out the window

...it seemed like a good idea at the time.

de·fen·es·tra·tion
noun
the act of throwing a thing or especially a person out of a window: the defenestration of the commissioners at Prague.
- Post with your character.
- Reply to other characters.
- If you need a prompt, hit up the RNG and...
1. You are about to defenestrate yourself. Is this a suicide attempt? Is it merely because you need a quick exit and fortunately the building is only one or two stories tall so it's not that much in the way of defenestration? Well. Either way, you're about to throw yourself out of a window and somebody caught you in the act.
2. You're defenestrating your/someone else's belongings. Is it because it's a messy break-up? Is it a fit of rage? It doesn't matter, because unless someone actively stops you you'll end up defenestrating the contents of the entire room.
3. You're defenestrating/defenestrated a helpless NPC! Or maybe they're not so helpless. They could be an assassin or something.
4. You're defenestrating the person who replied to you! (In the event that person happens to be your long lost brother, your beloved mother, your one true love, or someone equally close to you, you may assume that mind control was involved.)
- And kick ass and take names when you land!

Minoru - OC
no subject
Niko was looking out said window onto the drop below. Minoru about to be thrown out of the window so he could perform so epic parkour moves. He had this, didn't he? Fredrik had been telling Niko about how cool Minoru was at this. Ninja Warrior champ!
"Let me know when you're ready for me to throw you out of the window."
The Finn still had his cast on his ankle but that didn't stop his arms and upper body from working.

The fact that they were doing it at Minoru’s apartment in the Nexus and not the bands’ apartment was also intentional. Ziggy would freak if he felt it happening while it was happening. Telling him about it later was much easier for everyone.
“You can totally pick me up and throw me, right?”
How strong was Niko? How much momentum could he expect? Was he about to be a human football or a sack of human potatoes?

The Finn laughed and looked out the window once more at the crystalline snow on the ground. It was a carpet of complete white which was rather reminiscent of home, giving the guitarist a pang of home sickness. LA didn't have much snow, if any, except high up on the mountains.
"I haven't been to the Nexus much so seeing snow make me think of my home. This will be fun. Yeah, I can pick you up and throw you because it's only my ankle that's weak at the moment."
Niko was used to skating along with a heavy boombox resting on his right shoulder usually so Minoru should be easy enough. In theory.
"Ok, ready to be lifted up?"
no subject
He might have been a thrill seeker, but Minoru wasn’t stupid. There were physical limits to what the human body could withstand, and anything above that was bordering on deadly.
“Snow like this makes for a much softer landing, and I don’t have to worry about destroying the downstairs lady’s tulips yet.” Minoru glanced out the window, and turned back to Niko. “Are you gonna toss me head first or feet first?”
(If Isamu were here, he’d be the first to tell you that the heaviest boomboxes are around 13 and a half kilograms. A Minoru, by comparison, is significantly more than that.)
no subject
Safely that is.
He wasn't trained like Minoru was and parkour was something he'd never tried, even though Niko knew he'd probably be good at it. The boy liked to climb and do a lot of outdoor sports, as well as martial arts.
"How do you like to be tossed?"
Some may insert a dirty joke right here but Niko was asking seriously because he didn't' want Minoru hurt.

He had a very quick flashback to the first time he tried to jump off his parents' roof as a kid. He thought it would be okay since he was landing on a trampoline. Long story short, he missed the trampoline and ended up in the ER on Christmas morning with a broken collarbone.
And speaking of safety...
"If you can get a good arc, it would be like diving head first. I'll tuck and roll out of it. If there wasn't so much snow, I probably wouldn't do that from this high. If you toss me out feet first, it's an easier landing. More like a normal jump."
Going over sideways would honestly be the hardest thing to land cleanly from. Minoru wasn't a cat. He didn't have some near-mystical righting reflex.
no subject
"So, head first is better? I don't want you injuring yourself. Oh, or---maybe feet first sounds better. Yes, feet first. Ok."
The Finn nodded and wanted to make sure Minoru landed safely and on his feet and not uh---on his head.
"Here goes. Are you ready?"
Niko grabbed Minoru around the waist, lifting him up so that he could get his feet in front of him, ready to be thrown out of the window.
no subject
Fortunately, Niko was a good five inches taller than Minoru, so he really was being carried, and not just dragged, toward the window. Hopefully, he'd get a good throw and not just a good drop.
"Ready!"
no subject
Niko made sure he held Minoru firmly and that there wasn't any danger of fumbling the window throw. Oh, don't worry, Minoru was being carried and this helped with Niko being 6'2" and athletic, albeit his ankle injury.
"Go, go, Minoru!"
The Finn used his upper body strength to launch Minoru through the window and out into the cool air outside.

