The HOLY GRAIL WAR Meme

Seven Masters, magi of the present day. Seven Servants, heroes of days past.
One Holy Grail, granting whomever claims it a wish. Only one team of Master and Servant may claim it.
Who will it be?
For those unfamiliar with Fate/Stay Night or Fate/Zero, you can find a better explanation of the Holy Grail War here. (Note: The Holy Grail War in Fate/EXTRA functions in a dramatically different way, and one not followed for purposes of this meme.)

Instructions
1. Comment with your character. In the subject line, put that character's name, canon, and which role (Master, Servant, or either) you would like them to fulfill. Add other preferences if you would like. (NOTE: If your character can fill the role of Servant, I suggest you state which class(es) -- Saber, Lancer, Archer, Rider, Caster, Assassin, or Berserker -- they fall into.)
2. Reply to others' comments. Pick your character's role (and the other character's if they list "Either" as their preference), then use the RNG to pick a scenario that fits the two characters' roles.
3. Enjoy! Though there might be triggers, depending on how the prompts are interpreted.


TWO MASTERS

1. Battle. Who says that Servants get to have all the fun? After all, most Masters try to kill each other, too. Whatever the circumstances, the two of you are locked in a fight. Neither of you are willing to use your Command Spells just yet, so no Servants here. Just two magi duking it out.

2. Alliance. There's a bigger threat out there. Either one Servant is exceptionally powerful, or the situation has changed and the participants need to take action aginst it. One way or another, you're teamed up with one of your rivals for the Holy Grail. How long will this last before you try to stab each other in the back? Or, will something more develop?

3. Protection. Uh-oh! One of you has lost your Servant! Unfortunately, there's no way you'd get to the church safely on your own, so the other one will help you get there! Or maybe you don't trust the priest presiding over the Holy Grail War and are giving shelter to them yourself? Given their track record, no one would blame you.

4. Death. One or both of you lay dying. It might have been by the other's hand, or by someone else's entirely. How will you spend your last moments in the presence of one of your rivals?

5. You, Too? Surprise! You may have been friends before, but you've just discovered that you're both Masters! How will you handle this revelation?

6. Wild Card. Roll again, pick one of the previous options, or make one up!


MASTER AND SERVANT

1. Are You My Master? The summoning is complete. Whether intentional or not, catalyst or not, a magus has summoned a Servant. What kind of meeting was it? Was everything totally under control, or did a hitch occur? Or maybe it happened in the middle of a life-or-death situation!

2. Identity. Either the Servant has flat out told the Master their identity, or they unleashed their Noble Phantasm. Either way, the cat is out of the bag. How will the Master react, now that they know their Servant's name and legend? Will anything change between the two?

3. Battle Aftermath. A battle has just ended. Who participated? Are either of you hurt? Did the Master have to use a Command Spell? Any number of things could have happened here.

4. Discord. Uh-oh. It looks like the Master and the Servant don't get along. Here come the arguments! Don't do something stupid, like waste a Command Spell over a triviality...

5. Love. And then, there's the opposite. Sometimes Masters and Servants fall in love with each other. How will this affect things?

6. Wild Card. Roll again, pick one of the previous options, or make one up!


TWO SERVANTS

1. Battle. This is what usually happens when two Servants meet -- they duke it out. This probably says enough as it is.

2. Alliance. There's a bigger threat out there. Either one Servant is exceptionally powerful, or the situation has changed and the participants need to take action against it. One way or another, you're teamed up with one of your rivals for the Holy Grail. How long will this last before you try to stab each other in the back? Or, will something more develop?

3. The Grail Dialogues. Maybe you're not interested in fighting just yet. Maybe you just want to sit down and talk with the other Servant. Find out what they want, what makes them tick. Get some wine while you're at it -- nothing like good wine to go with good talk!

4. Death. One or both of you lay dying...again. It might have been by the other's hand, or by someone else's entirely. How will you spend your last moments in this War in the presence of one of your rivals?

5. Identity. Congratulations, you've just learned each other's identities! Will this change the situation, or will you press onward?

6. Wild Card. Roll again, pick one of the previous options, or make one up!

AU'd into having a connection with the nymph Aetna, which is what the volcano (and by extension, her) is named after, which has connections to both Greek mythology and (for some reason) Arthurian mythology. Will be the cranky cool big sister who likes to bully, no matter who her Master is.]

