☕THE CAFE MEME☕

The weather is getting cold and what's better for batting off that chill than a nice hot beverage in a place with comfy chairs and a barista who knows your favourite combo?

☕PROMPTS☕

1) Customer. You spent ages choosing your drink, lining up for it and now there are no more tables. Great. As a result, you have to look for somewhere to sit while balancing that tray laden with your drink of choice and tasty pastry in your hands. Looks like you've got no other choice than to ask that person with the spare seat at their table.

2) Barista. An employee of this fine establishment, if nothing else, knows how to brew coffee. We hope. Maybe you're the best barista in the world. Or maybe you barely know how the machine works and instead make up for it by coming up with hilarious names on people's paper cups. Either way, you work here and go through the daily grind.

3) Student. It's no secret that students congregate in droves towards coffee shops for a combination of free wifi and caffeine. Whether in a group or on your own, the laptops and papers are out in full force. Whether any work is actually getting done is another question.

4) Early Morning Rush. It's first thing and you're crabby. All you want is your coffee and you will kick, punch and claw your way for that cup of black gold. And it looks like you're not the only one feeling this way. Are you going to let that person stealthily cut in front of you?!

5) Not A Coffee Person. Maybe you just want to try coffee for the first time. Or you're a tea drinker who is rethinking their views on coffee. You're canvassing for opinions, and that can range from outright asking other customers to hovering over tables to monopolizing the barista for a good 5 minutes, holding up the line.

6) Coffee Date. Asking people out to a coffee is the easiest thing in the world. Or is it? Whether it's with a friend or something more romantic, a coffee date is a good opportunity to connect with people and talk about whatever comes to mind.

7) Late Nights. The evening sky is dark and there's hardly anybody left in the coffee shop. Closing time is not for a while yet, but a stillness has settled over everyone. It's that time of night where anything can happen.

8) Free For All. Or if all else fails, just make your own scenario!

[Kaeya set the cup of coffee down in front of Jean, along with the cream and sugar, before sitting down across from her with his own. He personally wasn't into overly sweet things, but coffee by itself was probably still too on the bitter side for him. So, one cube of sugar and a small pour of cream was enough for him.

He took a sip and sighed with contentment, leaning back against the chair with an arm hanging over it.]

I could get used to coffee after work, but I think Diluc would miss my handsome face too much if I did. Still, this was a splendid idea.

[He raised the cup again as if to toast, taking a sip. It had certainly been a long day and while making sure to annoy Diluc at the end of it was a usual and fun past time, he didn't resist when Jean asked for him to join her for coffee instead.]

[Jean chuckles as she leans over and puts some cream and sugar in her coffee also. It was nice to spend time with Kaeya outside of the office and knight business.]

Maybe we should convince him to serve coffee along with wine. Best of both worlds.

Ha, maybe! Coffee in the morning, wine at night, hm?

[Not a bad idea, honestly. And it might even get on Diona's good side. Not that the woman hated Diluc or anything, but her disdain of alcohol was known to all. He laughed quietly.]

[It's late at night in a dingy little coffee shop, and this guy is sprawled over one of the tables mumbling something, dead drunk and seemingly unaware of what's going on in his surroundings. He also smells like booze, and the owner is not impressed. How he managed to get in here and not be turned away was a mystery, but now he's keeping the store open despite being unwelcomed.

Luckily, one of his staff is pretty strong, and pretty scary? Well, that's what the owner thinks, and that staff apparently is Deuce. Hopefully Deuce is ready to deal with his first drunk of the night. He might already be snoring.]

[When Deuce got called to the front, he rolled his eyes slightly. Then he rolled his shoulders, walked out into the lobby, approaching the offender.

Wow... this guy is really sauced. Placing a hand on his hip, Deuce took a breath before he spoke.]

It’s a misanthrope’s worst nightmare. Griffin would be cursing the fact that the drink in his hand isn’t a cocktail if he didn’t need this coffee. And he neeeeeeds this coffee. Being awake and functional during daylight hours is hard when you’ve been mostly nocturnal since the late 1800’s. But humanity is still stubborn about their business hours. Which is why he doesn’t just have one coffee: Griffin has two hands.

But he does need a straw if he wants to drink anything, due to the fact that his face is currently wrapped entirely in bandages. This is, ironically, how an invisible man escapes notice. It draws a fair amount of attention, but it also means he’s mostly left alone as people are afraid of offending him or being impolite by bringing his appearance up. He clears his throat.

“Hey. Uh. Do you think I could…? There aren’t any other seats and-“

He gestures with one coffee cup to his…entire deal.

“-it’s not anything contagious, I swear.”

Wendy’s in her usual spot at her usual table - tucked away in the far corner of the shop. Nose stuck in a book, ceramic mug of coffee growing colder by the minute while she’s distracted.

He really must be desperate if he’s managed to make it all the way over here to bother her while she indulges in her daily routine.

There’s no response from her at first. Then the most delayed, distracted-sounding “Hm?”

A pause, and she straightens up in her chair, uncrossing her legs so both feet touch the floor under the table.

“Not anything contagious?” she repeats, her face screwing up slightly as she holds her place with her thumb and finally puts her book down on the tabletop.

“Oh.”

Pardon her for staring. She has no tact sometimes. Most times.

While he much prefers tea, he also knew his brother would tease him all the time about how he wasn't an adult yet due to his intolerance for the drink.

With a sigh, he hung his head low.]
