THE ALPHA/BETA/OMEGA MEME


In our world, sexual roles are commonly defined by genders -- male or female or other, by sexualities -- gay or straight, bi or asexual or in-between. But what if they were defined by something else entirely?

Alpha/Beta/Omegaverse is a fusion of fanfiction tropes and animalistic behavior. In this world, sexual roles are divided into three categories: the Alphas (the dominant, the protective and the aggressive), the Betas (ordinary humans) and the Omegas (submissive, fertile and able to carry children).

ROLES:
1 - The Alpha.
* Stereotypically type A personalities.
* Anatomically: Males have a penis; females may have a penis in addition to a vagina.
* Alphas knot their mates, meaning that the base of the penis swells and locks them inside their mate while they produce copious amounts of semen in an effort to breed.
* Strong sense of smell.
* Near an Omega in heat, they experience a compulsion to mate that is almost impossible to overcome.
* Alphas may go into rut, which is their equivalent of Omega heat, and drives them to mate.

2 - The Beta.
* Ordinary human being.
* Males have penises; females have vaginas.
* Can mate to anyone.
* Might be able to smell hormones of Omegas and Alphas, but will not be overwhelmingly affected by them.

3 - The Omega.
* Stereotypically submissive, quiet, intelligent and less physically able.
* Female anatomy is similar to Betas; males are self-lubricating and may have either an external or internal vaginal setup.
* Regularly go into heat, which involves being overcome by the urge to mate. They are unable to consent while in heat.
* May be made compliant by a bite to the neck. However, that may also induce a mating bond.
* Often regarded as second-class citizens or prizes to be won.

SITUATIONS:
1 - Bonding - Love at first sight. You've spotted your soulmate. You can smell them, you can feel them, you know that they'll be with you until the end of your days. Unless there's something between the two of you. It could be age - maybe one of you has to wait until the other has reached maturity. It could be that the bond is one-sided, and the other has yet to fall in love. It could be an unwanted bond, or society could have divided you into different places. Is your love strong enough to conquer?

2 - Heat/Rut - The need is coming on you strong. Everyone for a half-mile around can smell it. Better find someone to ride it out with, or hole yourself up in a room with a few bottles of water and a durable sex toy. And you'd better hope that there isn't someone out there who will take advantage of your pliable state. Best case scenario, there might be a Beta who can take care of you, or fend off anyone too predatory.

3 - Pregnancy - Whether through a heat or not, you're pregnant. Congratulations - or condolences. Is it time to start a family, or time to start panicking?

4 - Suppressants - You're using suppressants to keep yourself on an even hormone cycle, skipping heats, or maybe pretending to pass as a different class of society. After all, Omegas might want to be in the military, where they're not usually allowed - or an Alpha might want to take a job in a university or as a nurse. Shouldn't they be allowed to, if their hormones are suppressed? Just hope that you don't miss a dose.

5 - Mistaken Identity - That friend that you always thought was an Alpha, or an Omega, or a neutral Beta, turns out to be something entirely different, and your world is turned absolutely upside down. Does it challenge your preconceptions? Or does it just ruin the balance between you two?

6 - Unlikely Pairs - After all, there's no actual reason that Alphas have to mate with Omegas. Maybe two Omegas can satisfy each other. Or two Alphas. Or your intended mate could easily be a Beta. Maybe this is just about breaking out of your pre-established role and becoming something new.

7 - Manifestation - In some cases, an individual may not know they are Omega, Beta or Alpha until their first heat/rut/manifestation, usually happening in early teen years. It may take you by surprise; it may be a blessing, or may be a deep disappointment.

8 - Other - Adventures in getting jobs, making families, fighting bad guys, and anything else you can come up with!

She uses the slight break in their kiss to dip her head down, kissing and biting and sucking and licking at his neck. A hand curls against the fabric of his shirts, the other flattening against his hip, grabbing his ass like she's making fun of him.

They sort of did this whole couple thing in reverse motion, but Erica doesn't have the heart to complain - sure sex usually comes after you start going out but. Nothing's really normal about them anymore, is it?

He started to walk her backwards, aiming for the wall behind her. "Can you blame me?" With her like that in front of him and his heat curling through him like a living thing?