After he landed, he'd think about how it didn't really create as much momentum as he would have expected - far less than jumping off of a moving swingset, for example. But for the few seconds he was airborne, Minoru wasn't thinking at all. Just living.
His knees bent as he touched down in the snow, absorbing most of the impact. he didn't have enough momentum built up to roll forward, so he fell back, slapping his arms into the snowdrift. White powder scattered, and he laid there for a second.
Before promptly making a snow angel. Because, why not.
And laughing.
no subject
"Minoru? Are you ok?"
He could see Minoru laying on the snow, slapping his arms and making a snow angel. He was ok! The Finn breathed out a sigh of relief because---you know. This was something new!
"Having fun down there?"
no subject
He could definitely scratch out 'thrown out of second story window' from his parkour bucket list.
no subject
Niko felt a little sad that he couldn't jump out of the window and join Minoru down in the soft snow making snow angels. Still, it had been fun throwing his friend out of the window.
"What are you wanting to try next? I could help with that too!"
no subject
"I bet if two people did the throwing together, I'd go father!" He shouted as he pointed into the snow.
no subject
Niko thought it was a cool idea and would ask Erik as soon as he saw the Swede. How far could Minoru jump?
"Did you want another go now or is this for another time?"
no subject
He was definitely willing to go another round. But he'd take a rain check if Erik wasn't. It was no big deal either way.
no subject
The same window? Or, would Minoru prefer something a little higher? Whatever it was, Niko was up for it and no doubt Erik would be too. Where was he? Practicing guitar, painting or out fishing with Devon? Hopefully not the latter.
"I'll go and find Erik!"
no subject
He hurried back to the balconies and quickly climbed back up to his own. For safety's sake, it was probably a good idea to stick with the second floor. That, and unlike the bands, he didn't have access to any of the other apartments in this complex, just the one he and his brother were renting.

A few minutes later and Erik was walking with Niko up the stairs, helping the Finn on his crutches to the window where Minoru would be.
"Minoru? I'm here with Niko! You need help getting thrown out of the window?"
Niko giggling because this would be fun.
no subject
He rushed to open the door, gesturing them both back to his room on the right side of the apartment.
"Oh, this is gonna be great."
no subject
Erik now peeking out of the window to see said snow angel. What a jump though! The Swede stared at the Finn and nodded, knowing they'd have to work together to give Minoru the boost he needed.
"How did you want to be thrown? Maybe I could stand next to Niko, holding a leg so we both get equal sides of you."
Niko thought Erik's plan was a good one.
no subject
"Okay... so, what if you guys act like a swing set." He gestured with his arms like how a normal swing moves. "One set of hands on my lower back, one set right up under my legs, kinda feet first toss, but with more momentum. Like jumping out of a swing!"
That, he thought, should work. It was a better option than, say, swinging him out by the arms and legs or trying to throw him like a bellyflopping football.
no subject
"I think I get it now. Ok, Erik, shall we?"
Erik placed his hands on Minoru's lower back while Niko felt for the underside of the parkourist's legs. This would surely work, wouldn't it? What could go wrong? Niko knew he couldn't move much with his feet, but then he was using his arms and back so it wasn't so bad.
"Are you ready, Minoru?"
no subject
It turned out to be a good idea, seeing as the first attempt nearly flipped him on his back, which would have made for a really bad landing. "Don't let me tip back so much on the throw. I don't think I'll get enough momentum to flip."
No, he needed to go feet first. He'd probably still end up breakfalling backwards in the landing, but his legs had multiple places that could bend and absorb the impact. His neck, not so much.

Aarne had already jumped out the window and was down below staring up at Joe and waiting for the Brit to join him. There were others up there too. Ollie was standing in the lot and ready to run up to jump himself. He had done this in a job once before.
no subject
"Ok, here goes!"
The bassist launched himself out of the window and screamed even louder because he could feel the wind against his face before he landed on the soft bouncy castle. Joe rolled a few times before coming to a stop at the side of the castle wall.
"That was---fucking amazing!"