( master that was trained from birth to be the "perfect magus" and participate and win the holy grail war to the point where she just acts like a good girl... but because of that, she's actually very lost, identity-wise.

because of this, she was very likely to have been given a proper catalyst in order to summon the best servant. however, if you want there to have been some sort of mixup or another for some reason, that's totally fine!

open to both master and servant scenarios as well as master and master. ask first before shipping or mana transfer stuff. )

Two Masters; 6

[Everything just feels so. Much. Kanade knew the other Knight classes were tough, but the clash with Saber and their master... it had taken all that she had to stay on her feet, to keep running even as her body screamed at her from the exertion. Archer was in peak form though, golden arrows lighting up the battlefield like flash bombs as he kept Saber moving and away from the Masters, giving Caster time to get her own attacks in. The battle had been in their favor, if only slightly.

But Saber's Master was as slippery as their Servant. In the chaos of the fight, with attention focused on the Servants, none had seen the shadow looming behind Mafuyu. But a glint had caught Kanade's eye, a reflection of one of Archer's divine arrows off of something-

Everything passed in a blur after that. Her feet moving before her brain did. The solid thump as she collided with Mafuyu and shoved her to the side. Tearing, burning pain as the enemy Master's blade sunk into her shoulder and dragged down.

Another flash, as bright as the sun. Arms hauling her up as Archer and Caster retreated with their Masters in tow. And through it all, the feeling her shirt and jersey growing wet, the scent of iron filling her nose-]

Ghhhh....

[When her head finally stops spinning, Kanade barely recognizes her own empty house. Their Servants brought them back, to safety, and it's here that Kanade shivers and slumps against the wall, clutching her injured shoulder.]

Mafuyu... a-are you okay...?

[Even with blood soaking through her shirt and jersey, even with her already pale skin going a sickly paper white, it's the first thought that crosses Kanade's mind.]

( as a master, she's actually someone who was born and raised as an Ordinary Human with no magical capacity at all until she was saved by a magi. said magi made her want to learn magic and... here she is. she wants to be a magus that saves others, very different from what you'd expect from the society, so she wants to stop the war without having to kill others.

as a servant, she's... strangely, a caster. she looks like an ordinary girl, but can transform into the hero that's been written down in legends: cure sky. her main noble phantasm attack is utilizing her sky punch attack, which can wreck someone but also purify them, as she would not have access to her other finishers which require the other members of her group.

i'd like shipping to be within her age range: she's canonically 14. and absolutely no r18 mana transfer, please. we'll go with a Mana Dolphins equivalent, thank you. :> )

[Going with either Servant (either as Romani or Solomon) or just being the friendly Heal Station supporter for all Masters and Servants for this one. For the Servant route, either canon compliant or being a Servant whose Master was killed and you've had the chance to adopt into your own team would be interesting for me (--> Solomon equals the BFG option, will you take him? or stay around and talk until he disintegrates?). For the non-participating Healer route something more playing more into the psychological like him being a previous participant who didn't win but somehow managed to survive could be fun. Or just hit me up with your own ideas, I'm always happy to plot! o/]

house is empty during the hgw, as after the summoning the family packed their bags and left to go to england.

she's a very good magus, but she's lacking in a lot of ways- she didn't inherit her family's magic circuits or crest, as that went to the eldest brother.

in terms of summoning, she either prepared a catalyst or summoned someone by sheer accident. ask first before any shipping or mana transfer stuff. )

he has several noble phantasms, but his main one, "there is only one truth" allows him to illuminate the truth of something or someone - similarly to sherlock holmes' noble phantasm.

one of his noble phantasms also allows him to actually return to his true form temporarily as well.

in terms of summoning, i'm willing to either play him as "someone who existed at some point in time" or alternatively the fictional route, where he is able to be summoned due to being a prominent figure in detective fiction.

he can be a master as well- but an accidental one. magic is so far back in his bloodline that none of his immediate family knows about it, much less is aware of it. in fact, he doesn't believe in it in the slightest! his wish is to turn himself back into shinichi kudo and defeat the black organization that ruined the lives of many, including himself. )

Hakurei is used to dealing with people who both look younger than they actually are and who tend to be too smart for their own goods (though Conan has way better manners than her usual suspect), so it could be fun? So Bea assembles a team to investigate and to kick some alien ass. Bea is a little spacey and weird, enjoys a good fight, and drawing cartoons in her downtime. Once authored a wacky comic a la Axe Cop.

For this meme she is gonna be a Servant, and defaults as a Berserker. Can be a Rider with the ability to summon a starship for air strikes, Lancer using Zeus' thunderbolt, or Archer with Indra's bow. Foreigner is good option too. Fine with any scenario. OTA genders for shipping but she is more receptive to F/F. ]

Is willing to get along with his Master as long as they're not actively harming others for their own amusement, but is also very reluctant to fight other Servants to the death and definitely has to be convinced that it's the only way to get ahead in this war. He'd still want to talk things out with other Servants first, though.
