Yawning, Luka sits over his mug of coffee and nothing else, trying to keep his sleeves off the tacky surface of the table. He’s been up for two hours, after a refreshing week-long nap in his box of dirt, and he needs coffee and company to bring him back to consciousness. He’s washed up, dressed warmly after the cold of his box, and ready to see who the world sends at him this fine, early early morning.

Marlowe sits in a corner booth with the ashtray in front of him. A stub of cigarette burns perilously close to his thin lip, and he’s picking through his crumpled pack and the butts in the tray. He’s up to one and a half so far, it’s a pretty good haul.

Similarly scattered on the Formica table are several coins, about twenty-seven cents in nickels and pennies. He can scrape together coffee, a sandwich and a pickle if he’s lucky with that. He’s oddly composed in this disarray, more himself than he could be if anyone were to point out that this look of dogged desperation suits him.

[ It's been a long night dealing with ghouls and ghosts, and now Lapis is just parked in a Denny's - not hesitating to munch away on some pancakes. While that's not strange, beyond all the blood she's covered in, she also has a... dog sitting across from her who is devouring a plate of bacon.

The place might also just be more haunted than usual thanks to the ghosts that hang around her. This is fine. ]

[ It's a late night in the middle of nowhere but Denny's is open. Phil sits with a stack of pancakes with his hands wrapped around a coffee mug. He appears to be looking out into the parking lot but his table also has a perfect view of the exists and entrances. ]

[A very tall and slightly ragged looking man walks in, looking like he's more accustomed to spending his time roaming the wilderness than eating at a Denny's. He orders a coffe and goes to join Phil at the table, an impatient frown marring his scarred face.]

You wanted to see me?

She seems zoned out, chin propped in her hand as she looks into space or distantly watches the wait staff go about their business. Conversing privately with her host - or idly wondering about how useful it would be to recruit the humans running this place. If anyone catches her eye she'll start and give them a tired, slightly embarrassed smile. ]

There's a pot of coffee on the table near the paper he's reading, already two cups in. Noticing there're two bottles of hot sauce on his table and none on the tone next to him, he shifts to remedy that situation before settling back into his seat.]

[ Abigail is not supposed to be here. She's not, but she is and Will Graham is, too. She stares at him like a frightened rabbit as he moves the hot sauce, before ducking behind a corner. She contemplates running out the door, but she doesn't have any real transportation. ]

[Of course he ends up at Denny’s out-of-season. It’s an issue that could easily be fixed with a few taps of a Tempad but he chooses not to. Too much trouble since he’s already here staring at the open menu on the table. Might as well make the best of it, right?

Pumpkin or pecan? Pumpkin… or pecan? Hmm. (Yes, he’s mumbling under his breath. Pie is serious business, even though this was only meant as the briefest of pit stops before heading back to the office.)]

( Sitting at a booth with a barely touched plate of pancakes and a carafe of coffee that the waitress left in annoyance after filling her cup for the umpteenth time, Chrissy drums her fingers against the ceramic mug nestled between her chilled hands.

Nerves and anxiety ( and whatever else that's going on with her that she doesn't want to acknowledge ) have her on high alert — the coffee likely isn't helping, but the last thing she wants to do right now is sleep. So, whenever the door chimes open with someone new coming into the restaurant or the slightest sound, her head swerves towards the sound with wide eyes, expecting someone or something to be there.

Realizing it's nothing, and she's just being paranoid, she turns her attention back to the warm, inky liquid swirling in her mug as she gently moves it between her hands. )

[Mia does this - just seemingly pops up from out of nowhere. In this case, she’s responsible for one of those door chimes that have Chrissy on edge. But she’s quick about it and virtually undetectable and ready to apologize for freaking Chrissy out if she has to.

For now she’s just offering a small smile, pointing at the untouched plate of pancakes. Waiting for the okay to pounce.]

[ She was a regular here now. So much so that the staff didn't even bat an eyelash that she had a Ghoul with her, and he was breathing fire in between sips of his milkshake.

She, on the other hand, was munching on some waffles. ]

[Another regular slips in. Paul Atreides is carrying a Grand Slam and smiles with a nod as he takes a seat opposite Sister. His meal is accompanied with a warm coffee.

The Ghoul gets a nod in greeting, too.]

Good to see you again, Sister. Those waffles are very good, aren’t they?

[ Between one bite of omelette and the next, in walks Draco. The confident stride stutters as the door swings shut behind him; he warily takes in the handful of other patrons, who are not only the sort of people to seek out breakfast at this ungodly hour (already suspect enough in his mind) but also unmistakably muggle. Which is… fine.

He doesn't care. His nose does not wrinkle with distaste, he does not sneer. There's a fixedly neutral expression on Draco's face as he continues to scan the restaurant, this time with purpose instead of surprise. He ignores the waitress's friendly offer to help him find him a booth.

The blank expression has cracked a little by the time he spots Potter, showing only a hint of his true annoyance. He approaches the corner booth with his head held high, ignoring the odd looks – over-dressed and over-coiffed as always, but at least Draco's suit is passably muggle.

Taking the opposite bench, he narrows his eyes. ]

When I invited you to choose the location for this meeting, I meant your office or mine, not some… diner.

[ Jesse stumbles through the door of the Denny's, nearly missing the stainless steel plate and walking right into the glass door. He manages, though, remembering suddenly that it's a 'PULL' and not a 'PUSH'. It swings open with a groaning creak that's all too loud for the type of covert entrance he's set on making. It's late. So late that it's almost early. The smell of cat piss and cheap beer wafts in, settling around him like a fog as he gets his bearings, the door groaning again as it shuts behind him and wafts that acrid scent throughout the restaurant.

Jesse squints at the sudden introduction of light, eyes used to the relative dark of his car and the parking lot. He rubs at the back of his neck, blue eyes wide as he scans the place. It isn't crowded, being that it's so late on a weekday. A few regulars hang about - bar-goers trying to soak up the alcohol with fluffy pancakes or the handful of elderly patrons who wake up before the asscrack of dawn. It takes his body a second to catch up with his reeling mind as he finally forces his feet to move, Nike sneakers scuffing along the battered carpets as he creeps down the aisle and then finally shovels himself onto a cheap, pleather bench seat, scooting until he's next to the window. He's high. Too high. Way too high to be in here under all these lights, surrounded by anyone at all. Even the few, scattered patrons morph into Too Much under the gaze of paranoia running through his veins. What the fuck was in that shit? He grabs the menu, unfolding the monstrosity as widely as possible in an effort to distract himself or appear busy, using it more to obscure himself than to pay any mind to what he wants. Besides, he already knows what's on the menu. He comes here all the time.

It's probably comical to the outside observer in the way that Jesse peeks out over and around the glossy menu, eyes wide and shifty. Maybe he stares at you for a few moments too long. Maybe in his haste to reach a table, he's knocked over your drink. Or maybe he's too out of his entire mind to realize that he just sat across from you, a complete stranger, instead of choosing an empty booth to seat himself. ]
