Ah, rain—the precipitation that the whole world has a love/hate affair with. It waters the garden for free and ruins baseball games. It cools you off in the summer and it causes more ice and sleet to appear in the winter. Sometimes it is lovely and falls at a decent pace for a few hours, other times, it blasts the whole eastern seaboard away.

Poems and songs have been written about it, people have danced in it, others have cursed its entire existence, and still more refuse to go out and drive in it.

Now it’s time to roll some dice and see what the weather will have in store for you today.

1. DRIZZLE ☂ It’s not too heavy or too light of a downpour, just enough to wash away stuff in the air, water the ground, and clean up the streets.

2. MONSOON ☂ It’s horrible and awful! Rain is coming down in buckets, no one can get anywhere, the wind is whipping everything about, and now the cable is out.

3. SHOWER ☂ Reminds you of early spring, doesn’t it? A nice shower to make everything all green and smell fresh again. Lovely.

4. FLOOD ☂ While rain is good, it can sometimes be bad. Grab a boat!

5. CATS & DOGS ☂ You’re lucky with this one. It’s not the worst storm in the world, but it’s still pretty heavy. Be careful when driving!

1. A DARK, STORMY NIGHT ☂ You know all those stories that start off with a stormy night before something goes wrong: a murder, an attack by ninjas, a crime. It is one of the best known clichés in the world, and you’re stuck in the middle of it.

2. HUMIDITY ☂ It’s that time of the year again when the humidity rises and the rain has two options: make it worse or make it go away. Good luck getting the latter.

3. GRAY RAIN OF DEPRESSION ☂ We all know this one. Stuck in the middle of no where, or right after an argument, or something that leads to angst, the rain decides to express someone’s feelings in a physical form, serious or over the top.

4. QUIET MORNING ☂ Nothing to do, nowhere to be… sometimes the rain is a welcomed addition to a quiet day. Gives you an excuse to stay in, curl up in a warm blanket and a book, maybe a loved one or a cup of hot chocolate. With sprinkles.

5. PUDDLES ☂ After it rains, what is the number one thing you have to do? Go put on some rubber boots and splash around of course!

6. SUDDEN STORM ☂ It might have been predicted, but sometimes storms just sweep in and do their thing with little to no warning. Hope you’re not outside.

7. THUNDER & LIGHTNING ☂ Loud, surprising, scary, ominous, comforting, fantastic to watch or listen to… some like thunder and lightning, others not so much. Of course, if this happens before a big confrontation, the universe is telling you something.

8. CAN’T GET WORSE ☂ You did not say that. You did not just say that. How many times does this need to be seen in movies and books before anyone learns?

9. STUCK ☂ No, no, no, no. This cannot be happening. What happened to the ten percent chance of rain? You forgot your umbrella and now you’re stuck in it!

10. RUINED PLANS ☂ You had all these wonderful plans to go outside, have some fun in the sunshine, do some errands, maybe a date… and the weather goes against them.

11. DANCING ☂ Sometimes rain is a cause for celebration, or you just feel like doing something spontaneous. Grab someone to join you and get wet!

12. RAIN BATTLE ☂ The most intense, important battles happen in the rain. Verbal spars, punching someone in the guts; it’s all dramatic and climatic. And no one slips.

13. DATE ☂ Aww, don’t let the weather ruin your date! It can be really romantic, being out in the rain, and it’s always fun to go with the flow.

14. A DAY INSIDE ☂ Sometimes, it’s just better to stay inside and enjoy something simple and easy like board games or catching up on TV shows, or maybe the bills.

It’s almost certainly about to let up — [ Lightning crackles through the air, an earth-shaking thunder-boom chasing after it. Slats of rain pound the dirt into mud outside their ever-creaking shelter: An abandoned home in a ravaged village, goblin sentinels cleared out earlier that day.

Their team of two was meant to go spelunking, as it were, routing out anything of value from the basements in a final sweep of the forgotten town. Moreover, they were supposed to be back at camp by now, warmed by the fire, though Gale doubts the rest of their party has lingered in flimsy tents for the night. More likely they’ve sheltered at the Emerald Grove.

