2/22 is Cat Day. To glean from Wikipedia…

“In Japan, National Cat Day is celebrated on February 22, as the date resembles the words "nyan nyan nyan" (meow meow meow). It is celebrated with people posing with photographs of themselves with their pet cats, and businesses selling cat-themed cuisine.”

With that being said… it’s Cat Day!

It’s time to celebrate, cats and kittens. What will you do for Cat Day? Here’s a few ideas:

OPTIONS:


1. Why not visit a cat cafe? Enjoy a cappuccino (catpuccino?) and pet some adorable kitties!


2. Maybe take a stroll around your neighborhood and greet the local strays? They’d probably love a few scritches or treats.


3. Spend some time with your own kitty! Break out the cat toys and cat nip!


4. As if we had to say it… maybe you’re feeling kind of feline-like? Don’t be surprised if you end up sprouting cat ears and a tail!

Fukuzawa Yukichi | Bungou Stray Dogs

A large gray cat tries to text that he won't be at the office today due to a serious case of being a cat, but texting is too hard. Navigating the buttons on his phone is hard enough. Instead he winds up sending a meow to a few different people. At least, one of them is Ranpo. Ranpo can figure out what happened or enough of it.

That said, there isn't a way to easily carry his phone with him, so Fukuzawa leaves it behind for the day like the days of old. Also like some of the oldest days of old, he is much much smaller than usual. Yet he makes his way out toward the various haunts of the cats in his neighborhood. He will befriend at least one of them! Cat to cat.

The message is an odd one, given it's Fukuzawa's phone and Ranpo eyes it a moment before he rolls himself out of bed. He's going to be late but there aren't any pressing cases at the moment.

So his first stop is Fukuzawa's to check on him, fielding calls from the others at the agency so they knows it's being looked into. He has a key, lets himself in and isn't surprised to find the apartment empty. And he knows it's empty as soon as he enters. It just feels different.

So he turns, locks the door again before heading down and into the neighborhood.

((He's more of a dog person, but if there's a shelter holding a public adoption event nearby, he'll come pet and play with the kitties.

Alternatively: He is now a cat. A beautiful fluffy Siberian cat with orange eyes (or maybe he keeps his dark brown eyes as a hint that he is not a natural cat?) and pristine white fur. Can he still talk or is he just going to incessantly meow at people until he finds someone who can turn him back? Is it your character's fault he is now a cat?

Open to other ideas if you have any!

Feel free to have your character recognize him as a celebrity/in that context, though since I am voicetesting I'd rather go with "the characters are meeting for the first time" than assumed CR.
