Generally speaking, an escape room is a fun group activity wherein friends are locked together in a room and look for clues in order to find their way out. But, this is Halloween season! We can't let you off that easily!
How do your characters find themselves locked in a room? Where are they? Why are they here? Is this a case of a messy morning after, a fun outing with friends, or the latest chapter in the Saw series? You decide!

an intentional evening - This was all planned! It's all fun and games! Nothing suspicious here. Seriously, this is the good option.
a surprise evening - You didn't even know your friends were taking you to an escape room! How fun!
a messy morning - Rather than making the intentional choice to go to one of those fun escape rooms, you're just waking up... in a room. What happened last night?
a maddening morning - Right, so something is clearly wrong here. Beyond just waking up in Vegas, something is sinister about this place. It makes the need to escape that much stronger.
an accidental afternoon - Did you just stumble into someone's house? Did you fall through the floorboard of an old, creaky building? Well, how are you going to get out?
the long night - Maybe you were kidnapped?
the longer night - You were definitely kidnapped.
the longest, most despair-inducing night in history - If you don't escape within a set amount of time, something terrible will happen to you, your partner, and/or your loved ones. It doesn't matter that you didn't sign up for this game; you're playing it.
captive's choice - Play it however you see fit!

a complete stranger - Whomst?
a friend / previous cr- Oh, it's you!
the secret captor- The person beside you is the one keeping you here, but they're playing innocent for whatever reason.
the obvious captor- Have you seen Misery?
nobody- You're all alone within your room. Maybe the other person is trapped in a room beside you? Or they're looking in from a television screen?
captive's choice - Wherever you desire!

themes - While it's not required, most escape rooms tend to have a theme. It could the jungle, or the circus, or A Day in '90s.
keys - Keys can be hidden anywhere! In coffee tables, under mats, behind paintings, inside of body parts...
clues - Clues might relate to the people being trapped here i.e. birthdays, important names and dates, etc. Sometimes they rhyme. Sometimes they don't.
confessions - Maybe they're trapped here for a reason? No escape until some dark, haunting secret comes to light.
