[ Kaneki has never been to a bonfire. He is a bit of an antisocial person and has a hard time around strangers, but ultimately Kaneki doesn't have a lot of friends who'd bring him to one. When Bandou invited him it was a surprise - Kaneki didn't think he was interesting enough to be invited to something like this.

But he can't say no. Because he is also excited about it.

Not about the people, but about Bandou and the fact that he invited him to do something together.

At the bonfire, naturally, Kaneki is a bit of a wallflower in a sense. He is quiet, sitting in front of the fire, while refusing any kind of drink and food offered to him - it's probably strange, he is aware. But Kaneki can't have any of that any more, so he just offers silly excuses "my stomach is a bit upset" or "I'm not good with alcohol" or even "I'm still under 21".

But he also doesn't leave Bandou's side - unless Bandou leaves him - since that's the person he knows after all. When there isn't a lot of commotion around them, finally Kaneki speaks ]

Thank you for bringing me, Bandou-san. [ it may look like kaneki is awkward and not having fun, but he actually is. He is enjoying the fire and the people having fun, and he is enjoying the night and the energy, even if Kaneki is quiet himself ]
