aloud.]
Indeed. It is far too general to be a roadmap of one's destiny! [He shakes his head.] Is this truly the limits of this machine's power?
no subject
[ She taps her chin for a few seconds, seemingly lost in thought. ]
Indeed, the only encounter of any significance that comes to mind would be meeting you, Tanaka-san, alongside our dearest friends. But have our bonds not matured already...?
[ Perhaps there is more to this fortune than what she originally thought. ]
Ah, but please do not mind me. Will you not try it for yourself?
no subject
[There's also other ways in which their bond can grow further... but Gundam refuses to think about such sentimental things!!
Rather, he's reminded that it's his turn, which makes for a good segue from that topic.]
Ah yes. Let us see if this automaton can truly trace the route of my astral energy!
[With that, he dramatically steps forward and slaps his hand atop the crystal ball, as if unleashing an energy attack. He them sits through the cackling until the fortune is printed out.]
"Your talents will be recognized and suitably rewarded." Ha! Is that all? That's already happened! Hope's Peak Academy has already perceived and recognized one of my many talents! Is it truly the future you see, or the distant past? [He asks mockingly.]