"We should go." His suggestion didn't stop him from moving her back, trying to get her against the wall so he could keep them supported against something. "My dad's at work." His mouth was biting at her shoulder, leaving a trail of nips up to her neck.

She takes the hint and backs up until they hit a wall, bare back flattening on the coolness of it. She hums softly, a hand holding his head against her, the other sliding fingers up and down the extent of his back.

"Your house, then?" They couldn't really go to where she lived - Derek was there, and she's about one hundred percent positive she's going to get a scolding for this later. A talk about wolf relationships and 'she's meant for someone else', whatever that means.

"My place." His place. His bed. The thought of her in his bed had him growling against her skin, a low rumble that started in his chest. He nipped and bit lightly along her neck to her jaw, then along that to her mouth. "You should get dressed."

If he could get his hands off of her. Or the rest of him.

[gouging]

"I would if you'd let me." It's teasingly said, with a nudge of her lips pushing his head back. She isn't interested in leaving this spot, in his warm hands, either but the temptation to go to his house is definitely putting up a good fight. Stiles' house. His bed, where he wake sup ever morning, sleeps every night. Pinch her, she must be dreaming.

Ultimately, that temptation wins her over, and she wiggles underneath his arm, getting out of his hold pretty easily. She tugs on her pants faster than she thinks she's ever done in the past (and it takes awhile, her pants are really tight). Her shirt comes next, then each shoe and -

"All done." She walks up to him and grabs a hold of his hand, tugging it like a little child. "Let's go."

He's glad he's wearing two shirts since one of them is being tugged down to hide the erection he's sporting. Again. But he goes along with her, then heading ahead of her to lead them out of the basement and around the side of the school to the parking lot.

When he gets to his jeep, he opens her door for her, pulling her in for a kiss. A quick one. Or so he was attempting.

His body had other plans.

She jumps into his jeep, a bit surprised at the kiss but not complaining, not giving him the chance to pull away any time soon. She kisses him fiercely, a hand holding the back of his neck to give her leverage, and other flattening on his side, low, tempted to delve down deeper.

She doesn't - not right now, at least - and just settles for kissing him a bit. Okay, a lot. Erica props herself up on her knees so she can hover over him, hand shifting from his neck to hold his cheek tenderly, lovingly.

He couldn't deny that there was a strong urge to climb in after her and push her back against the seat and grind up against her. But he managed to pull himself off when he heard a horn from down the street.

Driving might be a bit of a problem.

"You're going to have to do your best not to distract me while I'm driving." Knowing how turned on he was, he knew it would be a simple thing for her to just, oh, flash a breast and have him swerve into a tree. Or maybe breathe too loud.

She goes slower, attempting to keep the contact but maybe give him a bit of his focus back, so he can drive them to his house safely. Ish. Nope. They weren't going to make it home. He saw a small off road and turned the wheel to take it, driving down far enough that they'd be out of sight before he hit the brakes. He was on Erica before the car had fully come to a stop, crawling over her seat and crushing his mouth to hers. "Erica. Erica. Erica." He nipped at her, kissing and licking at her mouth as he knelt on her seat, reaching down to find the knob to make it lean back.

Well, she's not about to argue. He moves over, and her thighs move up to rest against his hips, snug and warm, and so very needy for his touches. "Scenic route?" Whispered in his ear before she kisses it, while hasty fingers work at his pants. Predominately working on getting them off, or down enough. She wonders to herself why they ever put their clothes back on, but she can't find the words to tease him on that right now.

Pulling her shirt up and showing him her bra had his mouth watering. "It is now." He felt her hands at his pants, his own sliding her zipper down and trying to wiggle his hand in to find her, to hunt down the heat of her. "Clothes..."

Clothes were a problem. He wanted them off and out of the way. He wanted her naked and ready for him to slide into her again.

She huffs in frustration, because she can't get what she wants either. There's too little space, not even close to enough wiggle room to shimmy out of clothes. She moves to grasp at the door handle, opening it just slightly, in case he was leaning on it so he didn't fall out.

"Step out, get naked, come back. Got it?" She'll be doing the same, thank you very much.
