Redemption Romance

Atonement is, in your eyes, a Sisyphean task. You'll never be able to redeem yourself, no matter if what you did was against your will and only allowed you to survive in a cruel world. Who could understand what you've done or think you could be forgiven when it comes to all your friends?

Certainly you never believed redemption, so far away already, could come in the form of a person...or a romantic relationship.

Taking an Einherjar skiff onto the water has gone over so well before, it's only natural that Loki would want to repeat that success. And so they have, although this time he brought a coat for his guest. After an hour or so of ricocheting across the waves like a pinball in a machine, they're now anchored in a little cove out of sight of the Palace. Out of sight of everything except the sea and the mountains.

And there is wine, and food, and no hurry for either of them, but somewhere in the middle of lighter conversation, Loki falls silent, looking out on the waves as sunset turns the foam pale gold. "I want to ask you something," he says at last. "And I don't think the answer will upset the timeline, although it...may not be a nice answer. If it will, you can tell me no."

This is...very not date talk, unfortunately, but at this point in their affair, Loki dares to hope Mobius is used to him being difficult in strange ways at strange times.

"I don't know how accurate my memories are, is the thing. But I think there were two planets the Order culled while I was with them. I was...I didn't have a choice. You've seen...probably..." He trails off, visibly uncomfortable, because of course he participated.

"Do you know if they recovered? I never believed in his calculations. Even if they worked for some worlds, all planets aren't the same. But...did they work there?"
