It's no surprise that the bakery is out of his favorite sandwich at this hour. Closing time is just around the corner and they're sold out of a lot of items. Nanami makes his purchase, a nice brioche bun to make his own sandwich when he gets home, and leaves. As he walks to the train station, he finds himself drifting off in thought. Does he need to stop at another store to grab some deli meat to put on his sandwich, or does he have something in his fridge?
While he's lost in those thoughts, he stops paying attention to his surroundings, missing the figure tucked into the shadows waiting for the perfect mark.

There was something thrilling about stalking unsuspecting humans. The way their bodies sometimes seem to know that something is about to happen. That something just isn't right. All animals had it, some more so than others. Getou-san was such a smart guy, he'd say it was their parasympathetic nervous system reacting- But Mahito always preferred the saying 'Fight or Flight' it just sounded way more exciting.
That's exactly what he was looking for now, in the unsuspecting humans littering the platform with their stupid natural bodies, untampered with and utterly boring. At first, he almost settled in on a young lady entranced by some mind-numbing match-three mobile game on her cell phone. She flinched when she passed the nook he was hiding in and it would have been oh so easy to just reach out and touch her face, change her into something more suited to her all-consuming, vacuous soul. But no.
Instead, Mahito waited until a well-dressed man stopped near the wall off to the side of his hiding place. The urge to simply transmutate and rearrange his soul soon dissolved, and instead Mahito felt an almost primordial urge grow outwards from the pit of his stomach. Like a twisting mangrove root in festering waters, this urge was darker... Fear. That's the emotion he wished to gift this man, after all, it's what he was deep down to his core, wasn't it?
Shifting ever so slightly, so that his movement might be spotted in the man's peripheral vision. He was fast too, blink and you'd miss him. Just the ends of his ponytails caught the light as he shifted from one shadowed corner to another, an eerie little chuckle echoing through the ever-darkening platform. The lights flickered before blacking out.

Over the last few years since he left the school, Nanami has spent most of his time suppressing his cursed energy. It was easier to avoid drawing the attention of curses that way. He hadn't fought any of the low level ones he's seen, but this wasn't low level. At least a grade one, possibly higher. Still within his ability to fight.
He starts moving when the lights flicker out, heading away from the platform back out onto the street. Nanami thinks the curse is following him, but he can't check without making it obvious he's aware, especially lacking any concealing eyewear. Picking up his pace, he finds an alleyway to dip into. Those people will be screwed if he was wrong about the curse following him.
