THE HEAD PATTING MEME

You want to show some affection to or calm down your significant other, crush, person who has a crush on you, smaller friend, random cute person, or random cute younger person, but the regular shows of emotion like hugs or kisses just won't do. So reach out, push their hair back, and give them a pat on the head. Which, by the way, can be surprisingly comforting when done the right way, I.E., not awkwardly. Or maybe you're the one getting the head pat. Are you embarrassed? Freaking out because ohmigosh they noticed you? Calmed from your freakout? Enjoying the gesture from your significant other? ...just don't punch them if you don't like it. They're trying.

[It was rare, even at the end of the world, for Tomie to care about anyone other than herself. However, Emil was an exception. He had no romantic interest in her, and was immune to her charms. Despite that, or maybe because of it, he had always done right by her.

So, she pats the top of his strange head. Tomie could entirely destroy his self-esteem, even now the insults she could use rose to her mind, but for once she didn't want to. Instead, she smiled and said.]

[ Considering all he's done, Emil rarely sees a reason to judge anyone else for whatever they may do. That does make it easy for him to simply treat people as they treat him, which firmly sets Tomie in the 'friend' category.

He also very, very much likes getting headpats. He knows he scares a lot of people, so it doesn't happen often. He'd never ask, anyway, fairly certain he doesn't actually deserve it. So it's like a little guilty pleasure, and he's incredibly happy right now, trying very hard not to bounce too much and make it too difficult to reach his head. ]

Huh? I don't think you're evil. Who said so?

[Even if he did bounce around, it'd be okay, and she'd still try her best. She even strokes the side of his face.]

Mmh, back when humans were around, I hurt a lot of people on purpose. It was for my own survival, for the most part, but I'm a lot nicer to you than I was back then.

[ Emil has never been asked to pat someone's head, but he's very happy to do so, quick to float up to a proper enough height to be able to reach out and pet the Swede's head with his bony little hand. ]
