Hello, and welcome to The Care and Keeping of Your Pet! As you surely know, a pet is a big responsibility, and we're so glad you've decided to be a concientious master. A safe pet is a happy pet, and this handbook is certain to keep your precious lifelong friend as content as can be.
The history of the animal person is a long and difficult one, with their origins not being known even to this day. However, scientists believe that despite our common appearance - most animal people have humanoid forms except for the ears, tails, and sometimes teeth - we share no common ancestry, even if the ascent of this species corresponds with that of the homo sapien. We gained dominance over each breed thousands of years ago, beginning with the dog type, who have long been considered "man's best friend." Most breeds these days are docile and perfect for owners of any speed.
Of course, it is our duty as the superior species to take care of these animal creatures, and this is inherent in their genetic makeup. Everyone knows that an animal person, when matched with their correct human master, is loyal for life - a true "soulmate," if you will. Far be it for us to turn this away! Ever since the Great Domestication, these intelligent and loving animals have served us as friends, workmates, guardians, servants, and sexual companions and will for years to come. Despite recent hubbub from so-called "Pet People's Rights Activists," this way of life is wholesome and good. Scientific research shows that the natural desire of the pet person is to be owned and cared for by a human.
So, it's your first pet. What do you need to know?
 As previously stated, pet people come in as many breeds as you can possibly think of. By far and away the most popular are the dog and cat types, but exotic birds and lizards have been gaining popularity among trendsetters from L.A. to Tokyo!
All pet types are best suited for certain jobs, and when hunting for one, it is best to search for a type that suits your needs best.
However, a "True Match" - when a pet person bonds with you and only you for the rest of their natural lives - comes naturally, and sometimes takes time before you can find the pet you will be able to give a forever home to.
According to all current research, pet people are completely sentient and like us in many ways. However, it is important to remember that they have many animalistic and feral characteristics. Do not be foolish and think that your pet is a person, despite the facts that many are clothed and may be allowed to read, write, and have "hobbies." Some traditional pet owners may eschew these frivolities, and that is within their right.
Pet people age more quickly than humans, at least physically, and many types have long lifespans. It is not uncommon for pets to be passed through the family. When getting your child their first pet, it's important to keep in mind that just because the pup is tiny now, a grown pet can be jumpy around a small child.
It is important to train a pet. Discipline will be necessary. This does not make you a bad owner. Failure to train early will result in a rebellious pet. Training is especially important if you want your pet to serve as a household servant.
Remember, your pet will be extremely protective of you, especially if you are Truly Bonded. It is best to socialize them early. A socialized pet is a perfect family pet.
These days, unowned and unbonded pet people are allowed to live as strays or "Frees" in certain designated areas. Some even hold "jobs." This is against their best interest, and owners who adopt these strays are to be rewarded. Still, the best place to get pets are from liscenced kennels or breeders.
Some masters find it beneficial to participate in activities with their pets, such as shows and other competitions.
Finally, much has been made about the sexual relationship between pet and master. This is a normal facet of the bond, and humans are sure to find pet people sexually alluring. But beyond that, it is only responsible and prudent for owners to care for their pet's needs. It is a well-known fact that the libidos of pet people are remarkably strong, and when they go into heat, it is usually more convenient for a master to relieve them. There is no risk of pregnancy. All rumors of hybrids are urban legends.
Despite this, masters must remember to not view their pets as romantic partners. Humans should stay with humans.

Anyway, since they're here now, his pet might as well get ready to win some pet contests to earn its keep.
As pet: A fox. (Either a Nogitsune or a polar fox whose animal bits turn black or white depending on the season.) An extremely skilled high-class pet that comes with the loaded history of having killed either another pet or even a human before. He demands all the attention, doesn't play nice with other pets and loathes having the ruined parts of his face exposed. Will most likely try to take over as the master of the house if he's let.

a more out of the box option: she is neither a pet or a master; instead, she is an ordinary human who works with pets in the acting industry- she's a famous child actress who soon outgrew the 'child' part, so a lot of the roles she's been getting have been a little more... not so great. sometimes she'd work with pets whose owners have decided to have them in the industry as well, or sometimes she'd work with pets in order to imitate them for a role.
the other option here is that kana herself is a pet- a red panda. she used to have a loving, doting master who thought she was cute but then she got Too Old for her master's tastes and was basically abandoned. she still continues to try and do her best as a pet, but nobody wants to pay any mind or notice; after all, people don't care for red pandas. they'd much prefer dogs, cats, or rabbit-based pets.

