We're better educated about mental health now, so no one should be thrown in the loony bin for having a bad day, and what a dated name, anyhow, geez... Oh, what's this? You are being thrown into a padded cell? Huh. Well, you're on your own there, pal. But, hey, it's no big deal! We all go a little mad sometimes!

sanity slippage - If you weren't crazy when you got here, being isolated from the outside world will do it.
guards, chefs, and other staffers - Looks, man, you just work here. You've got no say in how the place is run.
safety in insanity - Unlike some people, you're having a blast here! When the real world starts to get a little too nuts, there's nothing like a trip to the psych ward, where everything makes sense.
shock therapy - Have we made it clear that this place is the worst? Maybe being tied down and taking 48 volts to the skull will cement it.
brainwashing - Maybe you're here for a reason. Until you learn to conform, you can never leave.
the fancy room - For some reason, you've managed to score yourself VIP placement.
solitary - The last place on Earth that anyone would want to be.
writing on the walls - Bonus points if these messages are etched in blood.
experiment on me - As the bottom of the barrel, patients are used as test subjects for all kinds of things. It's not like anyone will care if one of these experiments turns fatal.
beyond the veil - Something sinister is lurking beneath.
entertainment - Aw, did you think you would be entertained? No, no. You are the entertainment. Audiences have come from far and wide to see your insane antics.
nurse ratchet - Or the cruel, sadistic doctor/nurse who keeps the place running.
escape - You have got to get out of here.
