Friday Night Excursions Meme
It’s Friday night, and you don’t have plans. Or maybe you have some really excellent plans involving your couch and your laptop, but your characters are in dire need of a social life. Grab your friends or text that cutie you swiped right on, you’re going OUT.
Scenarios:
1. Blind Date - You swiped right. Or, maybe this is an old-fashioned blind date, where your friends set you up. All you have is a time, date, place, and a name. Better hope they’re a good conversationalist, or you’ll be climbing out the bathroom window.
2. Game Center - Who’s ready for some SKEE-BALL? Mini-golf, anyone? Grab a friend or a date and school them in a game of laser-tag. Drunken laser tag? That’s what Friday nights were made for.
3. House Party - Sure, you were invited. Your friend’s cousin’s ex-roommate lives here. And you know… that guy. Fred? Fred. Okay, so maybe you’re crashing the party, and it is a rager. Get ready to get blackout drunk and jump off the roof, because it is Friday night and we are here to PAR-TAY.
4. Bar/Club Scene - Well, it’s better than drinking alone. Maybe you came with friends, maybe you’re just desperate to forget your loneliness, maybe you just honestly like sitting alone at the bar with a book. But hey, maybe you’ll meet someone cute, or maybe some jerk will try to slip something in your drink and you’ll end up best friends with the bartender who gets him arrested. Maybe you’ll try out a hip new club and get your grind on.
4a. ALT Bar/Club Scene - When I say BD you say SM. Or, maybe your alt club experience this evening is going to be one of those new hipster speakeasies. Maybe a swingers club? Whatever it is, you’re going to be walking a little bit off the beaten path tonight. Grab your tiger-print thong and curl your mustache, you’ve got an invite somewhere exclusive.
5. Meetup - You don’t need no dang romance (or maybe you do). You’re going to be spending the evening with your new crochet group. Craft beer enthusiasts. Improv acting troupe. Parcheesi players. Only, whoops, turns out everyone canceled except the two of you.
6. Great Outdoors - You know what weekends are for? CAMPING. Pile into the camper or heft your camping backpack, the world outside awaits. And if the wild world outside is a bit intimidating, there are always more suburban outdoor activities, like streaking through a moonlit park or starting a dumpster fire. Probably better to stick with camping. Camping builds character.
7. Great Indoors - The whole reason that humanity invented houses is because indoors is just plain better. You’ve got your couch, your pet, your laptop, some tea and a good book. And maybe a good friend or significant other to stay in and cuddle with you? Go on, invite someone over. You can make dinner, or order pizza, or just skip dinner and get straight to "dessert". There’s no work tomorrow, let’s stay up all night on a Sex and the City marathon.
8. Wreaking Havoc - Ordinary Friday night plans are for losers! Let’s put on our Halloween costumes and go TP a house. Let’s start a riot and party like it’s 1999. Go wild and crazy, paint outside the lines. It’s Friday!

