Whew, they'd gone. Finally. John really didn't like being set up this high on the desk, it didn't seem that safe. He also didn't like having his feet jammed onto this doll stand section. It takes him awhile to get it off, having to lever it off with his cane.

When it finally comes loose though, he's on his back pushing against it. The stand flies off in one direction and John tumbles off the desk. "Ahhh! Oof!"

Well, at least he landed on something soft...very large and soft.

Birthday party! It always seems like time between celebrations and new toys goes so quickly. All of his fellow toys are freaking out and as far as he can tell, it's largely excitement. Will they get anything new? Will they get their missing teammate?

...not that Steve is entirely sure why they want anything called the Hulk smashing around. Andy had seemed excited about it. He's not so sure. Steve sits and watches everyone run around before he stands. He drops off the stack of books he's sitting on--Animorphs he thinks it reads--and onto the bed where he stalks over to the edge.

"Everybody needs to calm down!" he calls out. No one listens. Steve sighs and glances behind him when there's clanking.

"I'll give them a quick buzz, Cap. They'll settle down."

Red and gold armor steps forward--Andy's early birthday present--and Steve tries to stop him, "Tony--" A quick hop and he sees the armor light up, then the other toy crashes to the ground in a heap. "--You can't fly," he finishes. He shakes his head, someone keeps forgetting that he is, in fact, a toy.

It does get everyone's attention though, so there's that. "Look, everyone needs to settle down. New toys show up all the time. It'll be good for all of us to have some new people around. Lets just try and keep everything friendly and welcoming, alright? Otherwise we might have a repeat of--"

He stops, tilting his head and yep, those are footsteps, "Andy! Everyone back to places! Someone help Tony up."

There's a mad rush and Steve isn't sure how they manage it, but he scrambles back up to stand on the nightstand, and they're all in place when the door opens.

"Andy, hurry up and put your presents away! We're going to cut the cake soon!"

Andy's mom, calling to him up the stairs. The sound carries through the open door as Andy shuffles inside with an armful of presents. Some clothes, of course. A book or two, the sort that Andy would like to read. But the crux of it all, in the brand-new box, is the pretty blonde action doll. Rachel, of the Animorphs, the box proudly proclaims, able to morph into a terrifying grizzly bear. The grizzly bear costume is clearly visible behind Rachel, posed in her morphing suit. Andy dumps most of the stuff on his bed, but he sets Rachel's box upright on his desk before he hurries back out the door, closing it behind him.

"Coming, Mom!"

As soon as the door closes with a quiet click, Rachel springs to life. She peers out past the plastic window, rapping on it a few times before she gives it an experimental push. It comes loose easily enough, and Rachel hops out with surprising grace given the limited range of motion on those ball joints. "Hellooo? Awful quiet out here."
