I think we're a bit beyond "you shouldn't prevent yourself beating off for some challenge." You're... capable enough to shoulder everything. Beyond capable, actually- especially since you've got someone waiting on you to come home intact.

[ my guy does this look like a smite-happy zealot to you. is this the face of a man who thinks he can smite his problems. he would be thoughtfully squeezing whole grain bread at the whole foods while his daughter sits in the buggy and tries to sneak in sugary cereals when his back's turned. the only problems that get The Smite are the ones burning down the orphanage. his personal problems dont get smote they get the old lonely-midnight-tears treatment.

But, while all signs continue to point to his heart being in the right place, he'll let that little bit of unsavoury language go. "Beating off" is not a phrase he's had any meaningful experience with, but it immediately has the only effect it could. A curdling in his nose as it crinkles in fleeting disgust, but no verbal acknowledgement or reprimand.

It eases in a moment, as a more relaxed arrangement is proposed. An easy, gentle smile comes to him, and he chuckles sensibly. ]
