[Sensing an opportunity, Khan flicks his eyes down Kirk's body, still half-hidden under his desk, and back up to a lightly flushed face.]

[Khan is, all things accounted for, incredibly lonely (though to admit as much would be weak). He passes his days in social isolation, his evenings in solitude. This century is not his own, and he does not have the company of his own people to share his thoughts. The resentment he feels for being separated from them will likely never pass. Kirk speaks of sacrifice; at least he has a choice.]