His civilian helmet -also red- is propped up on the seat behind him, and next to it is a slightly sleeker black one, just waiting for Chrissy to come try it on.]
<3
Chrissy, on the other hand, is making a beeline for him, head held high, as though this is the sort of thing she does all the time. In all honesty, she feels like her heart might just beat right out of her chest, but she's good at faking confidence.]
Someone knows how to make an entrance.
no subject
The girl who walked right up to him got a full fledged smile, though, and Jason happily ignored everyone else as he pushed off his bike to meet her.]
Yeah, well. Someone came out and told me ta stop blockin' the drive. So I stopped blockin' the drive. Not my fault they didn' specify.
[His New Jersey accent was thicker than she might have been expecting, but his voice was warm and welcoming.]
Told you I'd be here ta pick you up, didn' I?
no subject
[She'd like to think that whichever teacher came out to ask him to move was polite about it, at least, but she also knows how likely that is. Chrissy can't even blame him for managing to follow directions and still be a bit of a menace.]
Nice loophole, though. Very impressive. You should know that you're probably going to be the hot topic around here for a while.
[Nothing ever happens here until it does, and as luck would have it, he's the most recent thing to happen. People are going to talk, possibly to an irritating degree. The only thing that matters to her right now is the fact that he's actually here.]
You did. And I'm kind of glad to see you because I don't really feel like walking.
no subject
[He chuckled softly, his grin brighter on his face than it had any real right to be. This was the first time they'd met, after all. She'd been a misdial, a mistake that his fingers had made when he'd been laying on a rooftop trying to decide if the wound on his side was bad enough to need stitches or not. He hadn't wanted to bother Alfred, knowing the old man hadn't been feeling well. He'd tried to text Dick, using an old code that probably hadn't worked in years, and instead, he'd gotten her. He shouldn't have continued the conversation at all...and yet, he had.
She'd kept him up and moving until he'd managed to crawl to one of his safehouses and staple himself shut that night. He'd woken up the next afternoon on the floor feeling like he'd been hit by a truck, but her number had been saved in his phone and they'd been texting back and forth ever since.
Still grinning, he held out his hand.]
Jason Todd. It's wonderful to finally get to meet you.
no subject
[She's teasing. It's a ridiculous idea, and it wouldn't work for a couple of reasons. And maybe it's not something she'd normally say to someone she just met, but it's fun to think about.
Smiling, Chrissy reaches out to shake the offered hand.]
It's lovely to meet you for real, Jason Todd. I'm Chrissy Cunningham.
no subject
Stepping back, he didn't let go of her hand and instead used it to draw her up to his bike.]
Well, she'll be the smoothest ride from here to Gotham, that is a promise. Wanna try on the helmet? I had to guess on the sizing, but I think I got it right.
no subject
She's definitely not expecting the kiss, and it makes her laugh out loud. Which is probably why she's content to let him tug her closer to the bike.]
That's good to know. Red or black?
[They look to be about the same size, so she's not actually sure which is which at first glance.]
no subject
He let go of her hand to pick up the black helmet, holding it out with that goofy smile still in place. It was a little smaller than his, but most of that difference was on the inside, where he'd splurged to made sure the helmet would be comfortable for someone who wasn't used to wearing one.]
This one. Mine has less padding, more room for a bigger head. I'm hoping this one is pretty close, but there are some adjustments I can make if it's not. If not, you're gunna have to wear mine until we can see if Hawkins even has a bike shop to get another helmet...
no subject
She takes it, of course, considering it curiously for a moment while she listens to his explanation.]
Thank you. Do you have a big head?
[The ponytail has to go. Maybe it's not strictly necessary, but she's looking at the helmet and it doesn't seem like it'll fit comfortably if it stays. So she reaches up with one hand and tugs the scrunchie out of her hair so she can put the helmet on.]
I'm reasonably sure that we don't have a bike shop. There might be one in the next town over, but that's not really necessary because this one fits well enough.
no subject
[He chuckled a little, watching as she took her hair down to try on the helmet. She could have left it in, or even tied it up in a bun so the wind didn't tangle it while they were moving, but he didn't know her well enough yet to make that suggest.
Or he just didn't want her to think he had enough people with long hair on his bike that he'd just casually know that.
Reaching up, he paused before actually touching her or the helmet.]
May I? I just need to check a few things to make sure it's fitted well enough.
no subject
[She shakes her head and smiles, fighting the urge to laugh at that. Chrissy knows firsthand how ridiculous siblings can be, even if she only has the one. It occurs to her after the fact that she probably could have tied her hair up, but there's no point in worrying about it now.
The hand hovering there earns him a puzzled smile. People don't generally ask for permission, so she's not really sure what to say at first.]
Oh, yea. It's okay. Go ahead.
no subject
Once he had permission, however, he was carefully touching the helmet, giving it a little bit of a shake so he could feel how it shifted on her head. It had a little give, and he made a mental note as to where the shifting was the worst.]
Okay, looks like I need to adjust the padding just a little. Take it off for me?
[He took it back once she took it off, reaching up inside so he could shift the extra padding pieces around, the rough rasp of Velcro loud in the otherwise quiet.]
That should do it. You can probably keep your hair up if you want, but this should fit a little better. You want to be able to twist your head without the helmet slipping at all. And...it's kind of a given, but you should be able to see out of the visor, too.
no subject
It makes sense that he'd have to double-check the helmet, though. He clearly knows more about bikes than she does, after all.]
Okay!
[She'd had to bite her tongue to keep from making a dumb joke, and so she hands the helmet over with a nod.]
Well, I know that now. So thank you. I guess it was kind of slippy before. Are they both yours?

Icarus-Verse
The humming is a constant reminder that Icarus is working. Like blood through the veins, the electricity runs through millions of unseen cables, networks, and somewhere between the physical, digital, time, and space, Icarus was able to keep all of them safe.
Tifa worried about when they would reach their destination, how many of them would return to Icarus once it calls them home.
Outside Icarus, Tifa couldn’t hear the hum.
The brunette pushed together her forefingers and thumbs, pinching her flesh tightly together. “There’s a meeting between first class and the captain in two hours, ma’am.” To address Sally Whiteman as anything less would be highly inappropriate. Tifa relaxed her fingers.

And she had hers.
Sally smiled softly to herself. "It seems we have some time to kill." The priestess uncrossed her legs and pushed herself to stand, walking across the living room of her first class estate suite room. The gilded click of cigarette box was followed by the silence of an expectant finger being pointed towards where a butane lighter was sat upon a mantle. Clearly she expected the girl to come light her cigarette for her.

Better than David’s presence, anyway.
His services were unparalleled, but his presence left Tifa a haunting feeling that churned her gut, and her head throbbing with concern. Did her own presence feel the same?
No, because she was congenial, because she had a history of trauma, of life experience, she didn’t read these horrific events, she lived them. David wasn’t nor will ever be alive.
