1. first day

Catch up with old friends, brave new teachers, fight your way through the sea of students, and hope you're in the right classroom. Oh, you're the new kid. Well, that's okay as long as you've got more than enough summer vacation anecdotes to fill ten pages of Times New Roman size 12, single-spaced.

2. first period

You're gonna be late! Or are you already there? Class hasn't started just yet, so chat it up or copy your classmate's homework before the teacher gets here.

3. lesson proper

You're probably diligently taking notes, looking out the window daydreaming or reciting in class, much to your teacher's delight - or dismay. Try not to be too obvious when counting down the minutes and pass that note as discreetly as possible.

4. faculty

Have a bone to pick with your terror math teacher. A crush on the cute chemistry teacher? There might be something you want to ask your homeroom teacher about. In any case, you plan on seeing a faculty member today. Or maybe they plan on seeing you!

5. lunch break

Man, you are starving. Hopefully, today's menu has something good. If the crowded cafeteria's not your thing, try the rooftop.

6. hooky

One of you is skipping class. You should try talking them out of it if that's your thing.

7. detention

What on earth did you do to get this? Oh well. Detention can't be that bad when you've got all these very nice, approachable model students around to talk to.

8. p.e.

Baseball, basketball, dodgeball - no matter the sport, just remember: you are the star. It's you. At least, you hope it is.

9. home ec.

Sewing! Cooking! ... Try not to burn the school down!

Oh boy, oh boy, being the star of this play is your dream. It isn't? Oh. You're still helping with the props and costumes, right?

Whether they take the form of Nelson Muntz or Regina George, if you choose to meet them at the gym at four o' clock or else, be ready to face the consequences... or maybe you don't have to. Not when someone's here to help you out. (This can go either way - one of the participants can be the bully or someone helping the victim.)

You're having trouble with a class or you're trying to make up for the days you were absent. It's a good thing someone was nice enough to offer their assistance.

Assuming that you actually have one. Are you writing for the school paper? Part of the student council? The marching band? Maybe you're a member of one of those weird occult clubs or something...

[ It's lunch, and, as usual, Lily is hard-pressed to find somewhere to sit where she won't be bothered. She refuses to eat in the toilets - very unhygienic - so until she spots the near empty table where Carrie's sitting, she's just stood off in one corner, holding her tray and trying to focus through the noise and the smells.

Eventually though, Carrie will be approached, Lily's eyes staying on her tray or on the table, brows knitted into a neat frown. ]

May I sit here, please? No one else lets me sit with them, and this is the quietest part of the room.

[ the art teacher. he's kind to all his students, usually to the point of being a pushover. stressed under the surface and seems to avoid the library and librarian for some reason. preferences are here. ]

[Among the tables of friend cliques, Taryon spends his lunch by himself. The small table is occupied solely by himself, his home-packed lunch, and his math homework. While other students are eating on the roof or outside the building, he figures he can kill two birds with one stone: get nourishment and study.

He wears a well-fitted button-up blouse - he's been taught he has to dress well for school, especially if he wants to make something of himself, and Taryon isn't going to argue with his dad. Plus, he looks cooler under designer clothes, and the blouse easily covers the Lord of the Rings shirt he wears underneath.

One day, he'll find the nerd table. For now, he's avoiding the bullies. The lunchroom is really crowded anyway, so he didn't have much of a choice on where to sit.]

[The computer science teacher, or the nerd that's really into fantasy series and TTRPGs that needs to learn some tact.]

happy au: the school's premiere track star. not exactly good at academics, but she scrapes by thanks to her genius brother and she's almost certain to become a professional athlete anyway.
actual brat: the delinquent. the "gets into arguments with the teacher and storms out the class, fights in the hall, skips classes to drink or smoke somewhere on the grounds and is probably on her 20th detention of the year" kind of brat. )

[You know what's worse than normal projects? GROUP projects. Especially when they're group projects with The Class Weirdo.

Rita Mordio has no family, maybe like one friend, and spends most of her day holed up somewhere in the school's gigantic library. Seriously, space is HUGE. And there's comfy chairs.

The good news is, she's an Honors student. Bad news is, she hates the other Honors students. Views them as idiots. She's hoping to get to college where maybe, MAYBE, something interesting can happen.

In the meanwhile, you've gotta figure out where she is so you can get her to start doing at least her share of the work.]

[Group projects can be a pain, but when your particular group includes both Ashley and Rita, it's probably going to be even more pain than its worth; there's Rita putting herself up a few pegs too high and the problems that that will probably bring, and then Ashley doesn't like group work (or really interacting with anyone else at all) so chances are the best anyone can really expect out of her for this project is just enough to be done with her part of it so she can get back to just doing her own thing.

And that's if the group can even get started on the darn thing at all; Rita's gone off to wherever and the unfortunate third student in the group has asked Ashley to go find her. Either they don't know where to find Rita, or they're a coward and don't want to be the one trying to deal with her, or they're banking on how Ashley can sometimes be a bit intimidating despite her small size (though, she only really gets intimidating when she's mad; do they expect Rita to wind up making her mad?). The only reason Ashley even agreed to go looking is because of the whole group project thing.

It's fortunate(?) that she knows roughly where to look, because she spends her study hall period there rather than in the room that most other students went to for it; being in the library normally ensures that she'd be left alone. Where exactly in the school library to start is a good question, though, and she decides to start her search around where she normally sits when she's in here herself.]

[This tactic seems reasonable. It's easy enough to spot an extra light placed where it shouldn't be - clipped atop one of the high-back-and-sides chairs, designed to provide reading nooks. There may also be the fact that the one next to that one's been turned next to it, meaning there's almost no way in without moving one... Well, except from above.

That's gotta be where the shut-in is hiding. There's rumors Rita sleeps somewhere in the school, you know, with how rarely she's seen outside of it. Where would be a good question, though...]

[A desk lamp clipped onto the back of one of the chairs...is really obvious. And then the extra chair turned to completely wall off the seat of the chair that the light is on? Makes it almost too obvious, really.

Ashley's not the sort to go climbing all over stuff, though and these chairs are a bit heavy for her, so trying to move one of them would probably get pretty noisy with how she would likely wind up dragging it. She's not sure what other options she has, aside from actively annoying whoever is using this two-chair fortress as a hiding place and getting their attention that way.

So, she starts lightly kicking at one of the chairs, repeatedly.]

... What.

[The sentence is terse and incomplete. But clearly aimed at whoever would dare kick her chair. Rita's not happy about this.]

[At least she's not kicking it hard?

And hearing Rita's voice is actually kind of a relief; it means Ashley doesn't have to explain to someone else why she's kicking at their chair.]]

What's-his-face wanted me to come looking for you so we can get started on that stupid project already. He doesn't wanna do anything unless all three of us are there. [The sooner they can get done, the sooner they can all just go back to doing their own thing.]

... Ugh. Seriously? We can divide the work and get it done solo.

[... She's not moving. Not yet. Ashley may need to take additional measures.]

That's what I said. [If Rita were to assume that Ashley is shrugging or rolling her eyes here, well, she'd be right on both counts.

There's a small pause, and then:] Hm.

You know what, I'm going to go tell him he's been outvoted. [It's two wanting to do their parts separately versus one wanting the whole group together, after all, and if it's made clear that nothing will get done unless he backs off and lets the girls handle their parts of the work in their own way, then maybe he will back off and let them do their own things instead of insisting on making the whole thing a massive pain in the butt.]