I'm thinking he had a close but unhealthy relationship with his previous owner that resulted in him getting sold off or given to an acquaintance, who's a lot more indifferent and mostly just using the acting career to try to make some money off his looks.
Since he already has mixed animal features, I'd be fine with either saying his species is an exotic one but not really different from keeping something like a tiger, or make him something more unique like a rare hybrid, ancient species revival ala Jurassic Park, or what have you ]

and third is the standard pet option. she would be a cat- bred and born of wealth but soon had to take care of herself when her former master died. she's been living a decent life without a master thus far, but that can all change...

background-wise- nobody really knows where stelle came from. she was just a stray that was picked up one day. she doesn't have any memories from before she was found. however, there's a strange power about her that's different from other pets.
if her new owner tries to dig deeper, they'll eventually find out that stelle isn't a real pet at all. she was something that was created, not birthed. manufactured to be a pet to store a core power- nothing more, nothing less. she was left by her original owner because that was just "what was written in the cards"; her destiny.
generally a good pet, although she might be a bit goofy and a shitposter, but it's fine. she's also a good bodyguard, protective, and good at handling missions that are given to her.

as an owner, he's the type to put his pet first. doting, sweet, caring, and likely easily manipulated if the pet he takes in or adopts is the type for it.
as a pet, he's a lion with a very similar personality. a good comfort pet. could be that he was adopted as a stray or rescued from some unsavory situation he ended up in.

Mishal is a good soldier, and an even better weapon. He follows orders to the letter, and when his orders are to kill, he kills, ruthlessly. He takes lives as an Inferni as often as he saves them as a Heartrender. But he’s not a heartless monster, and when, on patrol one night, he finds the Stray, sick, dirty, and barely conscious, he hesitates. She’s too well bred, exotic, and expensive not to have a Master somewhere, and it makes no sense for her to end up abandoned on the streets… unless that Master had something to do with it in the first place.
He takes her home, feeds her, and nurses her back to health, strong gentle hands on her skin lending her strength, but he doesn’t touch her any more than he needs to heal her. She doesn’t trust him, and he doesn’t blame her. There’s something in her eyes that he’s all too familiar with - it’s the same thing he’s seen in the mirror so many times looking back at him. Someone has hurt her.
“Genya…” He steps into his quarters and hesitates, calling out to her. “I won’t force you, but if you’d like to take a bath, I’m going there now. Will you come with me?”

Genya had once been a plaything for the King. Not officially owned, no, never. She's a toy for him and his own amusement. The Queen uses her talents to keep her tits firm and her skin smooth, but the King uses her for his dark pleasure. He uses and abuses her until he finally gets bored of her. She's discarded and abandoned. No one is allowed to claim her. Not without crossing the King.
By the time, Mishal finds her, she's weak and near delirious. She's in her between forms, not fully woman, not fully fox. The fur of her tail and ears are dirty and matted. Her glossy hair is dull and tangled. She barely registers he man that takes her in. He heals her pains. It feels easier to take a deep breath. Her stomach craves the food he feeds her, but she can only eat a little before she feels nauseous. It's then when she gains more clarity.
She watches his warily. He's bestowed her such kindness, but what does he expect in return? Her tail twitches, flicking back and both. She doesn't answer him verbally. Slowly, she pushes up to stand on fawn like legs. She doesn't trust him, but she hates being dirty. He's gotten her this far. She could do with a bath before it all comes crumbling down around her.
She stumbles a little towards his quarters. Her hands reach for something, anything to steady herself, and she finds him.

Mishal catches her by the arms, and holds her steady in a firm grip. He wouldn’t hold her against her will if she pulls away, but he’s not willing to let her fall either.
“I’ll get you there, but you have to trust me to get you that far.”
His brow creases in concern as he looks down at her, frowning. He’s never owned a Pet before. It’s not common where he’s from, and treating her like a possession doesn’t sit well with him. The situation with the King wouldn’t sit well with him either, but fortunately for everyone involved, he hadn’t lived in this land long enough, nor was he important enough to know anything about court politics.
“Will you let me carry you?”
It’s not a long walk, but it might seem like one for her.

Even with her healing, she's still delicate and weak. She's more like kitten than fox against him. She gives a little nod and lets him carry him. A bath first. Then she can better assess her situation.
She's not sure what he wants from her, but she has a feeling that she'll find out soon enough.

As the Owner, Cor would've gotten a pet thru three means: 1) He was gifted one by a dear friend, 2) He had to get a theray pet per doctor's orders, and 3) He took in a Stray/Free to help keep them out of the Pound/Shelter. In any case, he will be a Strict Yet Fair owner who becomes a Softie once he warms up to his pet. His status and cooking ss means that his Pet will not want for any basics, and he'll always make it up for them anytime he had to go away due to a mission.
As the Pet, Cor can be some kind of canine, feline, or a more mystical/monstrous creature. He is ideal as a Guard Pet or a Family Pet - maybe both, if he was originally gifted as a Pet to someone when they were younger. He is Loyal to a Fault to his Master(s), and can grow possessive if someone he doesn't know or trust tries to be with said Master(s). But while he's Stoic in public, he is Quiet Yet Warm to his Master(s) in private. Very likely to dominate weaker Masters, however...))
