Blood of mine
![]() In most vampire media, the relationship between maker and fledglings is many things: parental, sibling, an apprenticeship, even antagonistic. Just as often, there's a romantic undertone, as well. For what could connect anyone more than the sharing of blood, of the dark gift?
† UNDEFINED → The nature of your bond is complex and unclear to outsiders. Perhaps even to both of you, as well. † DYSFUNCTIONAL → There's a lot of bad blood between you, yet you can't hate each other fully. † FORBIDDEN → Any sort of relationship beyond the vampiric-familial would be frowned upon by both human society and the underworld. † LOVERS → Why not? No one else will understand you like they do, and you probably won't have to worry about outliving them. |

[The thing about being a Chancellor of the Authority is that it means that Nora is constantly under scrutiny. She's willing and able to lie her way out of compromising circumstances, and being the lover of the lover of the person who heads up most of the inquisitions means that she's often safe (unless, of course, her lover's lover were to get upset with her); nobody knows who her father or brother are simply to save her the trouble of being judged for their potential wrongdoings.
She wouldn't want to keep Sylvie secret in the same way (she has responsibilities as a Maker, thank you!) and furthermore she wouldn't be able to (considering she turned Sylvie long after she'd already been in office) but sometimes she wishes, in a horrible dark part of her soul, that she could. Sylvie is still young, relatively speaking, and Sylvie makes wild choices. Not even bad ones, necessarily! Just ones that have repercussions, or that could if the wrong people discovered them.
This doesn't amount to anything more serious than a scolding most of the time, the Guardian snapping at her to control her child, the other Chancellors tsking and tutting and wearing their skepticism on their faces, but for all of her aloof posturing Nora is still a goody-goody at heart and she likes feeling like she's done well. This means that when she gets a talking-to, so does Sylvie.
(She has a hard time saying this, but her need to lecture does stem from concern, too. She worries about Sylvie like any Maker ought, worries that Sylvie will get herself in trouble that neither of them can charm their way out of, worries that Sylvie hasn't adapted well or is acting out.
She worries that she hasn't been able to be a good Maker, due to her responsibilities or her temperament or some unnameable other thing.)
So it's now, on the heels of such a whirlwind, that Nora waits in her quarters, idly sketching to occupy her hands as she waits for Sylvie to appear.]
