[In truth, the command was for another Submissive, but he had assumed Goro to be a Neutral. Behind his mask, his eyes widen and his mouth drops slightly agape.

[He doesn't answer immediately. At first, he guides the other Sub (with some gentle praise) to please excuse him for a moment and go out of the room. With the other person gone, he turns his full attention to his latest charge. Instead, his lips press into a line as he shakes his head.]

It... seems your body changed to be more in line with this world. That hasn't happened before.

...You're either a Submissive or a Switch. It isn't magic.

[A beat, as he considers, and then very gently touches the back of Goro's hand with his own. Before establishing anything else, praise needs giving.]

If he were back in his world, he'd probably flinch away, the only hands close to his face that weren't his own had either been there to apply makeup for TV appearances, or been of the kind to inflict violence on him.
But something about this whole situations makes him remain in this position, tense as he is, briefly closing his eyes as the sees the raises hand .. until he feels the gentle touch on the back of his head and he looks up to stare at Alivian with wide eyes.

No one ever has done something like this to him, given him a gentle touch or praised him in a way that sounded .. genuine?

He bites his lower lip, trying to remember a time when anyone recognized him for anything, given him approval or even nice words, even less so a gentle gesture, but he comes up empty.

He swallows against his suddenly way too tight throat, and while he feels how his body relaxes and that he is able to get up again, he doesn't move away.]

[For once, Alivian is glad that Goro can't see the way his expression shifts in full, at the way his brow furrows and his jaw tightens. He knows he can't be anyone's support long-term. His hood (hopefully) fully hides how his ears fold back.

[His voice is quiet, reserved, as he speaks.]

If you're a Switch, you'll need either another Switch, or you may require two different partners to satisfy both sides of yourself. If you're a Submissive, you'll need an appropriate Dominant.

...Being with me means you may eventually be singled out in regards to myself. Questioned, like something's wrong or there's something to hide. There are many who still hate me because of the strength of my Glare, and what I did to them when I came of age to have this ability. It means I can never show you my face, no matter what intimacy you seek with me.

So it's better that you only use me until you find someone more suited to your particular needs. And I'm fine with that. It's what I'm here for.

[Even though he is distressed right now, Goro is still a detective and a very clever and observant one at that. So he does notice the minuscule changes in Alivian's posture, the way his hood suddenly sits a little different.
So he is lying his ears flat again?

He leans into the touch, a touch starved individual, like a drowning person desperate for water.
This hasn't even anything to do with him being either a sub or a switch, this is someone who has been longing for something all his life without ever getting it.

But it's also why he clenches his jaw and fists at the thought of someone he barely knows giving him orders, and him not being able to disobey them.]
