The Age of Hyboria Meme

The Age of Hyboria AU
The Age of Hyboria was marked with barbarism, slavery and general nastiness. Only the strong or cunning typically survived here, this was no time for the slow or the weak. And so it was, that your character has found themselves born to this harsh world. Perhaps they seek to make a name for themselves, or perhaps they are just attempting to survive. Either way this is a time of adventure, promise, romance, wealth and opportunity. Well, for those who are willing to go the extra mile and snag them.
The only question left to ask is, what will you be? A hulking barbarian hailing from Cimmeria or a cunning mage from Stygia? Or perhaps you're a knight or soldier belonging to the kingdom of Aquilonia?
Either way how this works is as follows:
A: Go ahead and post your character, canon and preferences.
B: Comment around, the only way to get things started is to talk to everyone.
C: Choose a prompt, or just wing it! Either way, have fun. As a side note, the prompts below are only meant to be suggestions on getting started. Following in the spirit of the original world created by Robert E. Howard, I would recommend branching out and doing your own thing.
Origins - Your background
1) Cimmerian- The Cimmerians are a proud, tribal people who inhabit the lands north of Aquilonia. Birthlands of the mighty Conan, as a Cimmerian you have grown up in harsh and primitive conditions. Readying you for most of what the world may be capable of throwing your way.
2) Aquilonian- Sitting in the middle of their barbarian neighbors, the Aquilonians are a markedly civilized people, as well as the most powerful of the kingdoms. To be an Aquilonian is to come from the height of Hyborian civilization.
3) Khitan- Hailing from the Empire of Khitai, they are an old empire most famous for their wizards. Not much is known about them by outsiders, as their lands have been closed off by a great wall.
4)Stygian- Many Stygians are devout worshippers of Set, the dark and evil serpent god. Highly fanatical, many willing sacrifice themselves in an effort to appease their god. Despite this, Stygians have proven to be shrewd merchants, and equally powerful sorcerers and priests.
5) Slave- You are, or were, a slave. Nothing much has to be said here, who cares where you hail from or who killed who? No one, not when you're currently serving a master, or have just been released from bondage. Either way, the world is still open, even to thralls.
6) Ruler or nobility: Or perhaps you are a high lord or dame, seeking for high adventure or caught up in ruling. These lands are filled with small, forgotten kingdoms and fiefdoms. As well as peppered with varying warlords looking to both terrorize and make their mark. Are you one of them? Do wear a crown of iron or perhaps a laurel leaf?
6) Wildcard/Unknown- No one really knows where you came from, perhaps you don't know either. All you know is a will to survive, and perhaps, make a name for yourself in these times of adventure.
Setting
1) Tavern- What better place to start your adventure and meet new people, than the local tavern?
2) Wilderness- Perhaps you were traversing through the woods, or along a road. But either way you are tired and wish to find a town or city.
3) City- Speaking of cities, you're in one right now. Either scouting out for work, or finishing a job.
4) Ruins- Old ruins left behind by long forgotten civilizations often hold valuable treasures in them. As well as curses and traps.
5) Arena- Maybe you were captured for the entertainment of someone lordly, or for the masses. Either way, both of you must now work together in order to survive these savage games.
6) Village- Well, not everything is shiny cities, or bustling markets. Some places are just spots of land that people work. Still, if you can get past the smell, you could have an enjoyable stay, and perhaps a spot of adventure.
7) Tower of Doom- You've traced the big bad back to his hideout, and are now ready to strike the deadly blow. That, or it could just be your home away from home.
