The mark of his affection takes the form both of material gifts made specifically for his person and an insistence that they carry themselves with a pride and dignity befitting of them. Them and his affection for them.

In terms of belongings, Charles doesn't carry many extraneous items around with him. It doesn't make sense, when the chance of getting looted is high at the best of times. But he's kept a specific piece of jewelry with him since he was a boy, something to remember his family by.
It's been a good luck charm, of sorts, and he's made sure to keep it safe through campaigns and tournaments alike, wearing it close to his heart. It is something special to him, and as such, anyone that he considers giving it to must be equally special.
He feels that it's a gift worthy of Cassandra - and as he waits, pendant warm in his palm, he hopes that she likes it. He hopes that it can be a promise that he will return.

Cassandra moves quickly through the castle, although she attempts to pretend that she isn’t. (She only runs when the halls are empty, slowing to only a quick walk the moment someone rounds a corner.) She has somewhere that she absolutely must be. Charles is due to depart, soon, and she won’t let him leave without seeing her.
Her heart breaks every time he leaves, but every times she sees him off. Her heart allows no less. She has to. She needs to. The time until he returns will be fraught with worry and nights that are even more sleepless than usual. Afraid that he won’t.
She enters the room where he waits, and her heart flutters in her chest at the sight of him.

For the most part, she's managed to keep this from happening by being thoroughly prickly and unfriendly to anyone who gets too close to an invitation into the TARDIS, but this particular human is being incredibly thick and will Not take the hint. Of course, she could arrange for him to have an Accident - she and the Doctor are currently navigating a tricky situation with Cybermen, after all, and people do tend to die when Cybermen are involved - but she's trying to be subtle. Perhaps she'll be merciful and simply implant a new fear of interstellar travel in the idiot. For now, while she considers her options, she'll employ some casual glaring at him while the Doctor explains his current clever plan for minimizing loss of life, maximizing good feelings etc. etc. Maybe he'll grow a brain and realize he's not wanted.

Not testy or prickly or bickery, which is more often than not. Not mouthy or shrewdly insulting, which happening even once or twice would usually get someone the boot. No. None of those. When she gets angry, there's something about the air—a hum. The way humans describe the hairs rising on their skin when they know a storm is coming, but it hasn't yet broken. Except in the air. In his bones.
(Which—well—could be half him, but it's at least half, if not more, Kash.
And it is against the rules to let Kash's temper reach its worst(s). To call it something as simple and paltry as jealousy or possessiveness—in the daggers being thrown by her toward their newest tag-along—would be a pale shadow of the complicated network of what The Doctor knows—highly suspects—is contained within her.)
The Doctor laid a hand on the back of her upper arm, casual as could be (when there was nothing casual about the choice made), even as he was pointing at people with his other hand. "—and you lot—five, six—down the tunnel, three rights, a left, and then a right again. You've got to hit all the breakers at the exact moment I tell you, once Kash and I get them all on the main floor."

Their tag-along is in one of the groups he's sending off, and she can't help but feel a certain sense of satisfaction deep in her gut at both the choice and the touch to her arm. Perhaps she won't have to do anything too drastic to prevent this new human from getting into the TARDIS. "And how are we accomplishing that, Doctor?"
