Blade-san

[ Blood on her tongue, the rest of her words barely held back because they're in public. The eyes of the world as they record everything—right here, she is not Marina Ismail but the Princess of Azadistan.

And he was supposed to be—

something.

But the comm in her hand flashed a quick message of warning: he is lying, he's there to kill you.

Marina fixes a smile that is clearly fake; Blade can tell. She needs to leave but can't run, stays next to him caught between him and the cameras and reporters and she needs to

leave. ] Can we go?

(He did seem to quirk a brow.

At this point he was escorting her, the job and script was supposed to be simple in nature or so Elio said. Something that could be tipped either way and it all lies on him where he must come to a decision as time goes on.

If he kills her, then things fall to ruin as was said.

If she lives, there was a chance or so it seemed even as he looks her over in silent consideration at her question; he should take her back. Or that's what he believes for the time being, he isn't the most vocal of men nor the most chatty and friendly but he did seem to have her best interests in mind enough.

He's insightful with these things. Her fake smile as the crowd seems to be more focused on finding something or other; his mask makes it difficult to tell it's him nor did they hear his name coming off her lips before he decides he should do this much.

Take her back, consider his next move since it looked as if things would get too dangerous for him to throwing himself at whatever might occur for the time being.)

[ Hummingbird pulse, Marina tips her head towards the crowd. ] Thank you everyone for coming out here today and supporting Azadistan's Solar Program.

[ And then she is moving, avoiding any accidental brushes against Blade as she leaves the stage behind for the backrooms. The curtain falls silently behind them, the lights are gone and the sound muffled.

It does nothing for her heartbeat. Should she run? Is that too obvious that she knows? What should she do?

A side glance, and she tries to soften the edges of her smile, conjuring up something closer to her usual self. ]

(The silent curtain falls, as of now he notices her nervousness which causes him to frown. Even as he follows behind her, he can tell that something is amiss. That's a detail most never expect of him. Blade may be silent often times, glaring and not the easiest to speak with but he is observant enough to notice when something seems like it isn't right. To the point he starts to wonder what came up.

He doesn't press about it, though he remembers there was something Elio mentioned. That he would need to work to keep and earn that trust of hers; especially at a certain point whenever he instead falls in line behind her at a distance. There is no move to draw his sword like she fears but he stares on as the crimson of his eyes stays focused on her in consideration as to what to do.

He still is her guard no matter what is going on even if he can also double as an executioner were it to go that way. But for now, he does not seek to be the one to kill her. What good would that do? Not much of it given he has a small idea on how to maintain his sanity until he was required to see Kafka again.)

I am still your guard, ma'am, I cannot do that.

(The deep rasp of his voice is soft within the grit of it, but he is serious. He would rather not risk anything were something to happen although he decides he can do something.)

[ Marina stares at Blade, eyes a little wide, wet and wounded--his words had hurt her, but not because they had been against her. She hurts for him, for his struggles, for his pain. That's simply the type of person she is, busy caring about others above herself. ] I am not worried about any mental lapses. [ No, she has never restrained Blade nor asked him to, because she trusts him.

Or trusted him.

Even so, she wouldn't ask or do such a thing to him. If Blade is going to kill her, then that is going to be his decision--Marina will try to avoid her fate if it comes to that but she will not go against her principles and do something to hurt him. ]

(Someone felt hurt for him? He can tell by that look in her eyes she seemed hurt. But why? He knows not why she gives him this courtesy, he who has sinned far beyond others in life as he looks upon her. There is no reason she should. It was as mentioned before, as a weapon he was meant to be thrown away and discarded once she was ready to. He held no reason to stop her if she wished to do just that and yet a part of him is more surprised she could feel this sort of emotion with him.) ....it's a fair warning. (He did after all give her such a choice if she felt need of it whenever he sighs moments later. Blade really did wonder just what she could be thinking in that head of hers.

Perhaps in a moment as much as he can be guardian and executioner, the old him comes about. There were no words to describe him. None. Arrogance, he was arrogant and he suffered for it.

He was driven by grief, revenge too. All of his life revolved around it as memories in faint glimpses hung about his mind. His fractured mind of a smile long lost, of people once drinking together with him as he aged whilst they looked the same. His hair white and his expression soft as ever in happiness before it fades to nothing.

He was not Yingxing, he was not that man any longer. He was not Ren any longer, either.

With her question the smile near seems a little humorless; because he knows he cannot answer that the way she might wish. Instead he felt it best to give her the facts, that which he knows to be true as he pushes back the faint fractured moments of happiness he once held close to his heart as that arrogant and prideful man he once was.)

A nameless man, a weapon, Blade and that is that.

[ To him there is no reason she should but Marina would offer the same to any aching being on her path. They have spent countless hours together, for someone of Marina's temperament, it is only natural that they have become close. Familiar with each other sharing the same space: from gestures to words, to glances.

There is not much she can to do shy away and hide her feelings when the countless hours Blade has spent with her made Marina an easy read.

Marina falls silent at that declaration. That's not a lie, she's certain.

And who...who have you been pretending to be?

(Pretending.

As an actor in a way, he does pretend. The role given to him as always was something that suits his need for violence and the blood shed from that urge; he doesn't know truthfully how to respond at first. They were pretending for the sake of her safety in that regard and yet it is difficult to answer that.

With how long it's been, he's had ample time to get used to her presence and it did essentially start to act as something soothing. Maybe not as good as Kafka's spirit whisper, but it was enough to put his mind at ease.

Though he does notice. Does it really hurt, can someone truly feel pain for a man like him who found and felt he was far too tired for this world and living? He does not know, he only knows that he wishes her tears were spent on someone more worth it than him.)

....are you worried about something? I've said before, as a dead man that I have no reason to use you.

(Maybe in the sense of him still blending in like a person, but he never was one to lie much about such things. Even if he feels this is more a sweet lie to himself that he can still be alive. That he can still be what once was someone with his own wants and whims.)
