This... wasn't where he was trying to get to. In fact, so far as he could tell, it was about as far from being his colony destination as he could think of. He made sure not to stray too far from his somewhat smoking shuttle as he crept forward, staring at the massive plants around him.

"Okay, Kansas this is not," he muttered to himself. Hearing something moving, he ducked down quickly. Fuck, that had sounded big.

Dr. Grant is busy wading through the thick grass, looking for any viable digsites. Usually, he stuck to desert-like areas like the Badlands, but sometimes wooded areas yielded results. He stops, scuffing up a few clods of dirt with his boot and bending down to check the consistency.

At the sight of what was obviously a freaking giant, Duo swore and scrambled back, trying to find better cover where there wasn't any risk of getting stepped on. His shuttle was close by, and he could only pray it didn't get spotted either. Oh this was bad, very bad.

The rustling, however, pulls Alan's attention away from the dirt. He frowns at the grass, crouching down.

Curiously, he parts the grass, looking around, frowning.

Unfortunately for Duo, the dark blue and olive Preventer uniform wasn't exactly good for hiding in the light colored grasses, especially as the section he was trying to hide in suddenly parted. He froze, staring up at the giant for a moment before bolting.

Excuse him while he just stares for a second. After the whole thing on Isla Nublar, Dr. Grant thought he'd seen it all...

Guess he was wrong.

"H-Hey. Hey!" And he's off, rummaging through the grass. "I won't hurt you."

Was he ever going to catch a break? First he crashed, then got spotted, and now he found himself dodging feet as the giant searched for him. And somehow accidentally getting stepped on sounded worse than whatever might happen if he got caught.

"Hey, watch it!" he yelled. At least the guy spoke English.

And Alan stops. "Ah... Sorry."

Yep. He sounds sorry. "Uh, I really won't hurt you. Honest."

He takes his hat off, so he can see a bit more clearly. "My name's Dr. Alan Grant. I'm a paleontologist."

Taking a risk, he stepped out into a little patch where there wasn't so much grass where he could be seen, and more importantly where he could see the giant.

Okay Maxwell, time to be friendly with the locals. Even if he did wrap a hand around the end of the braid as his nerves showed. Give him mad gunners all day. The last time he'd something that big move, he'd been piloting a suit the same size. "Duo Maxwell, Preventer, though I have a feeling you won't know what that means..."
