Happy Birthday! Gifts, parties, greetings. It's your special day and someone has done something to make it memorable for you (or they haven't). How will you celebrate? Cats out of cakes or more low-key good (or bad) times? Everything's possible, my friend, it's your special day!

How to play -

[Ranma unfortunately doesn't remember or know when he was born, nor has he really celebrated his birthday before. That doesn't mean anyone can't substitute a date in place of it. Obvious, his birthday'd have a theme around either martial arts or fighting, or takes place at a beach or water park. There may or may not be a panda-shaped piñata too.]

[ YOURE LATE wriothesley's birthday was 11/23, wrizzgiving. but it's also fake, that's just his jailiversary 🙃 so he'll gladly accept late pressies without judgment!

he'll spend the day working while pretending not to work, as usual. some of his inmates threw him a surprise party, which was very sweet of them, but he's known about it for weeks. ]

Nothing would make this birthday boy happier than such a pleasant surprise. I didn't think your schedule allowed for a visit at all today.

[ May 9th! He has never celebrated it. Not once. ]

January 26th. I will have chocolate ice cream with my best friend and she will try to get me to wear a party hat.

Likely to celebrate it with a room full of near naked/topless/scantily clad women, but one-on-one is fine.

He loves sex, so pop out of a cake or place ribbons and bows on/around strategic places. Or put some frosting on that cannon he packs and go to town on it.

( April 30. canonically, his 18th birthday was the worst day of his life. lost both his father and learned the second most important person to him was not exactly who he said he was. not really a day he likes to celebrate. )

( Sorry Diluc, a little birdy whispered in his ear how the great Dawn Winery owner is due for birthday wishes, and it so happens that Wriothesley is due for a drink. So here he is in all his gothic glory, boots thudding across old wood until he's seated at the bar. )

I figured you'd be here.

[ Diluc looks up from where he’s washing glasses behind the bar as the door opens, parting his lips already to utter the friendly greeting formed on them. Even before the door finishes swinging open to reveal the newcomer though, the heavy footfalls alert him that it isn’t a usual Mondstadter and he delays the greeting. He pauses washing that glass and furrows his brow until the patron steps into the light.

Fontaine’s Duke of the Fortress of Meropide. Wriothesley. Well, that’s unexpected. ]

Well, it is my tavern.

[ He returns to finishing up washing the glass, setting it aside with the rest to be dried, then washes his hands and wipes them on a towel.

He’s got no idea he’s about to be bombarded by birthday wishes. ]

You’re a long way from home. What’ll it be?

It's also your birthday. You do live up to your hardworking reputation.

( That's why he has graced him with his presence for better or for worse. He shrugs off the heavy jacket and drapes it over the seat next to him. So, in light of today, he slides over a small package of seasonal tea grown from the aromatic flowers in Liyue. It's a special blend. )

This is for you, by the way, and as for me... Do you have Dandelion tea available?

[ Diluc is visibly stunned when Wriothesley reveals the purpose of his visit to the Angel’s Share. He is doubly so when the older man presents the gift to him. Crimson eyes widen as he stares down at the little package, at a loss for words. How did he know? And why…? Diluc’s mind swirls with questions, but none of them make it to being asked aloud. He has such conflicting feelings suddenly, but none of them are vocalized either. Instead, his brows furrow and he reaches out to place his hands on the gift box.

Were Wriothesley someone he was closer to, he might have protested a little. But his father taught him that declining a gift from anyone was rude and disrespectful, and so Diluc struggles to recover from his shock as quickly as possible so that he can show his gratitude. His voice is a bit strained and he doesn’t smile, but it’s impossible for him to hide how strongly he’s impacted by the gift. ]

…I’m not sure how you knew, but… thank you. This is quite generous of you.

[ He hasn’t even opened it yet, but still, his words hold no sense of artificiality. He is sincere with his thanks. It’s just difficult to smile on this day. He didn’t even hear Wriothesley ask for dandelion tea. ]

I found out today just as I headed out the Knights of Favonius headquarters. Don't mention it. It's perfect after a long day.

( Well, tea is perfect any time of day but it goes without saying. The aromas and taste will be an experience for Diluc to treat himself during after hours. He can tell from his voice the attention to this specific form of celebration might not be up his alley, so he tries to alleviate weight off of it. Everyone has their reasons not to celebrate and seeing as Diluc even tuned off his request, he’ll gladly veer the attention elsewhere and forget all about this. He did want to avoid alcohol in account of traveling back to Fontaine, but... )

So, what are your specials tonight?

[ Wriothesley speaking again gets Diluc to look up at him. He blinks a few times and swallows thickly, the apple of his throat bobbing a few times as he struggles to get his bearings again. He shakes his head to clear it, pushes down unpleasant memories and thoughts, gloved fingers curling tightly around the edges of the box, as if it were an anchor pivoting him in the moment.

And pivot he does, of course. Right back to being the seemingly stoic, unruffled, last Ragnvindr.

What was he saying? Tea… Specials… Right. ]

‘Sorry. You wanted… tea? Most prefer the dandelion wine here to tea. Typically, that is ordered at the end of the night.

[ It is late, but Wriothesley just got here. ]

So, do you want the tea or the wine? If you’re hungry, we have chicken mushroom skewers, complimentary with whatever else you order.

( Perhaps next time he'll skip the whole surprise gifting deal. The faint heaviness of awkwardness is something he's relatively good about navigating, but he hates to impose Diluc's work shift with any further antics. )

I'll take some tea and a wine bottle to go, I can't miss out on those skewers since you've mentioned it. I'll need energy before I take the trip back.

Is it just me or... Are you nervous? I didn't offend you with my gift, did I? It's just tea from Liyue.

[ Diluc sets about getting Wriothesley his skewers and tea with a nod, but he pauses in his work when the older man asks about his… strange reaction to the gift. He looks up from pouring the kettle over the tea leaves and awkwardly shakes his head, his expression a bit sheepish. ]

Ah… no. I apologize.

[ He finishes pouring the steaming water and sets the teacup aside to finish brewing while he places the two skewers on a plate. Usually it is one skewer per customer, but Wriothesley did just deliver a gift to him. ]

I truly am grateful and appreciative for the gift— please don’t misunderstand. I just… have not celebrated my birthday in a few years. For personal reasons.

[ He sets the plate down in front of Wriothesley along with his sweet dandelion tea, the leaves removed and a spoon of honey placed on the saucer. Diluc is looking down into the golden depths, struggling a bit for an explanation. Short of outright saying it’s the day his father died, there is no explanation he can give and he doesn’t wish to burden Wriothesley with such a bitter topic. He decides not to try then. If Wriothesley questions it further, he’ll think of something. ]

I suppose whoever you ran into is of the opinion that needs to change.

[ born on november 16, so just a little belated! probably would go out drinking to celebrate, unless she's been dragged to an alternate celebration. ]

[ her birthdate hasn't been clearly established in canon, so let's pick july 8 as a random day (unless you'd prefer a different time of year)! she... doesn't typically celebrate, especially after being kicked out of her parents' house. ]

[ her birthday is october 6th. she probably wouldn't throw a party herself, but she's likely to be roped into one if it's thrown by her classmates. ]

[ he's probably making a really big deal out of it. any excuse to be the center of attention. ]