With a sigh, Gale adjusts his soaked robes, two fingers tugging at his damp collar. ]

Or perhaps not. [ He leans against the door frame, more fascinated than dejected by this turn of events. While he’s no Druid, there’s something to be said for power of nature — and how the Weave might channel it. ]

You know, I once struck myself with lightning as a boy. [ A glance over his shoulder at where Astarion is likely still rooting through the former occupant’s belongings. ] The power I had then was raw and unfettered — [ Something wistful in his voice, given his present weakness. ] — and telling me not to do something was much the same as encouraging me to try it.

[ Whether or not he has a willing audience, Gale turns away from the door to peruse a nearby bookshelf and carries on. He plucks a journal from the meagre collection, opening to a random page. ]

I don’t think my mother has ever been so frightened. [ Except the last time he saw her and told her he was going away — indefinitely, perhaps even forevermore. Gale pushes the thought away, mustering an amused grin. ] My hair was uneven for weeks after that, and I should consider myself lucky that my eyebrows ever grew back.

Astarion is soaking wet by the time he finds any sign of civilization.

It's not that he's been walking very long. It's just that minutes ago, when the darkness had receded and the world had righted itself again with that damned cleric's banishment spell still ringing in his ears, he'd felt suddenly free, for the first time in two centuries -- no will bearing down on his own, no singular desire to please his master, just... silence; nothing but the rushing sound of a downpour beating against his back and the occasional roll of thunder. And then he'd laughed, and laughed, until he'd begun to feel absolutely mad with it, and by then, well -- by then he'd been utterly drenched.

The flickering lights in the windows of the building up ahead - palatial, familiar in its grandiosity and yet unlike anything he can recall in Baldur's Gate - are promising, if imposing; a place like this won't be easy to sneak into. But what's the alternative? If he stays out here much longer, he's sure the tips of his ears are going to freeze right off, and the misery of it will ruin what should be the happiest moment of his life.

The sight of the stables out of the corner of his eye, as he squelches through the deepest of the night's shadows and comes upon a grand courtyard, is a welcome alternative. He's lurked in more disgusting places, and anyway, if he's lucky, he'll get a meal as well as some shelter out of it. So Astarion changes course, through the downpour, and - with less thought than he perhaps should have given this - very quietly lifts the latch on the door at the far end of the building, and slips silently inside.

(( So it's not completely insane for a D&D character to get dumped into another reality, but if that's not your jam that's fine! I just wanted to establish something for them to interact within the same universe and be terrible. ))

Unfortunate. [ Says a girl, amidst the clearing before them as rain falls from nowhere in particular - but one would say it is the sky. Yet the sky above them is full of stars without a cloud in sight. ] You know, this predicament and all.

Kind of lonely.

Kind of dumb, having to watch it all from above.

[ It's raining and, BB takes her umbrella and twirls it around so the water droplets dance around her. She steps forward, heels digging into the flat rippling surface of the water. Doused by the storm around them, and disturbed by BB's movements. ]

[ Is it supposed to rain today? No. But is it currently raining? Yes.

The rain picks a genuinely awful time to come down, too, since the tea shop is in the midst of replacing several many chairs and tables after the whole... incident, from a few days ago. Gossip has certainly gone about their part of town, and doubly so in the shop itself, but overwhelming majority seem to be on their side of things — Li and Mushi's, that is. It'd be a blessing, if it weren't such a close call, and if it weren't for the uptick in visits from the Dai Li.

He is the youngest and most spry employee of this shop, though, which means it's up to him to bring the new tables from the back into the shop, and he got a smidge of rainwater on him while he was dragging the first one in. As annoying as it is, at least it's not like there's that many customers, since it's starting to come down so hard — only a few regulars, and spare law enforcement here and there, who are still talking to the owner about the damages incurred.

Or, well, there really weren't any customers he cared about, until a certain somebody walks in. When he lifts his head to see who it is (what if he has to go back into customer service mode), a fresh bolt of anxious dread runs through him, his hands tensing around the table he's rearranging. How did he find this place? Did he come to expose them? Should he chase him out?

No, no... that's a terrible idea. Everyone is already on their side; he has no reason to muddy that by throwing a (metaphorical) match on the situation at hand. Instead, he just glares in Sokka's direction, while he still has time to while none of the other customers (or his uncle) are looking. There's really only one thing a look like that can communicate, and it's get out. He doesn't care if what's-his-name has to walk all the way back to the Upper Ring in the pouring rain, frankly. He left them alone like asked (you know. sort of), so he feels it's completely fair to expect the other to waltz right back out. ]
