His hair, his dress, everything taken from that little misadventure in the Wall Market though he looks about like he wants to just get up and leave. He only isn't because this between them is a job; some sort of party that was invitation only and required a date. Unluckily for Cloud, he was the one pushed out into the thick of it where he finds himself sitting right across from the other merc just wondering how much trouble he'd get into were he to break out his sword.
Too much to have it be worthwhile even if he did want to so badly get the hell out of there.) You did get told what we were doing, right? (Please say yes, they both might be professionals but the sooner he's out this damn dress, the better in his eyes once he shifts about. His wine glass is untouched for now by choice, he didn't want to go near alcohol if they might have to get into a fight.)

Instead, he's in his more formal uniform. What's worse, he's with someone. He can't help but feel a little bad for him, forced to put on a wig and a dress for this mission they have to do.
They're supposed to be here on bodyguard duty, but they can't just bring in their weapons willy-nilly, because it has to be done incognito. A huge ball with all the big people invited, politicians and celebrities from all over will be gracing the stage tonight. Soldiers and mercenaries lining the dancefloor would sadly kill the mood, so they can't really be themselves tonight. ]

Crossdressing was enough the first time he did it.
The second time? He already hates it more than the first, right now he wishes he could just ask for some whiskey and just drink it down straight out the glass. But, since he can't get drunk or drown his sorrows in wine, he'll make it the problem of anyone that dares to think he's an actual woman for being made to do this once he looks over the room. So far nothing out the ordinary outside men and women talking about who did what; the gossip around their circles, and about their plans.)
I'm not dancing if they try dragging us out. (Not after how embarrass the first time was and as the memory of Aerith cheering him on from the crowd comes right to mind. Never again, is what he tells himself even is Cloud has a gut feeling this night is just going to get worse and worse.

People are starting to fill the hall, but it's still relatively quiet that they can talk as they are and no one will disturb them. This should probably be their cue to do something for themselves, though. When they start surveying the area and making sure nothing bad's going on, they won't be able to take care of themselves.

(Now comes his 'acting', the fake shrill voice not even matching his usual demeanor in how he tries to make himself sound soft. God, this is annoying already though the two of them were already in this together. He can let the other merc take care of this while Cloud himself does look around from his current position to not stray too far away. He wasn't hungry or anything, he just was thinking to himself about how annoying this night is currently and it's barely started.
Damn these people.
Although it doesn't stop him from deciding that he should also make sure that none of them were to notice he's not a woman either. The pretty dress and wig aside, he's already wondering if he ought to tell Tifa to bring him a change of clothes when the party ends. If it ends without issues, that is, since he'd love to not be stuck in this until he got home to remove the makeup and everything.
Probably later then. Right now? He only hopes he gets to fight something, it would be a lot more better than whatever the hell the client thinks is funny for him.)

He doesn't ask for anything too fancy. Some cuts of a nice steak and some mashed potatoes. He's offered some sparkling wine and it was already in his hand before he could refuse, so... may as well take that to his "date" in case he'd want it.
Sadly, there aren't any tables and seats reserved for them. They're supposed to stay on the sides, with standing tables provided if they need an area for themselves. He'd have offered for Cloud to sit down first (because boy, those heels), but that isn't even a possibility right now. Hopefully the sparkling wine will ease the inconvenience. If even a little. ]
I don't want this. [ He places the glass on the table as he returns. Not quite a connoisseur for any sort of fancy thing, he gives it no introduction. ] Guess it's some kind of wine. You can have it.

That aside, he did blink, not even sure how to react to the fact they gave him sparkling wine and he decided to pass it to Cloud. Well, it isn't like Squall was doing this to get him drunk and maybe, a little too quickly, he takes the glass and drinks. Thankfully not throwing it back like he did when Tifa decided to mix drinks together for everyone otherwise it'd be too obvious he isn't a 'ladylike lady' to everyone there. Even if he'd have loved to do that.)
Thanks. (This likely would be the most amusing sight for anyone in their circles to see Cloud just doing this whenever he forces himself to remember to keep the soft feminine tone to his voice and not use his natural voice. God, he can only hope that their evening doesn't become a further train wreck still. Even if he partly wishes he could have just been dressed up in something normal.
Unfortunately, a job is a job.
Right now included though he isn't much of a fancy drink and party type of guy, despite coming from Shinra originally as one of their troops. Cannon fodder really, until he climbed up the ranks.)
